And just because players enter the transfer portal doesn't mean they'll actually transfer to another school. Smart on their part to keep their options open. I mean, after ISU announces Brad Stevens as its new coach, they'll all decide to stick around Terre Haute. lol

Indiana State may have to pause basketball for a year. Former Cloverdale star and ISU junior Cooper Neese has entered the transfer portal. He’s sixth Sycamore this week to enter transfer portal

So Coach K can blame COVID for missing the Big Dance and it's not a reflection on the caliber of this year's Duke team?

We've got fishing talk going on in the Coaching Candidate thread and we need some expertise on what types of lures Dolson might be using as Chris007 thinks Dolson has had his fishing pole in the water for a couple of weeks. lol

I have actually thought that is an option but then which assistant? I think Ostrom is too close to Archie and therefore rules him out so IMO it's either Hunter or Roberts if that's a path Dolson would choose to follow. -
And yet another incredibly unbelievable bad call. This one against UTEP.

IUWBB - News and Notes
Class of '66 Old Fart replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
This isn't relevant to IUWBB but I thought it was interesting nonetheless as it is B1G related. Apparently playing on a 5-19 Wisconsin Badger team isn't that appealing as it's losing its #2 scorer and #1 rebounder. Imani Lewis (6-1 JR forward, Willingboro, NJ) has entered her name into the transfer portal, out of Wisconsin WBB; #2 in scoring (15.0 PPG) for the Badgers this season and tops in rebounding (8.8/game); second-team All–Big Ten by the media -
The following programs have reached out to Auburn transfer Justin Powell, a source told @Stockrisers: UCLA, Gonzaga, Baylor, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Memphis, Virginia, Dayton, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Georgetown, Uconn, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Wake Forest, N C State and Western Kentucky.

Holy crap. Helen Keller could have made that call. It's not remotely close.

Posted by Aaron in another thread discussing the swap of Sommer for Bierman to open the series. Mercer just announced he is flipping the rotation with Sommer the 1 and Bierman the 2. One of Mercer's biggest strength's and why he has succeeded is adaptability. His first year he played power ball, despite that not really being his thing since that is what team was built for and won Big Ten and nearly led country in HR's. Again, adaptability here. Bierman was bad last weekend, while Sommer and others were terrific so Bierman loses his lead rotation spot. A Friday pitcher has to be nearly perfect and if you want to pitch in the lead spot you need to be outstanding and if you are not you will be replaced. Hopefully, this motivates Bierman to not lose command of his pitches and pitch like he is capable and sends message to team if you don't perform you are replacable. Can you imagine if Archie was adaptable like Mercer? Archie's rigidness to stick to his system is what has team in so much trouble. -

IMO whatever's going to happen will come to a conclusion by the 21st. Either Dolson makes public comments that make it clear Archie will be back for another season or he announces that Archie has resigned. Can't let this continue to dangle in the wind from a recruiting perspective. With what we would hope are our primary coaching candidates all gathering in one place for March Madness, it will be easy for Dolson to "work the crowd" and get a deal done by the end of the first NCAA tournament weekend if a change is to be made. -
Comments from today's presser- Miller says IU is "hopeful" Race Thompson and Armaan Franklin "continue to improve." Thompson is actually more banged up than Franklin, hasn't gotten much work this week. "We're not counting on Armaan being available." Archie Miller says teams won't get to practice on the game floor at Lucas Oil before warmup for their first game. Archie Miller doesn't think sightlines will be a big deal because of how this season has gone. "All of us have played in empty gyms all year." TJD clarifies that his expletive during the MSU game caught on camera was not directed at coaches but instead frustration with officiating. Says he regrets that he lost his cool because he knows young kids are watching. Jon Blau - Archie Miller talking at length about how difficult this season has been amid the pandemic. Freshmen moving in and being isolated. Upperclassmen used to a normal college life and being frustrated. "In and around Christmas time, it felt like late January." Archie Miller was asked specifically about mental health and the difficulties. He wasn't making excuses. He was just talking about a real issue coaches across the country are dealing with.
