    Random IUBB Recruiting

Going to start this as I'm not sure of the wisdom of starting a new thread for each and every kid we reach out to since the contact period for this class just started and we don't have any confirmation that it's been anything other than a contact; no formal offer extended. There are a few threads already started for some '18 targets such as Romeo Langford, Tyler Herro and Robert Phinisee. 1. 2018 PG Cobie Dillard (Indpls. Scecina) heard from Ball State, Indiana per his AAU coach 2. 2018 F Aundre Hyatt (Archbishop Stepinac - White Plains, NY). Indiana and 11 other schools. 3. 2018 Wing Aaron Henry (Indpls. Ben Davis) heard from Indiana and Butler today

McSwain not arriving until Aug 18

Not good news but this isn't an 18-yr old who has yet to experience the rigors of a college basketball season plus none of us expect him in the starting lineup. I agree with gfunk69 that I'm sure he's got a training schedule that he's expected to follow while completing his course work. I'm more worried about JBJ's knee and JM's shoulder and any impact their recoveries have on summer training regimens

(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

From Pegram: 5-star guard Romeo Langford just told me Purdue, Indiana & Memphis were the 3 schools to reach out today, 1st time '18s could be contacted.
  6. From the Marion Chronicle-Tribune: Vijay Blackmon to attend IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. for a post-graduate season of basketball before enrolling in college.

Anybody have any insight if it's from us? From their UA Indy Hoosiers AAU team earlier today: 2018 Hoosiers 6'6 G Damezi Anderson, 6'5 G/F Shamar Dillard and 6'2 PG Jamal Harris to land D1 offer tomorrow from in state School.
  8. Wilkes, Scruggs, Jackson named core Junior All-Stars Kyle Neddenriep, kyle.neddenriep@indystar.com 12:05 p.m. EDT March 23, 2016     Three local standouts lead the list of boys IndyStar Indiana Junior All-Stars selected through votes by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association at its all-state meeting. Park Tudor’s Jaren Jackson Jr., Southport’s Paul Scruggs and North Central’s Kris Wilkes were named among the six core juniors.  The core group of six will play in both exhibition games against the Indiana All-Stars on June 7 and 9 at sites that will be announced at a later date. The other core juniors Jack Nunge of Castle, Crown Point’s Sasha Stefanovic and Fort Wayne Snider’s Malik Williams.   None of the six core juniors are committed for college, though several are considered national recruits. The 6-7 Wilkes is ranked No. 12 in the junior class by Rivals, Scruggs is No. 32, Williams is No. 36 and Jackson Jr. is No. 63. The 6-9 Nunge has offers from Clemson, Iowa and Vanderbilt, among others, and Stefanovic from Evansville, Indiana State and others. Six players making up the North group will join the core juniors for one of the exhibition games and six from the South will play with the core group in another exhibition game. The coaches for the juniors have not yet been selected, All-Star director Charlie Hall said. Here are the 18 players selected: Core group Jaren Jackson Jr., 6-9, Park Tudor Jack Nunge, 6-9, Castle Paul Scruggs, 6-3, Southport Sasha Stefanovic, 6-4, Crown Point Kris Wilkes, 6-7, North Central Malik Williams, 6-11, Fort Wayne Snider North group Jalen Adaway, 6-4, Logansport Jaylen Butz, 6-9, Fort Wayne North Jermaine Couisnard, 6-2, East Chicago Central Parker Hazen, 6-6, Columbia City Kyle Mangas, 6-2, Warsaw Tyler Smith, 6-1, Northeastern South group Michael Ertel, 6-0, Mt. Indiana Core Junior All-Stars Names 03.23.16

Sorry it's so fuzzy, maybe someone can find a cleaner copy to post, but the fuzziness helps hide the fact Gelon was almost a no show. The team was down to only 8 players for this game for a variety of reasons yet he only logged 7 minutes on the court. The lack of significant playing time in any of the last 4 games, doesn't help sway the thinking that we did not invest a scholly very wisely.

    #USMNT - 2016 Copa America

Pretty damn lucky to play almost an entire half down a man with only a 1 goal advantage. Wasn't necessarily pretty but they got the job done. For awhile with all the yellow cards being handed out it reminded me of the old one-liner: I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out!

Indiana Core Junior All-Stars Names 03.23.16

In both of the all-star prep games and again last night, Gelon was at the low end of the totem pole in terms of minutes played; surely he's not expecting to see much more than mop-up time as a freshman and possibly even as a sophomore. CTC's never done it, but a redshirt year might be the best thing.

Our very own Tim Buckley is one of the 5 mentioned. The current Associate Head Coach at Indiana under Tom Crean, Buckley was the head coach at Ball State from 2000-06. Over the past five years, Buckley has helped Indiana to a 120-53 record and helped the Hoosiers win outright Big Ten titles in 2013 and 2016. He has been a major factor in recruiting. If he wanted to run his own program, I am sure he would do a great job.

(2017) SG Al Durham Jr. to IU

You have to give the EYBL a lot of credit for the hype it continually puts out for the kids in its program. Durham is #3 in drawing fouls/game and he's a 75% shooter from the line; his teammate Collin Sexton is #1.

    2017 IUBB recruiting

Martin, my wise ass answer is no more than 29 since 71 play in the EYBL, but the honest answer is I don't know. The Adidas circuit simply doesn't provide the depth of stats that the EYBL does or, if they do, I haven't been able to find them. Today, ESPN released its Top 60 in the class of '18: http://espn.go.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/playerrankings/_/class/2018/order/true As someone previously noted, Romeo Langford is #2 and he's on the Adidas circuit. He's also the only Indiana kid on this particular list. #17 Darius Garland - EYBL playing up; teammate of Jordan Goodwin who holds an IU offer. #46 Tyler Herro - Adidas

(2017) SF Brian Bowen to Louisville

If we didn't throw offers out like candy from a parade float this would be a whole lot easier. While digging for info to answer Martin's question about Adidas players in the ESPN top 100, I realized I had overlooked Brian Bowen who received an offer from us a year ago. Brian plays in the EYBL circuit on Chicago MeanStreets and he is #10 on ESPN's Top 100 in the class of '17. His 2016 AAU stats: Brian Bowen '17 - Chicago MeanStreets 2016 EYBL Season Date Pts. Curtis Jones, Indiana Hoosiers Jones, a versatile guard who comes in at No. 40 in the ESPN 100, will be a welcome addition to the Hoosier backcourt after the departure of Yogi Ferrell. Jones excels in transition and can make scoring plays for himself. Not only can he play on or off the ball, but he can defend both guard positions as well. -

    2017 IUBB recruiting

I've probably bored some of you with the stats I've posted from the EYBL events that feature a number of players we've extended formal offers and are actively recruiting . ESPN Nation updated its list of the top 100 players in the '17 class. 26 of the top 30 players ranked by ESPN are members of the EYBL, including nine out of the top 10. In total, 71 of the top 100 players ranked are members of the NIKE EYBL, so if you're fortunate enough to be playing on one of the EYBL teams, you're playing with the majority of the nation's top prospects. http://www.d1circuit.com/news_article/show/657134?referrer_id= The reference to Peach Jam simply means that their team has qualified for the EYBL Peach Jam Tournament. And FFIW, Trendon Watford who does play in the EYBL, does not appear on the list because he's not in the Class of '17. It is mildly concerning that Al Durham, our '17commitment also plays in the EYBL, but did not make the ESPN top 100 list. IMO that's a huge issue after 3 knee surgeries. And then this today: According to a report from CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein, Indiana guard James Blackmon, Jr. is still not participating in full-contact drills. It's now 6 months into his recovery from the latest surgery so is this news to give us some concern?
