IUBB vs. Eastern Washington Post Game Thread
GloryDays replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Collin Hartman is the best center we have and he's 6'6'' and playing on 1 & 1/2 legs. -

Being as small and athletic as this team is you would think perimeter D would be a strength. Outside or about seven Minutes in the first half with Stan And RoJo getting after it it was pitiful.Guards getting in the lane at will and then once there....,well you know the rest of the story. -

I think he showed us what kind of coach he was in 2012. -
IU vs. EWU Game Thread

Maybe not foul out but not play timid.Own the Paint. -
Instead of the 4 guard + Troy experiment I would pick Holt every time. How about this crazy idea? Two bigs on the floor at the same time! I know it takes away from the cutting and kick outs somewhat but it also enables us to defend the rim.In certain situations that is more Important than scoring.. You build a big lead only to give it up by playing poor interior defense

I hope that's whats going on because that means there's some coaching going on. I'm not totally convinced of that yet.

Coach Cal doesn't know his daughters Birthday...
GloryDays replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Is B-day short for Banking Day? If so I guarantee he doesn't. -
Went with Yogi because despite being our smallest player he actually tried to stop people down low.
-
I'm expecting to get hammered down low and hoping like hell shooting can overcome it. I guess everyone's heard the old saying, live by the 3 die by it.I happen to think that's pretty accurate. I can only speak for myself.

As far as instincts go they are something you are born with and come naturally. The problem with Hanner is he has none and everything he does is reactionary. He is always a step behind the process because of it. Holt showed more basketball instinct in the 4 minutes he was on the floor than Hanner ever has. While he may make the spectacular play and wow the crowd i don't know if Perea will ever be a starting caliber Big in this league. At this point he is a major defensive liability instead of an asset .Holt has to play even if he's not the answer.Crean needs to get him time early and often or we will get eaten alive in the Big.

IU vs. Lamar Game Thread
GloryDays replied to Walking Boot of Doom's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
We aren't ready for that freight train! We're getting beat inside by Lamar.Louisville is a physical beast. Was hoping Emmitt would get a little more time tonight. Could it possibly been any worse than Troy at the 5? He showed absolutely no desire to play defense. -
Deflections? we don't need no stinkin deflections! :ninja:
-
They may be a decent team but does anyone really think that's a top 20 team in the present state they're in. Interior defense is going to be a major weakness for this team even with Holt and or April. Hanner needs to stay on his feet and not react to every fake thrown his way. That's fundamental basketball .He gave up at least 4 easy baskets in the first half getting faked out of his jock.
-
Hope its not ebolip!
-
He did have that but he also went for every ball fake shown to him resulting in easy buckets inside on the weak side of the rim with no help coming. That's really concerning to me.We need another big body to step up.
-
All these guards need to watch some JIm Thomas tape speaking of team rebounding. That aggressiveness is what it will take with the size deficiency.

Thoughts on the Games in Indy Last Night
GloryDays replied to CampHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
As much as i agree with that assessment You forgot about the Mathematics genius Eric Bledsoe. He's pretty good. Really all those guys were going to play in the league Cal or not. Just as Vonleh and Zeller were. I'll give Coach Crean Olidipo. -
I don't think Williams starts but wont be long getting in the game especially with a slow start offensively I agree about Stan.6th man most likely after the dust settles and really fits that role well.I would look for RoJo to play more point as the season progresses with Yogi off the ball and Stan and Jimbo on the wing.

Only 3 ?

Its all relative.

Thoughts on the Games in Indy Last Night
GloryDays replied to CampHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Dick Vitale finally said something that made sense. While praising the Paycats for their mighty roster he added that the one year requirement should be changed to straight to the league or 3 years in school. This is a mockery of the system and its getting really hard to watch. And no I wouldn't feel differently if it was us instead.Well maybe that's not entirely true but wrong is wrong. This is nothing akin to what collegiate athletics should be. -
Cal taking FULL advantage of rule changes

I think Cal's take on rules is,Nothings illegal as long as you don't get caught. Ky fan base and administration,Win at all cost. Its a match made in heaven.
