Class of '66 Old Fart

Fascinating reading but I think we'd all be well-served to wait several more days to have a much better idea of just what we'll have to work with next season.   IMO this year's entire roster is in flux not to mention the head coaching position and clarity on the latter issue is the first domino.   If CTC leaves, there will definitely be transfers and the probability that the 2 Missouri recruits decommit.  Also you can also likely eliminate Maker and/or Bryant as incoming freshmen for next season.  Do Yogi, Troy or JBJ attempt to go pro?  Will Devin Davis ever be able to play basketball again at the level he showed before the accident?  We're oversigned by 2 so we know that 2 have to go.  I'm not interested in speculating on names just pointing out that the uncertainty surrounding next season is at an unbelievable high.   Announcements will come sooner rather than later and within the week, I think we'll have much more concrete information at hand to talk about the off-season and speculate on next year.  But then again, I'm just old and cranky. 

Breaking news.  This just in.  Fred Glass has announced that CTC will remain as head coach of IU for 3 more years at which time Jim Boeheim will become IU's head coach.   :laugh:     Hoosier nation, be careful what you wish for.

It's just my opinion that if there's to be a change the deal has already been struck and there won't be a wait until July because of the need to get a new coach on board and on the recruiting trail.  To wait will put IU in much the same position the IU Women's team was put in when Miller was terminated.

Disappointed?  Of course.  Surprised?  Not in the least.  This team all too frequently this season demonstrated its weaknesses, i.e.., poor defense; over reliance on the 3 point shot; lack of strong presence in the middle....   Yes, we made the NCAA tournament.  Whoopee!   One and done.  Yippee ki yi ya!    Although this year's record was slightly better, the product on the court was minimally better.  Will we have a better product next year?  I have no idea but sometime within the next 5 days we may have a clearer picture.  Typically coaching announcements and player transfer announcements come very shortly after the final game of the season.  Stay tuned to this channel for further breaking news.

Syracuse already has announced 2 players leaving its program so there's now a scholy available for Bryant.

Part of the problem is because we play such shoddy defense and  don't know how to get in front of the opponent and use our hands instead of moving our feet on defense.

If there's to be a change I expect we'll know within 72 hours.   These types of decisions are usually announced very shortly after the season ends.  Same applies to potential player transfers.

Is he or isn't he going to be our coach next year?  I have no idea but one thing seems odd to me.  Did I not read that CBS has been granted behind the scenes access to our program for however long we last in the tournament?  If that's correct, would the AD and the head coach be agreeable to such a thing if the head coach was leaving?   And maybe the whole access thing was just a dream from one of my afternoon naps we old and cranky people take.

I believe this is what's referred to as payback for that "fine" 10th anniversary dinner you served her of beans and a microwaved sandwich so you could watch the MD game.  :shout:

Well of course.  Didn't you know Coach K was faster than a speeding bullet; more powerful than a locomotive, able to leap.....  oh you get the point by now.

Many of the seed numbers don't seem to make a lot of sense.  Makes you wonder just what the committee put the most weight on in making its selections.

Why stop there?

All the fingernail biting; teeth gnashing and drinking these last couple of days and we weren't even close to being bounced.  Hard to fathom but the basketball gods certainly smiled on IU.  Now the team needs to prove it was a well-deserved selection and WIN!

I hate the fact that we have to pin our hopes for next season on landing TB because it doesn't seem like CTC has any other big man who has any interest in IU.  Is there a Plan B?  If not, then it's hard to see 2015-2016 being markedly different from 2014-2015.  And if we should be fortunate and land TB, can we vaccinate him against homesickness?

Woulda, coulda, shoulda.  Out of our hands now and what happens happens.  We were totally in control of our own destiny and then the wheels fell off.  Whose fault?  The finger pointing starts with the head coach, but the players have to share part of the blame for the lack of defensive effort we saw in too many games.  If we squeak into the NCAA it's hard to imagine this team making much of a run - maybe 2 games if they put forth the effort we saw in the last 2 games.  But even that extra effort in the last 2 games only resulted in 1 victory because we have to live and die by the 3 point shot and that fact alone could easily mean we never make it past the play-in game which seems to be our fate if we are selected.   Are we good enough to dance?   Well, we're already dancing the limbo aren't we?

Tonight is the important game.  Winning on Saturday and/or Sunday would be fantastic but I don't think that would significantly impact our tournament seed.  Tonight's game on the other hand...............!

The traditional 10th anniversary gift is tin/aluminum so I suggest a can of beans and an aluminum foil wrapped sandwich warmed in the microwave.  And should you foolishly follow my advice, I don't think you'll have to worry about an 11th anniversary dinner.

I'd forgotten how much fun it could be to watch this team play.  Welcome back boys.

Sometimes when a player gets hurt it seems to take the wind out of the team's sails but so far the team has responded well.

Not comfortable with our second half offense. We moved the ball much more crisply in the first half.  This half guys are catching and then dribbling aimlessly before passing and we've had to take some quick shots to beat the shot clock.
