Top 10 ranked Spears listed as a 6'7" PF by 247. He attends Dynamic Prep in Irving, TX and plays AAU for U16 Drive Nation on the EYBL circuit and is a teammate of another IU offer, '27 Ryan Hampton. He is the son of former NFL Defensive End Marcus Spears and former WNBA forward Aiysha Smith. Additionally, his sister Macaria is committed to Texas to play volleyball. In 2025 helped the 2025 USA Men's U16 National Team win gold at the 2025 FIBA U16 Men's AmeriCup in Juarez, Mexico.
