  1. I really wanted McCollum, and initially was not too enthused about the hire. Hopefully he wins enough, and his style is suited to creating the home court advantage at Assembly Hall that we are all used to. I do think that Tucker is an almost perfect mentor to teach Sisley how to be a high impact stretch/shooting forward.
  2. Don’t hate it, but much preferred McCollum. onwards…

  4. They are both very good coaches who also happen to be from Iowa. No big deal.
  5. From your lips to god's ears...
  6. For me, it's that he doesn't kind of or usually win. He dominates. Think about how hard it is to go undefeated in a season against any competition. He's got the undefeated season, 2 1- loss seasons, and multiple <5 loss seasons, including the current one in his move to D1. I believe if you can coach, you can coach.
  7. ...whose best player was taken to West Virginia. The portal works both ways.
  8. Tell me you've never heard of Ben McCollum without telling me...
  9. It seems like who slapped the glasses off of whose face gets conflated in the retelling. The contemporaneous account is in the police report. https://x.com/AnwarRichardson/status/1602441327643594752
  10. In a way I think this is an argument for McCollum. Drake has been pretty good with Devries, and he still set the school record for wins. In that X’s and Joe’s podcast, Weimuth mentioned the significance that stat.
  11. This is true, but all he’s done is win 90% of his games with the move up. If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck… (not a Dana Altman reference)
  12. They really don’t have much in common (Archie and McCollum). Archie was decent at a place where most coaches win. McCollum finished first in his conference 13 of 14 years. He also has 4 national championships. He also has an undefeated season, 2 seasons with only 1 loss, and 6 others with 5 or fewer losses. Archie never won at that level.
  13. If we are so far down the list that Brad freaking Brownell is an option… McCollum>>> McDermott> Collins>>>>>>>>>>>>Brownell
  14. 1. Drew 2. Otz 3. Lloyd 4. McCollum 5. McDermott 6. Byington 7. Devries 8. (Hold my nose) Cronin
  15. Wiemuth had some good stats about offensive efficiency vs. defensive efficiency for championship teams. i don't have the exact #s, but something like the last 10 national champs have had a higher offensive rating than defensive per kenpom. The argument against Cronin as it relates to Drew (other than his lack of championships), is about style of play/ strengths of the system. In today's game, offense is paramount.
