(2014) PF Emmit Holt to IU
shortspacequickness replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
IMO that's a job saver (should the season go poorly) and puts Indiana in instant position to contend for the whole thing. Ferrell, Blackmon, Williams, Johnson, Robinson, Maker, Perea, Davis...pretty strong. -
(2015) JUCO PF Ray Kasongo

Victor himself has indicated he only had formal offers from Indiana, Maryland, and George Washington I believe. Good example of what I was saying re: Rivals/Scout. The offer lists, etc. are often horribly wrong and out of date. It isn't like Victor is the only example; Crean has a proven track record in this regard. Everyone knows about Wade, but when you think about what he did with Diener, McNeal, Hayward, Matthews, Sheehey, etc. it gives the guy a lot of credibility when it comes to recruiting and evaluating. Often troubles have come from recruiting (Hollowell, Vonleh, Etherington) to the national evaluators that you mention are often accurate to some degree. This is not necessarily true depending on how you look at it. -

I shouldn't be, but surprised some of you guys still care about what schools are recruiting a player. Coaches don't look at Rivals or Scout to see where a kid is rated or who is recruiting him because both are often largely inaccurate. Victor Oladipo had one offer other than Indiana and Maryland. Should we have passed on him? Guys can come from anywhere, even a playground. Who is to say Emmitt Holt isn't getting ready to bloom? Tom Crean has a pretty good track record here... -
Crossroads Classic Extended Through 2019
shortspacequickness replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Not big on making this a long term thing with Purdue, ND, and Butler being who they are as national programs. Turning down a chance to play in an event with UCLA, North Carolina, and Kentucky for this is not the best thing IMO. -
Amazed at the stupidity. Wow.

Perea not with Team due to VISA issues
shortspacequickness replied to djsalway's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I can't believe people really think this matters. Hanner could play every minute of the next four games and it wouldn't make a difference in the BIG TEN. If you really think the basketball staff didn't do everything they could possibly do to prepare all of the details for this trip, then you don't know the coach. He's way past over-involved. -

The outrage over this is nauseating. I, too, don't want to know how some of you react to things that actually matter. Hanner not playing isn't going to change a single thing about this season. Sure, it's unfortunate. But sometimes there's nothing you can do, and that includes anyone--believe it or not--even the head coach at Indiana. I don't think he can alter Canadian law. -
