Devin Davis cited for marijuana possession
WindyCitySource replied to hyzy's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Like I said... he should know the rules. He should know where he stands within the program and that he represents the University. My message is to everyone ripping this kid apart for nothing. I don't think it's wrong to smoke some pot over the summer as a college student, but it is against the rules and law. Devin will pay for that citation (literally) and he will be punished from his team. Done deal. Live and learn. He made a mistake. Leave the kid alone. -
Where will our transfers commit to?

Devin Davis cited for marijuana possession
WindyCitySource replied to hyzy's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
This is blown way out of proportion. It's the offseason. Marijuana has healing properties, and he's still recovering from a head trauma. Yeah you have to know the rules and he's clearly going to pay the price via suspension, but let's not crucify this kid. Geez. We don't even know the details..who was smoking? Who was holding? Who else was there? Just relax... EDIT: I actually don't really care about the details. It was a little pot in the offseason. He wasn't shooting crystal meth or anything. Whatever... I know this is an unpopular opinion so I'll see myself out. -

Now that the semester is over, they are able to actually visit other schools. I don't want to be the one divulging premium content from another site, but there are a few schools being thrown around for Hoetzel and Robinson. The biggest one is San Diego State for Hoetzel, which seems like it could be a great fit for both parties. -
I remember the morning of his MSU announcement, all of the talk from the recruiting guys was that they would be shocked if he chose anywhere but Cal.

WindyCitySource replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Interesting tidbit from my Twitter mentions earlier today... here's Rawle's Christ The King coach Joe Arbitello responding to a random follower of mine: Chris Yount @CYount44 3h3 hours ago @HoosierSource @AdamZagoria @Iam_RawleAlkins @ctkcoachjarbs Its over isn't his HS coach related too Coach K? Joe Arbitello @ctkcoachjarbs 3h3 hours ago @CYount44 @HoosierSource @AdamZagoria @Iam_RawleAlkins lol no I never met coach k Chris Yount @CYount44 3h3 hours ago @ctkcoachjarbs @HoosierSource @AdamZagoria @Iam_RawleAlkins I must've misread something. (2015) JUCO SG Mychal Mulder to UK
WindyCitySource replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I really don't think so. It's not the most ethical thing to do, sure. But it's not terrible and he's definitely not the only one doing it. Kids are so loose with verbal commitments that I wouldn't equate it to a "fiance" in this comparison. More of a "new girlfriend of a couple weeks." Clearly this is an opinion thing so I guess I'll just leave it at that. -

I hate Calipari as much as the next guy, but I don't see what's so bad about that offer. Verbal commitments are meaningless and completely unofficial. Recruiting a guy after he's signed is one thing, but after he's committed somewhere? Nothing wrong with that IMO. -
(2016) C Thon Maker
WindyCitySource replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Things change... Jerry Meyer is as connected as anybody, but you shouldn't take anyone's word as gospel in this business. Very possible that 2 weeks ago, Thon was going overseas. -
Is Banner 6 a realistic possibility?
WindyCitySource replied to IUHoosier5's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Indiana certainly has all the pieces in place in theory. How will everyone gel? How will everyone progress this offseason? What is Thon Maker going to do? Lots of questions still but they are the same questions that can be asked about any team at this point in the year. You also have to wonder about the field... who else is going to make a run at it? -
Also, I imagine IU doesn't want to take Alkins and Gordon in the same class
-
Maybe the same reason my younger brother didn't want to go to IU... he wants forge his own path instead of following footsteps?

Most Important B1G Stars to Return
WindyCitySource replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Also... BTN really needs to get some better analysis. Stephen Bardo can't be your network's go-to for this kind of stuff. There's got to be a better option out there somewhere, right? -
Most Important B1G Stars to Return
WindyCitySource replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
LeVert had little impact on Michigan last year, so I can't fathom how he would be more important to them than Yogi is to IU. Hammons is #1 for me in terms of a team going from nothing to something. Yogi is a huge piece of the puzzle at IU, don't get me wrong, but I feel like his loss could be absorbed a lot better than Hammons' at Purdue. They have to run everything through him if they want to be successful. And I would say putting Trimble as #1 was the default just because he is the most highly touted draft prospect in the conference to come back. Don't think he is as important to Maryland as Hammons/Yogi are to their teams. -
I don't think it should be any surprise to any one that one or both April/Priller will be gone.

OFFICIAL: Ferrell returns for Senior Season
WindyCitySource replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Right choice IMO. Only can help his draft stock (which is borderline at best right now) and has a chance to lead this team to amazing heights. Tons of personal accolades available, as well. I'm sure he'd love to make a run at B1G POY. -
(2016) C Thon Maker

Only four players have ever worn #14 for Indiana, per the IU Media Guide: Gene Demaree, G Paxton Lumpkin, G Robert Masters, G Magnus Pelkowski, C -

He clearly just did a search for #14 Indiana jersey and grabbed whatever came up. Or that's what whomever made this for him did. -
Yogi Leaning towards leaving per multiple sources
WindyCitySource replied to BriscoeShoemaker's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
My thought.... Yogi and fam want to build hype for his decision as much as possible so that it can be that much more exciting when he decides to come back. Positives to staying - chance to make a serious run at another B1G title, and quite possibly a FF or beyond. One more year playing with some of his best friends. Chance to play with Thomas Bryant and maybe even Thon Maker. Cement IU legacy even further. Moving his name up in the record books. Really can't hurt his draft stock at all, since it's not that high at the moment. A big year and a strong team performance can only help. And if he can get to the late first round he will have that ever-important guaranteed contract. Positives to leaving - get paid next year instead of playing for free. Might think that 2nd round is as good as it's going to get. Would rather try and build an overseas and/or NBDL resume before making a serious run at the league. There's a difference between what we perceive he SHOULD do and what he actually will do. But weighing the two options, I feel like the right decision to spend his final year in Bloomington. Will he do that? I don't know for sure. But if I had to pick one or the other I would still go with *staying*. The only for sure here is that we will all be able to breathe much easier in a few short days. -
Yogi Leaning towards leaving per multiple sources
WindyCitySource replied to BriscoeShoemaker's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I love this... Yogi is "leaning towards" leaving. No matter what happens, no one can prove that this statement is incorrect, because you can lean all different ways it doesn't matter. If he stays, he changed his mind. If he leaves, he was leaving all along. Win win win win for JA. -
Seems like they are, but it is only affecting eligibility in the conference (and because of that, the NCAA) tournament. They played in the CIT this year.
