We are in a transitional period in college basketball. Most of the seasoned guys with past success have either retired, at the end of their careers or just aren't moving. That means the pool of national level "proven" coaches available is few to none. So what does that mean? You have to identify talent and potential. The resources and fan support are there. You just have to find someone who is capable. It's no insult that you aren't pulling in a major P5 coach. Why would a coach leave a P5 gig they are having success at? It's the new norm now. But I also think it's a huge opportunity. This is Indiana's chance to find the next Coach Knight from Army, Calhoun from Northeastern, Jay Wright from Hofstra. And I think we will.

What the heck? Come on guys... I literally just finished getting my Brad Brownell tattoo. I guess I should have told them to stop at Brad and we could finish the last name later.

Brownell is not at the top of my list by any means, but I don't understand the hate. Clemson isn't an easy place to win and during his time there, he competed against some really good ACC teams. His win percentage at Clemson is similar to that of Rick Barnes when he was there and Brownell has been there much longer. He is a good coach, you can't take that away from him and that is what we have sorely missed here the last 4 years.

What horrors await us today?

I'm right there with you. I feel like the only media attention this program gets is negative. And for once in my lifetime, I wanted to see them make a shock and awe hire that brings respect back. And because of that, I have been hoping for Stevens.

Agreed! It's interesting how me asking about Scott Drew is absurd and never an option, but Brad Stevens is not.

Not that anybody cares what I think, but I am off the Stevens train. It was fun while it lasted for me but the logic is no longer there. I guess it's good news in that I won't be disappointed later when they don't hire him. I was fully on board when Trilly and others weren't hearing that IU has reached out to anybody. BUT...now there is a search firm involved that is vetting candidates. Why would you do that if you had "your guy"? Do not get me wrong, I am perfectly fine with the search firm and vetting, and I firmly believe that will get the right guy. But, why would you go through all that if Stevens is the guy? It makes no logical sense.

I want to believe it's Stevens, but if it truly is, this would be the biggest kept secret in the history of sports. Not sure how it would not have leaked to the media at some point.
