    TOM CREAN FIRED

I wish he would've won more by year 3 but it was an impossible task. He had to scrap together a recruiting class last minute and couldn't get the kids he wanted. Recruiting kids to Indiana wasn't going to happen overnight because of the mess Sampson left the program in. I for one am willing to see where the rest of this season goes before I throw myself in the fire Crean corner. If there is a collapse and Indiana doesn't get to the dance than yes, it's time to move on. The way Indiana has improved since the beginning of the season, I just don't see a momentous collapse.

Indiana v. Minnesota - Post Game Thread

Let's be honest. Last years team would've lost this game. Having a post player this year is a huge difference.

You're right. I got my years mixed up. Still performed a year before expectations.

Look, I understand the argument that Crean has had a lot of time at Indiana but a lot seem to forget that he took over a team in the cellar. He had 1 returning player and it was a walk on. Many assumed he needed 4 years to even start winning. He put out a competitive team in year 3. Also, the whole Marquette argument is irrelevant to me. What I care is what he has done at IU. He had had 1 bad recruiting class that set the team back in 2013. All coaches have bad recruiting classes. Hell, calipari who recruits nothing but 5 stars lost in the first round of the NIT one year. In the end, this whole argument is irrelevant since the season is far from over. All I know is that Indiana is 8-1 and in first place of the b1g this year. I don't care one bit if the schedule was easy. Indiana did what it needed to do for the first 9 games and hopefully will continue to do what it needs to do to bring home a b1g title and more.

I was going to say most likely Troy but yeah, I could be wrong with that. He has work to do but who knows. A lot of NBA teams love pure athleticism. Regardless, I believe with the incoming class, Indiana SHOULD have a really good team next year.

Dang you guys post fast. But like I said, if you're going to count tourney results than yes, there is an argument to be made. But I've been watching tourneys for 30+ years and know that match ups, seedlings, locations all play a huge factor, regardless of the coach.

A weak b1g that had Michigan going to the finals? Ohio state in the elite 8?

How is it 4 straight years of under performing? In 2012 they won the b1g title. If you're going to count tourney performance than I guess you have an argument. But to me, tourney is a lot based on match ups and if a team gets 1 bad draw than its over. I mean, how many years did it take Boeheim to win a title WITH cheating. The only down year was 2013-2014 season and that was with 2 lottery picks plus 2 senior starters. Any team that loses that much talent is going to struggle the next year. Just look at Wisconsin. I'm saying next year because we will finally get to see if Crean can keep providing sustained winning basketball through recruiting and coaching. He will most likely lose 2 starters from this team but have the recruits and current roster available to win again next year. That's why I'm saying if IU doesn't win next year than he should no longer be the coach.

I agree. This team will either play beyond our expectations or will be like last years team. The only thing I don't agree with is if they end up in the tournament, I think coach will still be here next year despise the performance. There's some key components committed for next year. If they underachieve next year then yes, Crean is pretty much gone.

Looked like pre b1g defense out there. Can't believe IU still won with that D and crappy offense no matter who they faced. I guess that is a positive. Z really needs to stop taking horrible shots.

(2017) SG Al Durham Jr. to IU

Lol. How can there be such a huge discrepancy vs the other top 5. Glad Indiana got this kid.

This game would be a blowout if Maryland could shoot the three. They missed so many open shots. Could bold well for Indiana when they play them.

    Article on recruits from McCarthy

It will probably come down to what Priller wants. If he's not ready to contribute next year, coach will let him know that if he's looking for playing time it's probably not going to happen. It's up to Priller to decide whether or not he wants to stay at IU or not. Is this a form of "creaning"? Sure one could argue that but Priller knew well ahead what he needed to do to get playing time at IU before he committed. Now if he was forced out of the team without choice I would have a big problem with that.

I know complaining about ft's are usually a cop out but when you have 1 player attempting more ft's than the other team then it is a problem. It's not more so that Hayes was getting a lot of ticky tack calls, it's that IU wasn't getting the same calls. I'm sorry, Wisconsin doesn't play defense without their hands as well. It's absurd to think that they play that much better without fouling at home than away. If you look at the box score, it's a game IU should've won.

Thank you! No one is saying Indiana played a good game and doesn't deserve criticism. But it's quite interesting the response in a post game thread after a great win and a loss. Most likely the reason I usually stay off the boards after a loss. Anyways, onto the Minnesota game and hopefully Indiana gets back to the ways of good play. Those 17s are going to hurt them but it is well deserved.

I understand the frustration of the loss, I'm also frustrated. However, Indiana played one of their worst games in the b1g and still almost pulled out the W so I'm still hopeful. At Michigan is going to be the test where we see if this team has grown or not. Having JBJ out, despite his defense, still hurts this team a lot. I would much rather have JBJ in the game than Niego. Troy's defense more so than his offense was really bad this game. Wish OG could've played more but he looked sick out there. Z couldn't hit anything again and he had a huge chance to change the outcome of the game but missed the wide open 3. All in all, it sucks that Indiana couldn't pull this one out but there's still a lot of games left to be played and really gauge what the makeup of this team really is.

There's no excuses. Indiana lost a tough game and played the same exact game at home. Turnovers killed them again and for some reason whenever they play wisconsin, they tend to play their game. It does get frustrating when the refs treat Nigel Hayes as some superstar who gets all the calls. It's 1 loss in the b1g. The sky isn't falling and let's see if this Indiana team can bounce back and go on another run.

It's not adjusting. He got a lot of touch fouls in the game. Kudos to him though for draining them when it mattered.
