(2015) PF Jarred Reuter to Virginia

Seems like his recruitment is in "reset mode" right now. He lost some weight, changed his game/style, and schools are getting a look at a completely new player.

    Tre Roberson - Chicago Bears

I'm not surprised that he's transferring... these guys want to play and the 2-QB system doesn't jive with everyone. It seems that after spring practice, Tre realized that he was again going to be the back-up/relief QB and felt it better to use his last 2 years of eligibility somewhere where he can be the man.   It's pretty late in the game to transfer but he will have to sit out this year and I'm sure he can find a new home where he can compete for that starting spot.   Best of luck to him, and now IU fans can move forward knowing that this is Nate Sudfeld's offense now. Like someone said before, he can definitely put up monster numbers now that he's not sharing snaps.

    A.J. Guyton

This is from a game last season in which AJ was honorary captain.

    Steve Alford coaching

I don't think Alford is a bad coach because of Bob Knight. I don't think he's a bad coach at all, actually. But he hasn't proven to be a particularly good one and he's not going to leave UCLA unless he gets fired so there's really no reason to even discuss whether or not he should be the next coach at IU.   Let's see what he does with this year's Bruins. He is bringing in a great class but he lost two NBA draft picks and a bunch of seniors. Sounds a lot like IU last season.

    OT: UNC academic scandal continues...

Nice to see someone finally speak out... too bad he's revealing stuff from 2005. Doubt the NCAA could do anything even if they wanted to. BUT, it does hurt Williams and UNC quite a bit in the court of public opinion.

(2014) C Isaiah Manderson to Texas Tech

Hey, at least Crean won't use a 12+ man rotation this year. He won't have the bodies for it.

VERY decent. But that's about it. All those first places finishes in conference while at NM but no tournament success. Keep in mind, Second Round now means round of 64, so he won 1 game in 2012 and 0 games in 2013.    Wait... he took 2 NBA draft picks to the sweet 16 and brought in a top recruiting class? Who does this guy think he is, Tom Crean?!   And as CampCrean said above, he helped cover up one of his players who sexually assaulted someone. Pass.

    Kj's replacement

Crean probably can't comment on it because no contract has been signed or it's pending a background check (ala Steve Masiello) or something like that.   Who knows what source gave CBS this info to begin with, but they weren't really clear about what stage of the hiring process they were at. Just said that they expected Indiana to hire him.

    2014-2015 Basketball Schedule

    Kj's replacement

Guys... IU got the best in-state player in 2014. Just because he didn't win Mr. Basketball doesn't mean he isn't the best!   Also.... Tim Priller is from Indiana! wooooooo

Why aren't we recruiting guys from Indiana?

Here's how the rest of B1G country did keeping guys in-state in 2014 (per 247 rankings):   Illinois: 6 of 27 stayed (0 of top 5), 1 to Illinois and 2 to Northwestern Indiana: 4 of 14 stayed (1 of top 6), 1 to Indiana and 1 to Purdue Iowa: no rankings Michigan: 1 of top 8, but 0 to UM or MSU Minnesota: 0 of top 4 (3 are top 100 players) Nebraska: no rankings Ohio: 4 of 13 stayed, 2 to Ohio State (both in top 4 of state) Pennsylvania: 3 of 9 stayed, 2 to Penn State (#5 and #8) Wisconsin: 1 of 7 stayed, 0 to UW   and the new guys...   Maryland: 1 of top 13 staying, headed to Maryland... 2 still undecided New Jersey: 1 of top 16 staying, but not to Rutgers... 1 still undecided

Why aren't we recruiting guys from Indiana?

To convert those numbers to basketball:    Of the top 14 players in Indiana (that's all 247 lists, because basketball and football are - again - completely different), 4 stayed in state and no more than 1 went to any particular school. 1 is still undecided. Only 1 from the top 6 is staying in-state (Blackmon).   This isn't because guys don't want to stay in-state. Roster space is more of an issue with basketball and teams can only take a few players at each position (AT BEST) per year. Indiana has done well picking up in-state players, and really only missed on Harris IMO. Bluiett is a great player but not at a position of need. Lyles is Lyles. Zak Irvin and GR3 were Michigan leans for a long time and never were considered to be all that much in play for IU. Demetrius Jackson was ND all the way. Skim those guys off the top and you're complaining about Bryant McIntosh and VJ Beacham. Boo hoo..

Why aren't we recruiting guys from Indiana?

Also, the argument that Texas or FSU doesn't have the room on their roster to snag a few more of the top players from within their states is laughable. Everyone has room for those guys.

Why aren't we recruiting guys from Indiana?

In 2014, 8 of the top 15 players from Texas left the state, including 3 of the top 5. Of the 7 that stayed, 3 are headed to TAMU and 2 each to UT and Baylor. In 2014, 7 of the top 20 players from Florida left the state, including 2 of the top 3. Of the 13 that stayed, they were split pretty evenly among FSU (3), UF (3), & Miami (4).    Also, why are we talking about Football? Those schools take about 25 recruits PER YEAR. Basketball recruiting rarely gets higher than 5-6 per season.

Crean $20,000 for perfect academic progress rate

Don't know about his new contract, but the additional contract got him $25k for making the tournament, $25k for winning first game and $35k for winning second game (making Sweet 16), which means the 2012 run netted him a bonus of $85k.   He didn't have any provisions in his original contract for making the NIT, but he earned at least $125k bonus for winning the B1G regular season in 2013 (he had signed the extension by then, but old contract had $125k bonus).

List your 3 favorite college fight songs...

I always liked Tennessee's Whenever I would create a team in the NCAA video games I would choose Rocky Top as my fight song
  21. Can you imagine if the Cavs drafted Oladipo last year? Oladipo/Kyrie paired up with Wiggins (or even Parker) would be nasty.

    Tony Barbee?

I don't think that's true w/ Crean and Cal anymore.
  23. WindyCitySource

    Tony Barbee?

No recruiting violations, but a lot of attrition (I know that pisses people off around here) and the aforementioned point-shaving scandal.
  24. WindyCitySource

    Tony Barbee?

He was on the staff at UMass for Camby, Memphis for Rose... I don't know if he was involved in either but there's no way he doesn't know anything about those situations.   I think this would be an incredibly risky hire and one that Fred Glass would not make.    He had a horrendous tenure at Auburn... terrible on the court and possibly worse off it. He lost 12 players in 4 years to transfers/dismissals and one of those dismissals was for a point-shaving scandal. There's no way this happens, and I don't understand how any IU fan would actually want it to.   EDIT: He left Memphis a few months before Derrick Rose committed, so I don't know how involved he could have been with that. Either way, he is a Calipari protege. Why would IU fans want that?
  25. WindyCitySource

    Tony Barbee?

The peeps over at another site haven't heard anything serious about this.   Curious as to why people are OK with hiring Barbee as an assistant but condemn Calipari's recruiting tactics?
