Completely agree with your assessment.

There's this thing called context.. And if you read what I actually wrote, I said there were some bad defenses that made it to the Conf Champ as well. My specific comment about some of these Super Bowl teams was mediocre.
-
You're the only one who said bad... My word was mediocre.
-
They are an elite offense. I'm not sure how anyone could argue against that. Don't think they win the Super Bowl, but from what I've seen from the Colts, no way I'd pick them if they make it to KC... I actually hope I'm wrong because I'd love to see the Ravens beat the Colts in the AFC Championship.

I guess as a Baltimore Ravens fan I really didn't pay too much attention to the specific defensive rankings year in and year out.. They didn't own my franchise for a decade like they did the Colts. And for reference, these were not 'great' defenses. Mediocre with a few stars who could make plays. Here's what I could find as far as the Super Bowl seasons go... I don't think it's daring to say they made it to the AFC Championship with some bad defenses as well. : 2003 - #7 rated defense 2004 - #9 rated defense 2011 - #31 rated defense (Lost SB) 2014 - #13 rated defense 2016 - #8 rated defense 2017 - #29 rated defense (Lost SB)

Yeah totally.. Played football for 12 years for the Department of Motor Vehicles.
-
Who have the Colts beaten? The Cowboys and Texans? Nobody with an above average offense. Houston comes in at #15 in total offense and the Giants at #17... The remaining 8 wins were against teams who couldn't move the ball. That's all I'm saying.. In order to beat the best offense in the league with receiving weapons all over the field, you are going to trust your 16th ranked pass defense and hope you can keep up the pace on offense? Eh. I guess we beg to differ on this one.

I think I have a pretty good understanding of the game.. I played it very competitively for 12 years in the DMV. How about you?
-
Guess I shoulda checked that. Guess it just seems like they don’t play defense. Regardless, I’m sticking with KC if the Colts get there for all of the other reasons I’ve listed minus the defense, which I was wrong about. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Anything is possible, but I disagree.. The Ravens went across the country and spanked them 2 weeks ago. Gonna be hard to come into a crazy home atmosphere with the league's #1 ranked defense and get a win IMO.
-
Agreed... But those Colts teams played almost every game in a dome. On turf.. And when it came time to play in NE, they would always go up there and lose. If you look at the Patriot's SB victories from the early 00's, they were doing it with all offense and no defense. I think there is a major difference between putting up 425 yards of offense/game on turf and putting up 425 yards per game in a cold-weather outdoor stadium.
-
Are you taking the Colts to win? I don't really compare the two teams. Mahomes is a completely different player than Manning.. Not saying KC is a lock for the Super Bowl. But if they lose, I think it's to the Patriots or potentially the Ravens in an AFC Championship game. I looked at the Colt's schedule.. They haven't played a good offensive team since the Patriots in week 5. Since then you've got the Bills, Raiders, Jags, Titans, Dolphins, Cowboys, Giants, and Texans. The Texans are #15. The rest are in the bottom third of the league in terms of team offense. I'm not so sure they can go on the road, in cold weather, against this KC offensive juggernaut, and win.

Crazy weekend of football.. Ravens pulled it out over the Browns, who I think are going to be really good if they can keep their core together. Baker Mayfield looks like the real deal. Gets the ball out so quickly. Hard to pressure him. Chubb and Njoku are legit too. I've got the Ravens winning at home and losing to the Patriots on the road. Colts have been VERY impressive over the last 10 game stretch and I have them beating Houston... But winning a game at KC seems like a major mountain to climb for a team who is mediocre against the pass. The only "elite" QB they've seen all year was Brady who passed for 340 and 3 TD's. I've got the Colts losing a tight one in KC.

Hoping for a Ravens win, Colts win, and losses for NE and Houston. Ravens would clinch a bye and Colts would win their division if my memory is correct. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

What’s with the use of the word ‘dude’? Is that because I used it once? Are you trying to be funny? I don’t really understand what’s going on right now.. But yeah, getting smashed in the head is never good. Short term effects suck. Long term effects can be really bad. Takes your brain between a week to 12 weeks to recover. You should maybe check into it. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Gone totally overboard? Dude, do everyone a favor, grab a book, open it up, look for the section about CTE, do your homework, then post comments. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

In case anyone doesn't know about it.. Here's the Massey Ratings site. It ranks teams based on an average of a bunch of other rating services, including the NET. It also has links to all of those individual rating systems. Very cool resource! https://www.masseyratings.com/cb/compare.htm

Ravens control their own destiny though. Win and they're in. However, they are at the Chargers this week. So I'm not holding my breath. Ravens fans need the Steelers to lose to the Saints and Bengals so they can win the division, because if not, and they lose to the Chargers, it'll be the winner of the Colts - Titans game in the 6th and final wild card spot.

Indiana needs shooters so bad. Why would they not offer this dude? 21-23 from the field? If he's a hard worker, why let him go to Butler or Fort Wayne, just to come back and torch us for 40 in a non-conference game? -
