    (2016) C Thon Maker

I hope Bryant and Maker realize what they could be a part of next year, especially if most of the team returns. Not many places where they could make an impact from day one. If they want playing time in front of the most knowledgeable and passionate fans in all of college basketball, IU has to stack up as the pinnacle.

Is IU Content to be Little Engine that Could?

You wish that you could know what will drive the institution to a higher level. Louisville, Wisconsin, Kansas State---we can regain our groove, but not without sensible hires and appropriate reward. CTC's contract adjustments were done on the basis of promise and not performance

Is IU Content to be Little Engine that Could?

Wisconsin football and basketball used to be mediocre, at best. Then, the university made the commitment to get a fireball of an athletic director, who recruited Barry Alvarez. With major support, Wisconsin became a football beast and they remain that today. And, like him or not, Bo Ryan has built the basketball program in much the same way for the past 14 years. With discipline, fundamentals, and situational grasp. Notice them ever being at a disadvantage late in games because of poor coaching? Maybe a good question to ask would be about the true depth of IU's support for the major programs. I think we can be so much better, but unless the backing is there, we are relegated to looking like the Wisconsin of 1979.

    Thoughts on Archie Miller

I agree Hoiberg is very secure at ISU. A major concern is whether any of the coaches being named would actually move? Would IU be a destination job for them? Stevens may be the guy since I think he feels strong allegiance to Indiana. And, I think he could recruit extremely well in-state. Just consider how many top tier recruits have gotten away in the last 5-10 years.

    Thoughts on the jerseys?

Will 1 more win do it?

Point taken about the players. Probably expressed myself badly.

Will 1 more win do it?

Sorry for the tenor of this comment: isn't it exasperating to still be talking about whether we're in or out?; how many wins it will take to secure a spot?; if we deserve to be "in" at all? I'm not trying to live in the past---this team, while undersized, had good potential this year. I don't believe they lost 8/12 because of fatigue or hitting the wall. They appeared ill coached and unable to execute in critical situations. In my opinion, this falls on CTC. If getting "in" means another year of the same general performance, I would rather miss out and go in a different direction. Everyone on this post is passionate about IU basketball and seems worn out by inconsistency. The players and the fan base deserve better.

    Big Ten Record Prediction

8 regular season games to go, but it's hard for me to see this team doing better than 4-4. Rutgers is not going to be easy, especially not the way they competed at Assembly Hall. And, Purdue will be full of confidence after handling us so easily at their place. I don't see anyone giving us much of a chance at Maryland. I'd love to be sanguine about our prospects, but with recent injuries and defensive lapses, there is considerable down-side risk. I get the sense that we're holding together right now by the skin of our teeth.

Gregg Doyel Talks with Joani Crean...

Doesn't anyone else agree that this endless carping about Crean and speculation about who will be the coach next year can have a negative effect on this year's team? We aren't even into the conference season yet; we have some good wins; the team is showing signs of serious improvement. Sounds like time for some support instead of damnation to me.
