IU vs Pittsburgh Official Game Thread
Candystriped replied to FortWayneHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
He plays that way most games. I think he gets blinders when there is some sort of fast break. He is a great player but he still has a lot to learn about control -
Yeah I was obviously joking about those coaches but besides Devin Robinson the rest of the guys I've named are playing a good amount of minutes. Every one of them is averaging close to 20 min a game, which is a pretty big role. Plus Goodluck is starting for UNLV and playing more minutes than Hanner. Hanner has a better scoring average by 5 points and Goodluck has a better rebound average by 1 rebound. So a few of those guys that I named are probably playing around the same minutes that they would've here. Sorry to hijack the thread again, just had to get my two cents in. Appreciate the banter MikeRoberts

So from your summary we can say that Izzo, Roy Williams, Dave Rice and Billy Donavan don't evaluate players well enough since those are the guys who signed those players that Crean didn't' "evaluate well enough".

Who did we "miss on" that is actually having success? We "missed on" Devin Robinson, Goodluck, Theo Pinson, and Lourawls Nairn and none of them are doing very well where they are at now. We did land JBJ and Rob Johnson, who are starters and are providing a lot more than any of those previously mentioned.. Marvin Clark is doing decently for MSU as far as scoring, but he is not rebounding very well for a big man (averaging 3 rebounds a game).

I mean starting last year. Just because we had a decent starter we didn't want more depth. We have a serious need last year but we could've used all the help we could've gotten last year. Not sure if you really remember, but we didn't do so hot last year...

If he was going to play both, he would've started doing so when he first got here

Hoosier Transfers and Recruiting Targets
Candystriped replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
You don't know that, and none of us do. But even after his de commitment he kept listing us as his favorite for a few months. Then when the staff stopped showing up to everything, of course he didn't want to come here. The stuff with his dad has been overhyped by Jockich too much. I definitely agree that his dad is a colossal idiot though. -
Hoosier Transfers and Recruiting Targets

I honestly wish Crean would've stuck it out with Lyles. That would've solved all of our problems this year. Funny how as soon as Lyles de-committed no one from IU had anything to do with him so he went another way. Fast forward to when Blackmon de-committed and we stuck around and kept recruiting him till the end. Around the time that Blackmon JR committed Crean said that if he could do things over again he would've kept recruiting Lyles, but instead he got butt hurt about the de-committment and never talked to Lyles again. Things could've been very different -

I was at the game and you couldnt be more wrong -
We haven't really done much to deserve votes yet. Sure we beat SMU but we are going to have to do a lot more still. I've been super impressed with the team but still see us being a ways away from getting votes and/or getting into the top 25

Just because someone is super athletic and physically gifted doesn't equate to them being a good rebounder and defender. Not making excuses but in Hanner's case the guy has only played basketball for a handful of years. It's still most likely not second nature for him like it is for most.

IU vs Lamar Post Game Thread
Candystriped replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Seems like all the big ten teams have had a game or two early in which they have struggled like we did tonight, so nothing has changed as far as the big ten. MSU barely won their first game of the year against Navy, Michigan barely squeaked out a win against Detroit Mercy, Nebraska lost to Rhode Island, etc. So after Wisconsin, the Big Ten will be up for grabs this year -

Oh my goodness I got sick of hearing his name. The kid only scored 7 points and they hardly stopped talking about him. -

The sad thing about Troy is that so far he hasn't looked like he has changed from last year. Floating on offense and playing his own offense instead of with the team. He seems too worried about dunking and not worried enough about playing D and actually playing basketball -

I think the guards played great, the Troy and Hanner…not so much -

MSU and Michigan have struggled in some of their early games as well. Nebraska lost to Rhode Island today. We had a rough game but we still won in double digits so we shouldn't be too worried -

Give props to Coach Crean for coming out of that timeout with 5 guards not he court who are actually giving an effort. As much as it pains me to see Williams and Hanner going through the motions, I love seeing guys like Yogi, JBJ, RoJo, Stan, and Zeisloft giving their all -

Troy Williams is killing us. On offense he either seems to be lost or doing his own thing. On defense he seems like he doesn't care -

I know the Mattingly kid is from Indiana and his dad is uber famous, but the kid isn't that good . The announcers must be bored cause they keep bringing him up every 5 minutes -

Plus, most of their players seem to travel about every time they have the ball, its pretty ridiculous
