Indiana vs OSU Game Thread - 8/31 @ 8:00ET on ESPN
Miller'sTheMan replied to Dalton26's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Yeah I really don't think Lagow was an issue for us... It was more us getting torched offensively. The fumble isn't his fault, he got smacked from behind. His 2nd INT was at the end of the game when we basically had to force the ball down the field. His first INT hurt, a lot, but we were winning at the end of the first half. It wasn't the reason we lost. -

What's the deal with Knight @RT? Will he be good to go vs Virginia? -

Yeah it sucks to lose Westbrook, but I am completely fine with the duo of Hale/Cobbs on the outside. Both of them were winning their battles vs one of the top secondaries we will face. This game was lost in the trenches. -

Well, we fell apart late 3rd... But I'm excited. We NEED a running game badly, we had to throw it almost every play... Also, damn Simmie Cobbs is going to have a hell of a year. Imagine what he would have done if OSU couldn't blow up our offensive line every play? -

King lost out to Tronti and Ramsey, not a big surprise. -

Hale has been all over the highlight tapes from camp so I'm not too surprised. Really shows how good our WR's are when Westbrook isn't an automatic starter. -

I think Covington is a good player, but no way am I buying he's just as good as Tegray. -

Ellison has been really impressing, based on everything I'm hearing. So it wouldn't shock me if he wins it eventually. Would be kind of surprised if he already did though. -
Man... Great episode last night. You can really tell the budget has been increased for CGI.

That's good to see, I have high hopes for Tronti and if he's already giving Ramsey a run for his money that's great news for his future. -

Man I'm excited for 8/31.... it's gonna be a great atmosphere, and I think we have a legit shot to pull off the upset. -

But yeah I think we'll be fine @OL, may not be great but it'll be good enough. I'm still waiting to see a RB step up and be the next 1k yard rusher though. -

He also said our WR core may be the best in the B1G. -

I'm assuming he just means that after Lagow graduates, we'll be in good hands with Ramsey. -

We're gonna need someone to step up and be our go to back as well. Hopefully Majette can fill that role. -

Here's what we have going for us in my opinion: I'm skeptical on Lagow... however Cobbs/Westbrook is one of the best WR duos in the country, and they need to show up big. Also, I think our defense has a chance to really carry us this game. I'm not sold OSU will be able to pass on us very well. Barrett isn't a great thrower, and we return an experienced and talented secondary. OSU is losing all of their good receivers from this last season. If we can make them one dimensional on offense, that's huge. -

And I can think of a lot of near INT's he got bailed out on. It works both ways. -

And Lagow has yet to show he can even do that. Look I get why people are hesitant to play a young QB, but unless Lagow shows he's improved by a large margin, he's a bad QB. -

Patrick being done hurts. Indifferent on Simmons, he wouldn't play anyway. -

Yeah I think Phinisee can be a good college player, and I think people are undervaluing him. You don't need to come in and be a stud your freshmen year to be a good recruit. Phinisee is a guy I can see playing right away and making an impact, but really becoming a great college player by his Junior/Senior year. Obviously I'll take Garland every day of the week over Phinisee, but do you tell Phinisee no in order to wait on Garland, who we're probably a long shot on? I don't think so, nor do I agree with the concerns about Langford not thinking we have good enough players around him. Let's assume we get Phinisee, our recruiting class would be (all rankings according to the 247 comp): Jerome Hunter: 4* 60 Race Thompson: 4* Not sure on his number now, I can't find it on his 247 page after reclassifying Damezi Anderson: 4* 91 Robert Phinisee: 4* 114 You're telling me Langford is going to look at a class with four different four star recruits and say there isn't enough talent there? Not to mention with guys like Justin Smith, De'Ron Davis, Clifton Moore, and Devonte Green, who many people are high on what they can become. I just don't find those concerns to be valid. -

Good players want to play with other good players, they're both top 100 kids so i'm sure they're aware of each other.
