So doesn't that story prove that the "no bar rule" was real? Just that players didn't always follow it? -

Devin Davis injured/Emmitt Holt cited for DUI

RE: Dakich today... I'm trying to look at his recent comments without the spin of what Chronic Hoosier said last night. Seems to me that Dakich is hyping his show up today not because he has new info, but because he is going to have some harsh words for Crean/the program/etc. "Get ready for the truth" sounds like "I'm going to say what a lot of people are thinking" or "I'm not holding back on Crean." Something like that. Maybe that's just my read. -
Devin Davis injured/Emmitt Holt cited for DUI
WindyCitySource replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'm not sure if this qualifies as a freak accident, since Devin apparently put himself (for whatever reason) directly in harm's way. Either way, I agree with others who have said that this incident would be treated a lot differently if it were isolated and the events from last year didn't happen. Too bad that isn't the case. Lots of bad decision-making happening on this roster. Not to say that other teams' players aren't making bad decisions, as well. It just seems like the IU guys are awful at not getting caught. The most important thing remains the recovery of Devin Davis. At this point, his reasoning for running in front of moving car are less pressing (though I understand the need for answers, since it's such a strange situation). Just keep hoping for good news. -

The info is pretty much the same, but it puts to bed rumors of other bball players being in the car. Also the crazy hit-and-run rumors should be put to bed, as well. Also noted that they didn't run an BAC tests at the scene... doesn't say anything about whether they ran tests at the hospital. -

HOOSIER HYSTERIA Predictions Thread
WindyCitySource replied to CampHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
The Hornets are off from FRI 10/24 to TUE 10/28 (games on THU and WED in Charlotte) The Magic are in Orlando for a game FRI 10/24, but off after that until season opener on TUE 10/28 in New Orleans Pelicans have a game on THU 10/23 at home and then open the season w/ above-mentioned home game v Magic. The Heat are in Memphis on FRI night so Wade is actually the closest one to Btown... They have their opener in Miami on WED. It's not crazy to think that former players/Wade might be able to sneak a trip in. But nobody is near by so they would be going out of their way to do it. Of course, it's would make sense for guys like Oladipo or Zeller to go out of their way but we'll see. Pretty sure Vic is nursing a knee sprain right now so I doubt the Magic want him doing anything extra that could jeopardize is recovery. -

What an idiot.... you'd have to be out of your mind to think that would work at any store, but the APPLE STORE?! When everything is tracked via the internet? No chance in hell he could ever get away with that, even if he successfully sold them at the pawn shop. What a doofus. Hope he does some jail time

IU @ Bowling Green Post-Game Thread
WindyCitySource replied to HoosierReb01's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
IU has a rare opportunity to have the inside track on a guy that is likely to be a hot commodity come the offseason. If Wilson can't turn this season around and someone get to a bowl, the fans/boosters will be calling for his head. Rod Carey has done wonders at NIU and this year is showing he can win w/o Jordan Lynch. Being a Hoosier, he would have much more of a connection to this program than any others that come calling. When has IU football had any upper hand in snagging a hot coaching prospect? No bowl = no more CKW, in my opinion. -
The NFL and its star players will forever fall victim to the court of public opinion. Justifiably so... These players are supposed to be role models. Obviously not every player is the perfect role model, but when the league slaps these guys on the wrist and allows them to continue to play, it sends the message that assaulting a woman is OK. In this case, the justification being that a woman put her hands on Ray Rice first, so the fact that he knocked her out was bad enough to be suspended for 12.5% of one season but beyond that, it's alright. That's the problem. Roger Goodell chose a star player's marketability over doing the right thing. Public figures lead public lives. Knocking a woman unconscious is not a transgression. It's assault and it's a crime. Ray Rice's football career shouldn't even be the topic of discussion right now. He should be in jail. And despite the fact that he has somehow avoided legal punishment, his employer felt the need to dock him 12.5% of his multi-million dollar salary for just one year.

Ray Rice being a complete piece of S*** aside, everyone comes out of this looking terrible. If the NBA can force an owner to sell his team over a racist email, hopefully there is some recourse for a commissioner that slapped Ray Rice on the wrist after beating the hell out of a defenseless woman. The Ravens are just as bad, standing behind him the whole time, writing fluffy PR pieces on his behalf, trotting him to applause in the pre-season, and having his VICTIM join him for a press conference after the suspension was announced. Unfortunately, Goodell will stay commissioner (earning millions of dollars) and the Ravens (since they have now cut ties with RR) will just take back their support and everyone will play dumb until this goes away. And it will. It always does.

Rice is complete scum... knocks his fiance out cold and on top of it, didn't even look remorseful. He just stood there staring at her lifeless on the floor. Drags her out of the elevator like his equipment bag and even uses his foot to kick her limp legs out of the way of the closing door. I agree with everyone who is saying that whether or not the NFL had this video, the 2-game suspension was a complete and utter joke. But I don't believe for a second that the NFL didn't have access to this video. He should have been suspended indefinitely from the start and he should be in prison. I don't care if his fiance started it, or came after him first or whatever (even though the video suggests that's probably not even true). A professional football player does not need self-defense against a petite woman in an elevator. You're telling me he can't restrain her and calm her down? He had to pop her in the face instead? Because he was defending himself? Unless she's got a got, she's no threat to you, Ray Rice. Have fun being blacklisted from football. You're lucky to be a free man as it is. I'm glad the right to play NFL football has been taken away from you.

... Howland went to the FF 3 straight years 2006-2008, but failed to get past the Round of 32 since. His final season, UCLA went 25-10 and won the Pac-12 reg season, but lost in the round of 64. -
Injuries for IUFB headed into Saturday (w/ Link)
WindyCitySource posted a topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Didn't see this posted anywhere, but according to Mike Miller at the H-T a couple Hoosiers will miss the year due to injury: Senior LB Steven Funderburk (back) Freshman RB Tommy Mister (knee surgery) Hopefully Funderburk is able to get a medical hardship for this year, since he is a RS Senior already. He redshirted for 1 season at Tulane before making his way to IU via Iowa Western CC. Tough for Mister, too, since he figured to maybe get some playing time this year. Luckily he still has a ton of eligibility ahead of him and hopefully he can bounce back. Doesn't say what the knee injury is, only that it requires surgery. Also not playing on Saturday due to *minor* injuries are TE Danny Friend, TE Anthony Corsaro, C Wes Rogers and S Dawson Fletcher. CKW called them all "day-to-day" or "week-to-week." http://scoop.hoosiershq.com/2014/08/injuries-hit-iu-just-before-kickoff/ -

He didn't play at all in the Bahamas, so he must be hurt or something. Season's still a couple months away, though. EDIT: Article from June says he is out due to a medical procedure on his leg, but that he (at the time, at least) was expected to be back for practice in October. http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/06/24/trey-lyles-to-sit-out-kentuckys-trip-to-the-bahamas/ -

(2015) JUCO PF Ray Kasongo
WindyCitySource replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
"Showing interest" could mean a million different things. I don't think it's a problem for IU to at least inquire and see what the deal is. If Kasongo camp gets a call/text from IU and he tells that to someone like Zagoria, then it is reported that IU is showing interest. Could be as simple as that. NOTE: not an indictment on Zagoria or anyone else... that's their job... I'm just saying that's how it works out sometimes -

Fun fact: ETSU is coached by Murry Bartow, who spent 2 seasons as a graduate assistant at IU under Bob Knight. He was on the GA staff for the 1986-1987 National Championship season and earned his Masters in 1987.
