You really can't blame the kids and my guess is the athletic department encouraged them to do so. There is no harm in checking out all your options, especially when the coach you committed to is no longer with the program. Couple that with the transfer freedoms this year and you are going to have lots of players looking around.

I fail to understand the guys that are absolutely hating this hire and calling it a failure. No coaching hire is a sure thing. 4 years ago, Archie Miller was lauded as they fail-proof hire. Some commentators saw no way he would fail. How did that turn out? Coach Woodson has some incredible knowledge and experience that I think these parents and recruits are going to be drawn toward. The only "lack of college experience" aspect that should concern is recruiting, but with some A+ assistants, there is nothing to worry about. Not to mention the Thad Matta angle. I still don't fully understand what he can/cannot do, but I have no doubt it will be a positive impact.

I'll take a guy who WANTS to be here every day of the week over a guy that we try to convince to come here. Which guy do you think will bust his tail everyday and make it his personal goal to bring this program back to greatness. Coach Woodson loves this university, he wants it to succeed and I am confident he will see it done. Go get em Coach!

I like it. Bring in somebody who wants to be here. Somebody who has coached on the big stage. Surround him with some experience and this could be awesome. The Hoosiers have my 100% support.

You make a move when it's obvious your current coach is not making strides in the right direction. To be a successful, you have to always strive to be the best or at least make that attempt. Sometimes you swing and miss, other times you hit a home run. But at least you know that you aren't going to fail by staying put with a situation that hasn't worked the past 4 years.

Keep Archie? Are you serious? 4 years of mediocre basketball and you want a 5th just because you are scared of change? This program was in need a refresh, a new vision, different direction. And you would rather risk another year in the bottom half of the big ten with Archie then get somebody new in there?

Beard is my number 1 choice, so I hate to see Texas get him. But I totally get the draw for him. You can't blame the guy if he ends up at his Alma Mater.

I thought the same. I remember Crean doing several interviews including one with Dakich. I also remember him showing up to a girls game AFTER he was fired. But I think it's more of a personality thing. That doesn't seem to be Archie's style.

There is no guarantee that any coach will do better or worse, even Brad Stevens.. It's always a gamble. That's why you interview. You try to get a feel for who can be the most successful in the job. Trust the process. It will be ok.

I believe Rick Pitino lives in that general area too.

I get it, it's not a run and gun offense like we would love to see. Who wouldn't want that? But, I'm like you, I just want to see this program as a consistently successful. I want to see this program in the top tier of the big ten and competing for National Titles. Heck, I'd like to see us compete for a Big Ten Tournament Championship. That would be a nice step.

I find this train of thought fascinating by our fan base. You don't like his style of play? His style of play has won multiple ACC Titles and a National Title. Would you not want the same results here?

I agree, it seems unlikely. BUT..you really can't blame him for saying no in 2008. The program was an absolute dumpster fire. And while most people love to hate Tom Crean, I am glad he was able to steer the program out of that mess.

Agreed. If you can't get behind a Bennett hire then you are beyond delusional.
