Potential fallout from coaching change
DawgBawls replied to HoosiersLoveBanners's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
If 12 mill or even 7mil is the buyout...how much money is IU losing in sales? U of L out sells everyone and rakes in CASH. If IU was performing how many sales would it take to cover the buyout? -

I would love to see the best talent in the NCAA and not DL or overseas but I also want STUDENT-athletes. There are some great minds that don't go to college and just go straight to work and excell. Athletes are no different. The greatest players should be able to go pro when THEY want to...not for us, a school, a state, a company, but for them. This is America and with any entity such as government or a corperation having that type of control over someone or something when they are not paying or rewarding them, then I have issues with it. If they are 16, 17, 18, 19 or whatever, the Dallas mavericks should be able to offer a contract the same as a University (LOI) could. Its the individual choice of what to do with his skills and labor. Thats my thought on the one and done. Now...If the kid WANTS to go to school then yeah he has to follow the rules of the governing body...but saying a freshman can't play will just keep kids from going to college that prolly wouldn't have any other opptunities, thats to include pro ball. Imagine that there are 50 ONDers...They say to the system "I'm not going to college and sit out a yr as freshman, Im going to go pro." GREAT!...but out of that 50...5 stay in NBA, 10 OS, and 10 in DL. Thats 25 kids that are jobless and can't go to school now on a scholarship that they could have had two yrs prior. That would get real ugly, real quick. And we ALL know more then 50 will try every year but fail. Then what for them? Atleast a ONDer could get some decent credits to help get into school later if Pro doesn't work out...the rest...forget about it.
