A little more salve for our wounds from a FB poster. Congratulations to the Purdue Boilermakers on their 82nd consecutive year of not winning an NCAA National Championship!! Even IU has not been able to achieve such greatness!!! North Texas "MEAN GREEN", thank you -
Ooooook who’s your # 2?

Catching up on overnight posts and saw a string related to Jay Wright. Great coach and a sharp dresser. In all of his years in coaching, he's only spent 2 years west of the Appalachians and at age 60, I don't see him leaving the east coast for the midwest. I'm not implying his age is a hindrance to coaching merely that at that age, I think he's less likely to want to start over in a completely different culture, i.e., east coast vs. midwest. And he's already got a pretty good gig at 'Nova. -

Sadly his mind is ebbing but wouldn't this be a great time for a personal phone call from The General? -
Pete Thamel - So what's an upset worth for a conference? Just got the detailed data today from the NCAA. UNT's win, for example, means that Conference USA brings an extra unit to the league, which is worth $337,141 for five years. That's an extra $1,685,705 for the league. Serious $$ for that conference.

Well this helps take a little sting out of today's earlier news.

I'm not going to go digging but there were things at his stint at New Mexico, not like the Iowa incident, but his personal character isn't the image he portrays. For me, it's not just Iowa that turns me off on Alford. -

On a day of a major letdown in men's basketball we have a bit of good news in baseball. Jon Blau - Michigan (7-2) lost today, so the Hoosiers (8-1) sit atop the Big Ten after a series-opening win over Purdue. -

Exactly my point. Glass said one thing and then did something else. I don't think Dolson does that. He'll hold to the concepts he stated in his presser so I'm still upbeat that we're going to get a really good coach. -

Fred Glass blew nothing but smoke at us when he told us who he was looking for in a coach. Dolson isn't going to do that. Here's what he said he was looking for: What’s important to us is that it’s a style of play that recruits want to play in and that recruits see that they can see themselves in, but then also is really on the cutting edge of where is basketball going, where is college basketball going, and as you can see, basketball is different than it was three years ago, four years ago, six years ago in terms of how it fits into the NBA and moving on and playing professionally. I don't think that fits Beard as our next coach. -

Drew Ashley gets our first hit in the bottom of the 3rd on a fly ball that the wind kept pushing away from the outfielder and dropped in for a hit. This is the 34th consecutive game that Ashley has gotten on base. Grant Richardson gets a double down the right field line and with runners on 2nd and 3rd and 2 outs, Cole Barr works the pitcher for a walk to load the bases for Paul Toetz who strikes out. On to the 4th trailing 1-0. -

Let's wait until we get some more solid confirmation. I will be as happy as anyone but until I start seeing it from the national media, it's still just a rumor. -

Much better 2nd inning for Sommers and PUke goes 3 up 3 down. We left 2 on base in the 2nd and still trail 1-0. Apparently quite windy today and blowing in. -

Top of the 1st and PUke takes a 1-0 lead After walking the first 3 batters, Sommers got a strikeout but then hit the next batter to score a PUke run. He then struck out the next 2 batters and somehow we escape with just the 1 PUke run. For the inning Sommers walks 3, hits 1, strikes out 3. -
