Emitt Holt...Better than advertised, or an aberration?
Class of '66 Old Fart replied to Bigdaddy76's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Agreed that 1 game does not make a career but if we can get 10-15 quality minutes out of him as he learns the nuances of Division I basketball then we have greatly strengthened our team by bringing him on board. I thought he appeared to have the natural instincts for how to play the game whereas it often looks like Hanner has to think rather than automatically react. I think there was a stat posted that said he had more blocks than fouls on the AAU circuit and if that was factual then EH knows how to play the game. -

If it doesn't, maybe Hanner needs a firecracker enema. -

Indication fans aren't buying into this year's product. A string of quality wins and the crowds will come back. -

Going to be a long season

Butler got 29 offensive rebounds AND 28 defensive rebounds against the Tarheels earlier today. Will we even get 1 rebound when we play them on the 20th? -

IU vs. EWU Game Thread

Don't care about predicting scores as long as IU wins. What I'd like to see is: 1. Another low turnover game. 2. A high number of assists. 3. At least 25 minutes of quality play from HMP and if he can't produce stick him at the end of the bench and roll the dice with Holt, April or even Priller. Seeing is believing and I'm not seeing it from HMP - but I digress. 4. A significantly higher level of defensive pressure. -
IU vs Lamar Post Game Thread
Class of '66 Old Fart replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Lost in all the conversation of how pathetic our defense was (did we even have one?) is the fact that for the second game in a row we protected the ball extremely well with only 9 TO's. Our ability to shoot the ball is a most welcome relief from last year, but every one of our shooters is going to have 1 or 2 nights where they can't find the basket to save their soul. Hopefully, those nights will be scattered among the shooters and they all won't happen on the same night. -

Au contraire, I think Lamar was a wake-up call and we'll look a whole lot better Monday night. -
Depending upon just how severe his head injury is/was, he may never be able to play at a high level again. That's not wishing ill will on him, but facing the realities of what he's facing. I would rather see him sit out the entire season and redshirt and not feel any pressure to get back on the court too quickly. I want him to be completely healthy and fully recovered and know that the next time he comes onto the floor in candy stripes he came to play.

Prediction League Game Numero Once...IU vs O$U (11/22/14)

Girl's basketball team in northern Indiana got beat 60-7 this week and that just might be awfully close to the final score today. -

And many times trying to do too much. Last year he didn't have a whole lot of help; this year he does and he needs to be a little less selfish with the ball at times. -

(2015) ATH Titus Booker to Wisconsin

I hate it too, but let's be realistic. Why would a football stud want to come to Bloomington after what we're witnessing this year not to mention what we've witnessed for what seems to be the last hundred years. You don't think Tevin Coleman isn't wishing he were playing somewhere else? -

Lots of weaknesses still to overcome, but a much better product than last year especially knowing that 3 players who played significant minutes last year couldn't play in this game plus a newcomer expected to provide some relief on the inside. Lot of mistakes by the freshmen who just have to learn that D-1 basketball is a whole lot different than when most of the time they were the only really good player on the court in their high school careers. Obviously a far better shooting team and I think our bench players will be superior to last years bench players. Interior defense will likely make or break us in crucial games. -
(2015) QB Tommy Stevens to PSU
Class of '66 Old Fart replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
And how can you truly blame him. If you're a stud QB, would you want to play for IU after all the years of sub-mediocrity teams we've fielded? Look at Tevin Coleman. A fantastic running back who's not going to get the collegiate recognition he deserves because of the team he's on. -
This year for Yogi, what will it change?
Class of '66 Old Fart replied to SWEETLEMONbrown's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I only got to watch a portion of the first half on the Saturday tape delay but from what I saw it still looked like Yogi did too much dribbling early in the possessions. That was while we were struggling at the start of the game and hopefully that didn't continue throughout the entire game. -
2 years at most. If turmoil on the team continues throughout the season then I think he goes after 1 year if he gets any kind of positive vibes from the "experts" about his draft status. If there's no more personnel issues and the season finishes on an upbeat note then I think he stays. He's from a good solid family and I don't see his family pushing him to turn pro if they don't think he's truly ready for that grind.

IMO the fact Yogi was not the high scorer was a real positive plus 4 players in double figures. Nothing against Yogi but if he's not the high scorer then it means we're moving the ball and keeping defenses off-balance. -
Conclusions from HH
Class of '66 Old Fart replied to TomPritchard25's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think it's a blessing in disguise that the "experts" have predicted us to finish so low in the Big 10. Takes a lot of pressure off the team in the early part of the conference schedule and IMHO we're gonna kick some ass this year and surprise a lot of 'experts'. -
Hoosier Hysteria---Recruit Guest List
Class of '66 Old Fart replied to rebelhoosier848891's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Never seen the kid play so all I know is what I've read about him over the past 2 years. There seems to be substance to the fact that last year's team had chemistry problems and personality clashes and this year's team seems to get along well and they like each other. Could Lyle be a disruptive problem child in that regard?
