(2018) PG Robert Phinisee to Cincinnati
Class of '66 Old Fart replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Las Vegas: Three prioritizing Phinesee Evan Daniels LAS VEGAS -- 2018 point guard Robert Phinesee scored 19 points in a win over the Iowa Barnstormers on Thursday. Following the game Scout caught up with the four-star guard and discussed the schools recruiting him the hardest. [IU, PUke, Butler, Xavier] Evaluation Notes Indiana native Robert Phinisee landed in Scout’s updated 2018 player rankings at the beginning of the month. Phinesee’s play with the Indiana Elite 16’s, at least on Thursday, proved that he certainly was deserving of that honor. \ Phinesee, who stands 5-foot-11, is a crafty lead guard that uses a good handle and change of pace to slice his way into the paint and make plays. Phinesee is a good passer with quality vision, but he also proved to be a pretty good finisher as well. Through two games at the adidas Summer Championship, Phinesee is averaging 16 points and 4.5 assists. He’s also yet to turn the ball over. -

(2017) PG David Beatty to South Carolina
Class of '66 Old Fart replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
GALLOWAY, N.J. -- David Beatty is still finalizing his list of schools but says he wants to take official visits to four universities. "I'm taking an official to Indiana, Georgetown, Maryland and UConn," the 6-foot-3 Beatty told SNY.tv on Wednesday night after his Philly Pride team blew out Team Belief, 69-36. Temple head coach Fran Dunphy and Georgetown assistant Kevin Broadus sat courtside for this win. "I feel like that's love," Beatty said. "They could be out in Vegas but they here watching me. That's real love, so I like that." Hence the visit to see the Hoyas. "Oh, yeah, definitely I'm going to take an official to Georgetown," he said. Missouri and Texas are the latest schools to offer Beatty. Beatty, who played last season at St. Benedict's Prep but has yet to commit to going back to the New Jersey school, says he will commit to a college when he feels the time is right. "Whenever I feel right, I don't got no date or anything like that," he said. Beatty is a scoring combo guard who feels he can also be a strong leader. "My shooting ability, I'm a leader and I'm a pretty good play-maker," he said. "I make plays and I just make things happen so I can bring that to whatever school I go to." Kyle Rawls, the Philly Pride coach, says Beatty brings athleticism, a high IQ and a strong motor. "His motor is like he runs off diesel fuel," Rawls said. "He can play the one, two, either or. He has good eyes, puts people in position. He's eager to learn....He's improved a lot, I love him." -

True. But this weekend is another big weekend for the '17 class. Adidas Hoops Shootout at multiple locations in the Indy area. http://usayouthhoops.com/65801/adidas-hoosier-shootout-pending-ncaa-certification Adidas Summer Championships in Las Vegas. http://adidasuprising.com/adidas-grassroots-mens-events/adidas-uprising-summer-championships/ Nike EYBL with 2 separate events in Las Vegas. http://www.d1circuit.com/news_article/show/671554-eybl-invades-vegas-for-the8-and-lv-classic One of last weekend's events for the 18/19 class was the NY2LA Sports Summer Jam held in Mequon, WI. A couple of familiar names from this event and one not-so-familiar - just yet. TYLER HERRO – 2018 – G – WISCONSIN PLAYGROUND WARRIORS Herro (Whitnall High) has ascended up the rankings of the top players in the class of 2018 nationally, and appeared to show no signs of slowing down at the Summer Jam. The 6’4 athletic guard can score at all three levels on the court, including a deadly midrange pull-up. He already sports several high major offers, including a pair from in-state powers Wisconsin and Marquette, and should continue to attract more nationally as he continues to grow and get stronger over his final two high school seasons. MUSA JALLOW – 2018 – G – TEAM BLAZE The Bloomington North (IN) already holds an offer from the Hoosiers as well as Vanderbilt, but had just about every Big Ten program tracking him throughout the Summer Jam. Jallow is 6’5 and has elite athleticism and strength for his age. Not many opponents at the loaded Summer Jam could stop him from scoring when he had a full head of steam driving the ball, and he was also a monster in the paint blocking shots and grabbing rebounds. As he continues to polish his perimeter skills, he will only become more dangerous on the court as he projects out as a guard. He should have his pick of the litter in terms of high major programs by the time his high school career concludes in two years. ARMAAN FRANKLIN – 2019 – G – INDIANA ELITE It’s tricky to project a player who just finished their freshman year of high school, but the Fishers (IN) 6’3 guard was too good at the Summer Jam to overlook. The righty was absolute cash from three-point line off the catch, and also scored a ton driving and finishing both with his right and left hand. Franklin was one of the best scorers in the 15U division and is a name to remember for recruiting junkies. -
From ESPN.com The South Florida men's basketball program is under NCAA investigation for possible academic fraud issues, multiple sources told ESPN. Assistant coach Oliver Antigua, the brother of head coach Orlando Antigua, has not been allowed to go out on the road recruiting this month, multiple sources told ESPN. Orlando Antigua took over in 2014 after spending the previous six seasons under John Calipari -- one at Memphis and five at Kentucky. Oliver Antigua was previously an assistant for one season at Seton Hall before he was hired to join the USF staff in 2014. He spent more than a decade as the head coach at St. Raymond High in the Bronx. Orlando Antigua, 43, is 16-47 in his two seasons at the helm at South Florida. The Bulls were 7-24 last season.

I admit I'm confused but then again I'm an Old Fart. They talk about college and yet quite honestly, I don't think any of the top 50 (and maybe top 100) really expect to obtain a 4-year degree. They seemingly all have pro ambitions and the sooner the better.

LOUIS KING ASCENDS INTO TOP FIVE OF TOP247: http://247sports.com/Bolt/Louis-King-ascends-into-top-five-of-Top247-46318692 When thinking of the modern day skilled, versatile and athletic inside/outside threat, Louis King is the personification of this player in the 2018 class. At 6-8, 205-pounds, King, who is from Burlington (N.J.) Hudson Catholic High School, has emerged as the top prospect on the uber-talented Sports U 16U travel team. King is athletic, good in tight and open spaces, a multi positional defender, a skilled offensive player and an instinctual competitor to boot. He is now ranked No. 4 in the Top247 and No. 17 in the 247Sports Composite. Offers are in from Connecticut, Indiana, Kansas, Kansas State, Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. John's, Syracuse and VCU.
