It will be here in 3 more months along with the showers for May flowers. Obviously in doghouse or has some kind of unannounced injury.

IUBB vs. Penn State Game Thread

Might be a good move. If EH starts maybe he comes in and tries to do too much too quickly feeling pressure to perform. He's excelled at coming off the bench after the flow of the game has been established. -

You must not pay much attention to Butler basketball. He's a poor defender and has little lateral quickness. Even on a bench thin Butler team he does not get that many minutes per game. He's a great kid, but transferring from IU was the best decision for him and for IU. -

Many have been complaining that EH wasn't getting enough playing time so despite Creans reluctance, we're going to see just what EH is capable of for extended stretches. I think he's going to make it very difficult for HMP to ever take back his starting position. -

Oh Romeo, Oh Romeo, where art thou Romeo? Deny thy suitors and refuse their offers. Oh if thou wilt not be sworn to IU We'll all stop following your tweets. (Deepest apologies to Willie Shakespeare) -

I was certainly ready to write him off as a hopeless project and now I'm ready to eat my words. He has shown great improvement and hopefully his improvement will continue. And if it does, he can be a real beast by the end of this season and into his senior year. -

What we need is a DEFENSE! -
It can be a maddening team; a frustrating team; an irritating team; a really good team. Definitely not a team for those who are weak of heart but they are fun to watch when they're clicking.

Stanford Robinson's Role
Class of '66 Old Fart replied to Beachfront Property's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Limited to providing a breather to our "go to" players. I would be very uncomfortable should Yogi, JBJ or RoJo suffer some type of injury that would cause them to either miss a couple of games or only be able to play substantially reduced minutes. I think our whole offensive flow would suffer greatly. -
Troy Williams player of the week per Andy Katz
Class of '66 Old Fart replied to southsidehoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Could we make it in 2 years? If he improves that much, I'd like to have him stick around for another year. -

If Troy can sustain his past 2 games performance for the balance of the season then I'm confident we'll be in the big dance. But as for Stan, he's still to erratic and I'm not sure he doesn't need a change of scenery. -

Coach Matty getting hammered this morning
Class of '66 Old Fart replied to mesaiufan's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Pretty ironic when you think about it. The PUke faithful were ecstatic when he was hired because he was a Keady disciple and now they'd love to get rid of him. On the other hand, a lot of the Hoosier Nation faithful won't be satisfied until a Knight disciple is on the sidelines in Assembly Hall. Be careful what you wish for. -
Post Game Thread (Butler vs IU) Hoosiers Win
Class of '66 Old Fart replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Hanner had a couple of ugly turnovers, but he was a real presence for us in the middle. He stayed out of foul trouble and as long as he wasn't hurting us, I'm glad CTC kept him in the game. And this is coming from a frequent Hanner critic. Also note that our true freshmen didn't have their best games and just maybe this wasn't a game for Emmitt as well. -

Referring to him as 'Heartman' is perfect. He is an Indiana basketball player. He understands what his role is and will be a huge contributor because he accepts that role. And, we'll get to enjoy him for 2 more seasons. -
Indiana Next Year
Class of '66 Old Fart replied to TomPritchard25's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
good team in 30 years in the over 50 year old league at the local YMCA. In fairness to Hanner, he has shown much improvement over last year, but if we don't see even more improvement from him by the end of this season, then I think we're screwed for next year if we're expecting him to be our savior in the middle. And I apologize to "Scohutch" for selectively picking just which part of his post I wanted to use. His original post was far more optimistic than mine, but I'm old and cranky and didn't get my nap today. -
Redshirt! Redshirt! Redshirt! I want him back as much as anybody else, but he's already missed basically 1/3 of the season. His conditioning is shot and he's had no opportunity to develop any 6th sense with his new teammates in the sense of anticipating what they're going to do in a given situation. Also, his shooting touch has to be rusty. And does anyone really know what his standing is with the university? Once he's cleared, how many minutes do you realistically expect him to play over several games? So now we're over halfway through the season. Is it really that important to have Devin lose an entire year of eligibility to MAYBE play some minutes for less than half a season? Not for me it isn't, but then I'm old and cranky.

IU vs Grand Canyon MVP

I also go with Troy. If he can sustain the level of play he showed against GCU, he will be a most valuable player for this team to be successful in the B1G. -

Like many others, my patience with Stan has reached its end and I feel about him just like I did Hollowell - GO, PLEASE GO AND QUICKLY. I've read some of the rumors that maybe he could be gone at the end of the first semester due to grades and IF those rumors are correct then good riddance. I'm old and I'm cranky but I've had enough of Stan Robinson. I'm still holding out hope for Troy but it won't last many more games if he doesn't stop the selfish and wild plays that result in ridiculous turnovers. If it doesn't stop then it's on CTC to stop it by moving him to the farthest end of the bench and only letting him get walk-on minutes. I know we're already thin in the ranks but either Troy learns to play team basketball or he can follow Stan out the door. -
Emitt Holt...Better than advertised, or an aberration?
Class of '66 Old Fart replied to Bigdaddy76's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Agreed that 1 game does not make a career but if we can get 10-15 quality minutes out of him as he learns the nuances of Division I basketball then we have greatly strengthened our team by bringing him on board. I thought he appeared to have the natural instincts for how to play the game whereas it often looks like Hanner has to think rather than automatically react. I think there was a stat posted that said he had more blocks than fouls on the AAU circuit and if that was factual then EH knows how to play the game. -

If it doesn't, maybe Hanner needs a firecracker enema. -
