RoJo should have waited instead of trying to go 2 on 1. Could have got a better shot and kept them out of transition

Davis is playing in a tournament in Utah an hour from where I live this weekend. I'm going to try and go check him out and see how good he really is. Anyone know anything about him?

The bench can be used as a teaching tool

Troy is great when he catches the ball at the short corner and attacks the rim but instead he tries to attack and go coast to coast at the worst times. Stan just sucks this year. I don't understand his regression

I like that idea a lot but the problem is with HMP and Holt starting who comes off the bench to provide some size? -
IU vs Louisville Game Thread

Sorry I'm a little late. Here's a couple thoughts. Turnovers and rebounds killed us. HMP played much better tonight than ever. Troy was forcing a dribble drive way to much. Stan adds another disappointing outing to his season. April had a weird stint in the middle of that game. Zeisloft played really well. JBJ had a dirty dunk! We really need to learn how to finish and close a game. Thought they played very hard overall though. -
(2015) C Caleb Swanigan to MSU
sddowning replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
During summer of 2013 he announced he was going to transfer out to Utah and play at East High which is like 30 minutes from where I live. He never contacted the school or anything though and then all the sudden decided he was going to stay back in Indiana. His brother played here in Utah at Hunter High School and won a state championship -

I'm afraid of what Montrezl Harrell could do inside. Not sure how we keep him of the glass. Hanner and Holt have a big job on their hands. He can really play. -
Good point. Glad he hasn't let the Devin Davis incident define his Indiana career.

Slim. I think his game is best suited for coming off the bench. He can come in and play 5-7 minutes at a time and play really hard. It provides energy and some shooting off the bench. -
Man Holt balled out tonight. I don't know about you guys but he seems to be someone you really want to succeed. Hope he keeps it up

The State of our program- How do you guys feel about it?
sddowning replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
The problem is the program doesn't keep the attention it needs nationally. I used to live in Indiana but I now have lived in Utah for about 4 years. People just don't recognize that Indiana has had such a successful program in the past. Then when something does happen to make headlines here it's the players ignorant decisions. I enjoyed every second of the number one ranking. Had to let everyone know that I was a true Indiana from Indiana who stuck with them when they were awful. Sadly enough I've been hearing about the Eastern Washington loss for a week now. Indiana needs to make positive actions that a noteworthy on a national level. Helps recruiting and respect for the program -
Sorry I misread the tone of that post. I thought you were blaming the players there. My bad. Misunderstood.

You must love Crean? Keep defending him no matter what. I'm not sure what exactly what the problem with Fischer was. We can only speculate. Hanner is a junior. That means this is his third year in the indiana program. We are not going to blame Crean for Hanners his low basketball IQ and still learning? How many years does he need?
-
That's exactly my point. Creans players development was no where to be found. He clearly doesn't have to people skills to keep the kids happy while they sit behind upperclassmen. Part of the reason Hollowell and Fischer left I would assume. They didn't see what Crean and playing at Indiana could do for them. Zeller averages 16.5 ppg his final year. Led the team. Oladipo out scored Watford by one point per game. One whole point. So yeah the offense did run through those guys. I'm not saying Crean knows what he is doing completely. I am saying that Cream can be successful if he gets the players to buy in as he did with Watford Hulls Oladipo Zeller and others. He clearly couldn't do that with the more recent guys which is why they left and or suck

Completely Agree

Can't imagine how bad we would have been without Yogi last year
-
Hulls was one of my favorite players and is completely irrelevant to the point I was trying to make. What I was trying to say is that Crean seems to have a handful of top 100s who can't play or don't play and end up leaving or become average to below average players (Hanner)
-
When you say "6'4" and athletic" are you talking about Oladipo? No one else come to mind. The offense ran pretty well with Zeller Cwat and Hulls. No of which meet you criteria of Creans typical player. Now I will say at times last year the offense became let Yogi and all Yogi. He was very ball dominate. Don't get me wrong I love Yogi and that wasn't his fault but Crean should have figured out ways to get Vonleh the ball more often. Find shots for other plays instead of Yogi trying to break someone down. On a side note if Hollowell was recruited and ranked off of potential he showed in AAU then how come Crean couldn't help develop him. He had no problem bringing Vic along. Can't imagine Hollowell was as driven as Victor but he showed no improvement from year 1 to 2. Only difference was minutes played

I agree. Why should we have to wait until next year. We should have some who is running the program who is constantly putting a good contending team out on the court. I don't expect the final four every year. That's a little much. We should be ranked and expecting at least a sweet sixteen every year. Not saying we make it every year because everyone gets upset but we should have to talent to do it every year. -
Hulls was not top 100 he was ranked as the 34th best PG on ESPN. Not in any way am I saying that Crean fails to get any contribution from his top 100 recruits. It just seems that for whatever reason we have had a good handful of those players fail to live up to expectations or in Luke Fischers case never get the opportunity to play. It's the same thing we are seeing with Emmitt Holt and April. Jurkin was the same thing. Give them an opportunity to play. On the other side Hollowell was given every opportunity to play and from my opinion was awful. I just don't know what whoever did the recruiting of him saw that suddenly was absent during his 2 years at IU

Louisville Louisville Louisville!!! That's when we will know what we really have this year. Tom Crean is on a short leash. No tournament this year and he is gone I think that's obvious. We need someone who can recruit. Tom Crean seems to pull those top 100 players who don't make immediate impact or really ever pan out. Hollowell, Hanner, Stan has had his ups and downs. Fischer never played. Still haven't figured that one out. Crean's players management has always been something I've questioned

Another block for Holt

Holt getting some early playing time!!!
