(2019) WR David Bell to Purdue
ThompsonHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
I hope I'm wrong but I just don't see him coming to IU...He will be at Penn State this weekend for the game against Ohio St.; that atmosphere will be hard to top. -
He sprained his ankle in the first quarter of the game...you could notice a slight limp throughout the game. Hopefully he can heal quickly as we'll need his dynamic play ability the rest of the season.

Updated Win Probability by S&P+ (through Week 4)
ThompsonHoosier replied to Aeggie's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
S&P+ rating are a rating system for college football that looks at data from every play and adjust them based on the opponents. It's basically Ken Pomeroy but for college football. This is directly from football outsiders: "The components for S&P+ reflect opponent-adjusted components of four of what Bill Connelly has deemed the Five Factors of college football: efficiency, explosiveness, field position, and finishing drives. (A fifth factor, turnovers, is informed marginally by sack rates, the only quality-based statistic that has a consistent relationship with turnover margins.)" This is their site in case anyone wants to read more on it: https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ncaa -

Purdue decided to play well so far in the first half, let's see if they can keep it up in the second half. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Their punter is also out...backup punter is also their backup QB. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

So the investigation into Jordan McNair's death found Maryland at fault...I don't know how they can justify keeping Durkin employed at this point. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

" I got a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics with an emphasis in Statistics. I chose this major because I love identifying patterns. I decided to create this website to merge my love of sports with my love of math" ....I guess the numbers don't lie, the Hoosiers are the 3rd. best team in the country! We'll see you in January Bama!

In terms of advanced statistics for those of us that enjoy looking at them: IU S&P+ Rank: 23 IU Off. S&P+ Rank: 52 IU Def. S&P+ Rank: 16 IU Special Teams S&P+ Rank: 96 MSU S&P+ Rank: 20 MSU Off. S&P+ Rank: 34 MSU Def. S&P+ Rank: 28 MSU Special Teams S&P+ Rank: 29 Bill Connelly gives us a 53% chance of winning this game. ESPN's Football Power Index still ranks MSU as the 13th. best team in the country and therefore only give us 21% chance of winning. I'm trying to keep my expectations in check as I had us losing this game before the season started; but with the way we've been playing and the improvement we've seen week after week, its hard not to get excited....this is just a huge opportunity for this team!

Let's hope Mizzou takes care of Purdue. I usually root for the conference but I dislike Purdue too much... Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Ramsey may not have the strongest arm but he is consistent and he's in control of this offense at the moment. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk -

ThompsonHoosier replied to mamasa's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
A 3-0 start and looking ahead to an MSU team that hasn't played great and has an early bye this week? Let's just hope we continue to show improvement on both sides of the field and get out of this game injury free. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk -
I'm rooting for GGG to win but I think that unless he KO's Canelo, the judges will not give the fight to him. Oscar is not going to let his cash cow lose. I know GGG is the betting favorite at the moment but just wait until fight time and all the money will probably shift towards Canelo. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Ball St. hung around with a Notre Dame team that beat Michigan pretty handily the previous week. Is Michigan not as good as people think? Is Ball State better than we think? or did Notre Dame simply underestimate Ball State? Either way, I hope we see a game where we take control early and give our second unit some playing time in the second half. -
(2019) DB Tiawan Mullen to IU
ThompsonHoosier replied to lucel15's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
If they end with a 2 or 3 win season, will they be able to keep those 4-star recruits though? -
I wouldn't be surprised to see Purdue end with 2 or 3 wins this season and losing some of their higher rated recruits.

Anyone catch the Indiana reference? Marty Byrd is an Indiana State alumni! Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Also worth pointing out, he visited during the monsoon weekend so he got to experience one of the worst gamedays in recent memory. I think this speaks how highly he thinks of the coaching staff. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk -

Indiana vs Virginia Game Thread 09/08 7:30PM ET BTN
ThompsonHoosier posted a topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Someone had to get this conversation started! Virginia rolls into Bloomington for out home opener after rolling over Richmond 42-13. This is another game that we need to win if we hope to go to a bowl game. Virginia's QB, Bryce Perkins, looks to be very mobile after rushing for 108 yds. and 2 TD's against Richmond. Thankfully, our defense has had to practice against these types of qb's all season long so they should have some experience in dealing with them. The weather forecast may not cooperate as its currently looking like a very wet weekend is ahead of us. This means we will likely see a game relying heavily on the running backs. ESPN's Football Power Index favors Indiana (62.1% vs 37.9%) and Vegas sees us as a 6.5 pt. favorite. Bill Connelly from SBNation sees it differently though; according to his S&P+ metrics, Virginia should beat Indiana by a score of 29-27.
