Track Set to Compete in Three Meets The Hoosier track and field team will be sending athletes to three different meets this weekend. The throwers will head to Athens, Georgia on Saturday for the Georgia Invitational. The remaining field athletes and multis will be in Des Moines, Iowa for the Drake Relays. The largest group, most of the running athletes, will be headed to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the Penn Relays. Dylan Anderson will compete in the decathlon for the first time this season. Michelle Adeniyi and Alice Babashak will compete in the heptathlon. They will be in competition on Wednesday and Thursday. After a big weekend against Purdue, Paul Galas and Treyton Harris will both be in action. Galas will jump in the high jump while Harris competes in the long jump. Both Sydney Clute and Sophie Gutermuth will be competing in the women's pole vault. In the biggest track meet of the weekend, Indiana will have approximately 40 student-athletes competing. Head coach Ron Helmer is very excited for the Penn Relays, as he thinks several school records could fall. With the emergence of freshmen Riley Egbula and Taylor Williams the 4x400m relay should be very competitive and crack the top ten in school history. The men's distance medley relay (DMR) team of Matt Schwartzer, Markevious Roach, Daniel Kuhn, and Rorey Hunter put up huge numbers in the indoor season and will look to do the same this weekend. Nakel McClinton and Laura Schroeder will both continue to pursue an Olympic Trials appearance in the hammer throw. Currently, McClinton ranks sixth in the country with a school record mark of 65.12m (213ft-8in). Schroeder is 12th nationally with the second best heave in school history. Her mark is 63.45m (208ft-2in). Live stats will be posted on the Track and Field Twitter page throughout the weekend. Live Stats from the Drake Relays can be followed here.
