Indiana is a bad team, but with a lot of talent. The talent just often doesn't make sense together. Everybody in the starting lineup is a 4 or 5*. So for small stretches, things can click. But the lack of cohesion/plan is a killer outside of small glimmers of hope. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This gets back to my point about talent though. The problem is not with the offensive philosophy, it's with the talent. College talent is significantly diluted since guys started leaving early regularly. I think even if you moved the best coaching from the 80s to today it wouldn't be nearly as effective, both because the offensive skill level is lower, and the defensive athleticism is much greater. You can't compare teams from the 80s and 90s to today. None of those teams would exist today because almost all of the players would have already been in the NBA for 2 years. I don't know about college, but NBA offenses have never been more efficient than they are right now, and the shooting is stuff that guys in the 80s and 90s wouldn't even have been able to imagine. If college scoring and/or efficiency is down from the 80s and 90s, it's likely just because the overall talent in college is lower as guys now leave early compared to guys like MJ, Hakeem, Drexler, Ewing, etc., who stayed 3 or 4 years.
