TB's announcement today really puts some stability to next year's roster even if Troy leaves (which I expect). The guard position is 'iffy' to the extent we simply don't know what the respective skill sets of Newkirk and JBJ will be in the aftermath of their major surgeries and lengthy rehabs - and in JBJ's case multiple surgeries. If either can't hold up, our true freshmen guards will be getting extended minutes.

The star sophomore from New Albany (Ind.) was named the East Most Valuable Player at the Underclassmen All-American Game on Wednesday night in Indianapolis. On Thursday, he is scheduled to get a visit from Duke assistant coaches John Scheyer and Nolan Smith during an open gym at the school, according to 247Sports and Rivals among others. Langford finished with 16 points, including a pair of three-pointers, in the East’s 114-101 win in the National game. Langford was a star player for a New Albany team that went 27-1 to win the 4A title and was No. 18 in the Super 25. Marcedus Leech, a freshman from Poplar Bluff (Mo.), finished with a game-high 17 points as the East had six players in double figures. The teams were tied at 88-88 going into the fourth quarter and the East opened up a 105-101 lead with less than a minute and a half left in the game. It closed the game out from there, now allowing the West to score again. Nazreon Reid of Roselle Catholic (N.J.) was named the MVP for the West with 15 points. DJ Jeffries (Olive Branch, Miss.) added 14.

Valparaiso University junior forward Alec Peters (Washington, Ill./Washington) announced Thursday that he will declare for the 2016 NBA Draft. Peters will not hire an agent at this time, allowing him to withdraw from the draft process at any point prior to the May 25 NCAA deadline and return to school for his fourth season of collegiate eligibility.

Especially when the NCAA now seems to operate under a 'presumed to know' or 'it's your responsibility to know' philosophy with head.

Agree, everything I looked at indicated '17. If he were a '16, I'd be a little leery about his name popping up out of thin air at this relatively late date. Too reminiscent of a couple of our recruits from 2 years ago.

Hopefully TB will return and spend next season improving his draft value. And hopefully, he won't look at JBJ's knee surgery and think what if that happens to me if I stay.

So with these additional self-imposed sanctions, are we to presume that's there is some fire and not just all smoke surrounding their recruiting practices?

The B1G as a conference receives $25.5 million and the article also provides an average per B1G school which a pure average gives each school $1.8 million. MaxPreps lists him at 6'5" and 170 lbs. For the 2015-2016 season he averaged 15.7 ppg; 10.5 reb/game; 2.3 blks/game. 40 lbs. difference!! LOL

Helps that Stephen Zimmerman from UNLV declared and is hiring an agent. More big man competition in the draft although I'll admit that I have no idea how the NBA would compare the 2 players. Also Diamond Stone appears headed to the draft so again, how does the NBA compare Bryant / Zimmerman / Stone plus any other big men who may be available?

I've always thought he was a long shot for IU and I hope we haven't continued to throw lots of money from the recruiting budget into chasing after him.
