That call is a joke Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
My 7 year old son has been doing that recently. He just watched the IU-Michigan game from 1993. He obviously doesn't know any of the players but is just obsessed with watching basketball. We started doing it last year after COVID canceled the tournament. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

General Coach Candidate News
Hillsdale87 replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think they left out the most important thing though, which is the defensive collapse. I would still be in on Archie if the problem was just inconsistent guard play. He's clearly recognized this and recruited it well the last couple years. I expect guards next year to be a strength. This year, I can't blame Archie for not being able to predict that Rob would significantly regress, that Brunk would miss the full season, and that Franklin would miss significant time and be hobbled even when he could play. These things are all out of his control. Yes, he needs to be able to adjust, but 3 of the top 6 guys coming into the season have not come close to reaching expectations. But there is no excuse for the collapse of the defense. Archie was brought in to be a defensive coach. The team has somehow gotten more clueless defensively as the year has gone on. The effort has been abysmal. Either the coaching has deteriorated or the players are tuning him out. But either way it's hard to see next year being better because it doesn't seem like a problem that can be fixed just by switching out a few players. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

If we hire a new coach, and he can get TJD to stay, I would think this would be a very attractive job. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

He has his flaws, but he has worked to get better every year and always goes hard. He's consistently had to play a more significant role than he should have because of lack of surrounding talent. He's an ideal 6th/7th man, and I think if he would have been able to play that role, his flaws would not have been as exposed and he would have gotten a lot of love from IU fans. Pretty eye opening to see the difference between what Michigan does on offense and what IU does. I think IU's offensive system is ok, but Michigan's is great. When Howard got hired, everybody knew he would be able to recruit, but the question was whether he could coach. So far it seems like he's answered that question. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Galloway has to be the worst player with regular playing time in the Big 10. Archie is just putting him in position to fail. I have been one of Archie's biggest defenders. I thought the team was making progress. But the last few games have been such disasters. He's not putting guys in position to succeed. I don't see how he comes back next year Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

We are so clueless on defense. Open guys everywhere. We looked like a good defensive team early this season. I don't know what happened Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

It's crazy how good TJD is, and yet how much better it feels like he could be. So many misses at the rim but still averages 20 a game Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I think he will be. He's comfortable with the ball, sees the floor well. His biggest problem seems to be that the pace is too quick, which isn't shocking since he's a very young freshman. He made some great drives last night, and then just couldn't convert. He's rushing his shots. If the game slows down for him, I think he'll be great.

Yes, and it was really a worst case scenario because Rob looked like the PG of the future during his freshman year, which took PG off of the list of high priorities for 2019. If Rob had been a dud as a freshman, Archie would have had a chance to try to fix it with the next class. But unfortunately Rob's roller coaster development hamstrung the PG position for 2-3 years
-
I think that's probably right. He was good for a young freshman, but that's not the same as being actually good. He's never even been average, but that Butler shot was awesome.
-
I think people overrate freshman Rob because of how bad Junior Rob is. He averaged 7 points and 3 assists on 36% shooting. He showed promise, but Rob has never actually been a good player at IU. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Their guys who are terrible shooters are hitting shots. IU is not playing defense, but coming into the game they would have been fine with Baker and Harper shooting 3s. They're 30% shooters, but they've made 10 today... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Rob got fouled, then TJD got fouled, and then they finally called it on the third one Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My goodness Trey... He's clearly not ready. Why is Archie playing him?
-
Ron Harper was 1 for his last 27 from 3. He's 4-5 today of course...
-
At least he made it better by immediately launching a terrible 3

Why is Galloway on the court?!
