Bobby Knight might not have practiced it, but some coaches see advantages in developing well rounded players. It's one of the reasons IU landed Vonleh. Though he played inside, he got to develop his skills every day as if he were a wing player.   Hollowell at point guard might be laughable to some, but for a player compared to Evan Turner coming out of high school... it was a good opportunity. It doesn't always work out.   So much criticism with personnel decisions, and yet some pretty big time players keep lining up to play for this guy Crean... just a thought.

I think a lot of people struggle to consider possibilities outside of what they know as fans of basketball; Troy with the ball in his hands attacking the rim is a great thing... don't really see how that could be bad. If he's turning it over, do you really think he's going to be in that position? With the guards we have? Leave it to IU fans to overreact to a passing comment made in an interview, lbs.   Lot of concerns about this team...who plays backup point guard is the least of them. We have Yogi Ferrell, James Blackmon, Robert Johnson. In fine shape there.

I don't think Troy is going to be bringing the ball up the floor. I think this simply means that Troy will be playing, a la Oladipo, with the ball in his hands in the half court with high center ball picks in the middle of the floor. IMO this was coming as Troy's ballhandling improved... if he's there already, IU is in good shape.

Rick Bozich Watches a 2.5 Hour IUBB Practice!

I find passing to be Hartman's best skill. I'm not saying he's going to break into the top ten at any point, but I highly doubt he transfers from IU. Highly doubt that.

Rick Bozich Watches a 2.5 Hour IUBB Practice!

I wouldn't write Collin Hartman off at this juncture...

Does anyone have any practice tape or cook hall...

What Indiana did in Canada has absolutely nothing to do with what will happen this year. Obviously, you have to put 5 out there. But you don't have to put a "5."   If a worst case scenario were to occur, and we all know schoosier loves some worst case scenario planning (vbg), then Troy might be that fifth guy.   IU is clearly at a disadvantage in terms of post depth; but for all the talk about how we are going to guard other people, do we forget they have to guard us too? If someone wants to try and make their post guy beat us, I say go for it. Not many guys, if any, that are good enough to do that. Zone possessions are clearly going to be a part of this team's identity.   It's kind of amazing that there are people who think Tom Crean doesn't know what to do with his own roster.

Troy playing the 5...? and let's talk about how IU fans have a better "IQ" than other fans..

    Best backcourt in the B1G?

Ferrell and Blackmon is a big time backcourt. In the Big Ten, in the country.

(2016) C Joey Brunk to Butler

Not discrediting anyone----but IU is in this solidly.

    April still in boot.

Sad thing is if Holt were 2014 earlier April likely wouldn't be here.

Supposed to visit Michigan State soon. IU making a big impression.

(2015) SG Jalen Coleman to Illinois

It baffles me that grown adults can't understand that a kid just might not want to go to IU.

(2016) SG Rawle Alkins to Arizona

Would be interesting... this kid is big time.

    JaQuan Lyle off the board

It was more than just being the man, though. Rumor has it that some aid was in play with that signing. Not nearly the amount that Anthony Davis, etc. command, but still. Wish IU would play Xavier.

Oh, I see. I think the writing was on the wall. IU's current staff doesn't give guarantees.

This... there were factions on this team big time. The freshmen were idiots. Plain and simple.

I'd look for Brunk to end up at Purdue. edit: not so fast

    Tom Crean ...where is he?

We're really talking about whether we should have run a flex offense in 2008? To get more wins? Why? So we could be 9-22 instead of 6-25? It's Indiana. Not Owen Valley HS. Freakin' flex offense, I got a laugh out of that one, SC, so thanks for that.   I can't wait for the season to start just so the debate can be ended.

Sporting News Picks IU to finish 10th in B1G

I don't think it would be wise to back off of Yogi Ferrell. IU will have to mix it up so that those kinds of adjustments don't happen; I would expect to see a three headed monster at the 1 with Ferrell-Blackmon-Johnson.

(2015) SG Shake Milton to SMU

Yogi will get in the door in the NBA because of his defensive pressure... but he has to improve in all other areas to stay there. This year is huge for him.
