The fans aren't going to the games?

Love my Hoosiers and love my country. The chance to witness the U.S. winning the biggest prize in the World's game would be pretty amazing. And like I said the party after would be unmatched.

Not sure why World Cup is referenced throughout this thread but will I get kicked off the site if I admit in a choice between an IU National Title and a US World Cup title I probably am taking the World Cup? I mean a US World Cup victory would be a week long party throughout the country. That'd be a damn good time.

I say yes because you've played organized basketball more recently than posters who played in college.

Not a single vote in any poll

Agreed who cares about ranking at this point. Win 2 of the next 3 and we should be breathing easy come Selection Sunday

    Upcoming Schedule

I don't put too much stock in the win yesterday either but I have to give this team credit for doing what we all have asked for awhile against lesser opponents, which is dominate and continue to build the lead throughout the game. If IU won by 3 yesterday everyone would be all over the fact that we nearly lost to the worst team in B1G. So in the counterfactual where IU wins by 30 you have to give some credit to the Hoosiers. No one else in B1G has beaten them by that much.

    Upcoming Schedule

Meant to bring this back up after the third set of games but after the Purdue loss had to give myself a bit of a break.  Anyway before the season we knew that third set was important and 3 of 4 was needed.  2-2 isn't so bad after all given that we started the season 4-0 in the league.   As much as the third set of games hurt (especially the Purdue loss) remember that we were 2 Yogi Ferrell 3-pointers away from going 4-0 over that stretch.  YES I agree that you don't get wins for what-ifs but regardless you can't just ignore it because you're then ignoring the reality which is that this team has played really well over the last 5 games.  3-2 is not what we all wanted but when you're 6 points from it being 5-0 with two wins coming in blowout fashion it is tough for me to sit here and not roll my eyes when people say this team is regressing in any manner.   We got the 1st win in the fourth set of games last night.  3 games left and 3-0 is possible.  Many on here jumping off the bandwagon to the point that some on a thread after the Purdue game stated they kinda are just hoping we blow it down the stretch to give the administration an excuse to get rid of Crean.  That is absurd.  Get excited for these final 3 and a run in the BTT and NCAA tournament.  This team has EARNED that respect.  Even if you don't like Crean just sit back and enjoy what should be a great final month to the season because in over a month there will be no more Hoosier basketball until November!     Now that is depressing!

More people giving April credit than Hanner who is developing into the quality big we need.

IU vs Rutgers Post Game Thread

It was packed with IU fans and I can confirm contrary to what people said about games at MSG there was no booing of Crean at any time.

    NIT

IU fans rooting against the team doing well exemplifies 2014-15 IU. You will all remember the year fans openly rooted against a team and discounted anything it did do that it's opinion on the coach was validated. Incidentally if you're rooting for IU to lose any games just go ahead and root for a different school

    Government and Sports

Scholarships, cash money and loans is my guess.

    Government and Sports

The NCAA is under fire in the judicial system.  Between the O'Bannon case and the push for unionization the courts will be forced to hear cases on the matter of student-athlete rights more and more until there is some sort of legislative ruling on how the NCAA is able to operate as a not-for-profit.  So we can either get that process started on the legislative side or continue to have court proceedings on the matter that are extremely costly to all taxpayers.   Also, the US Government does have business in this matter as every NCAA institution accepts federal funds and grants.   Bringing key stakeholders together to discuss the topic as the White House is doing seems to me to be a step in the right direction.

The fans aren't going to the games?

His statements just scream total cluelessness on this topic.  He says that east coasters are ruining IU which is completely absurd.  A diverse campus community with students from across the globe that bring different ideas and perspectives is GREAT for Indiana University.     As far as fans I agree with you assessment.  I lived in a house with 6 guys, all from out of state and we went to every game, every year.  Nearby were two houses full of other guys that we hung out with a lot.  All 10 of these guys were from Indiana and never got season tickets and never went to a game.  His straw man argument is just totally dumb.   ALSO, the dude sends his son to Michigan, which has built a reputation of being an elite public institution by accepting a ton of out-of-state and international students.  He pays out-of-state tuition.  I doubt he thinks students like his son are ruining Michigan.

The fans aren't going to the games?

I am from PA, my dad graduated from IU in 1976 and I grew up with IU Basketball as a major part of my relationship with dad.  When it came time for college I could have gone to Penn State or IU.  I decided that IU was the place for me carrying on my family tradition.  For 5 years I lived, worked, played and spent a decent amount of money going to college in the State of Indiana.  Went to every single game while I was on campus and the team was consistently losing by double digits.  Was very involved on campus working and in volunteer roles.     But sure call all east coast student jackasses and say you have no respect for them on the air.     He did say his daughter is going there next year.  I pray that she meets and brings home a boyfriend from Long Island.

Dakich calling east coast students jackasses right now.

About 75% of the balcony is reserved for students so the answer is yes.

    2015 NBA Draft...

It is possible in the sense that it is something he would be able to do under NCAA rules.  It seems so not plausible to me that he would want to go elsewhere.  I'd put it at <1% chance.

Yogi as a grad transfer would be totally shocking and seems incredibly unlikely.

The fans aren't going to the games?

Anecdotally I had season tickets for all four years of undergrad.  For the past three years I sat with the same group of 7 that were from the following states:   2 from MI 3 from PA 1 from NJ  1 from IN   This group did not miss a game during the extreme lean years 2008-11.   The one from IN joined our seating group because she had seats with a whole group from Ft Wayne her freshman year (when we had Eric Gordon) and none of that group went to any of the games.     It has nothing to do with where you are from whether you go to a basketball game.

The fans aren't going to the games?

The idea that IU is being overrun by the NY crowd to the detriment of Indiana residents is way overblown. The reason IU has so many out of state students is not because of the east coast but actually because of its proximity to Chicago. But calling out those from Chicago (or actually the suburbs) goes against the whole Midwesterners hating on east coasters vibe.

    2015 NBA Draft...

Right now DraftExpress has the following rankings: Yogi: 41 JBJ: 43 Troy: 52 I don't think any of them leave unless they have a big jump over the next month and they're a sure fire 1st round pick. I think all 3 return as of now. If we make a run to elite 8/final 4 behind some insane performances by any of these three all bets are off.

Kind of unbelievable.  Not that he needs it but I am sure he is out to show everyone that he was snubbed the rest of this season.

IU vs Minny Post Game Thread

Continually impressed by this team's ability to grab boards on both ends of the floor.  These kids really do a great job despite being smaller than the competition.     The ball movement this season has been the best in the Crean era.     When Yogi gets in the middle of a defense it opens everything up on the floor.     Really fun to watch.  Let's run the table.  5 more left.

    Hoosiers vs Gophers Game Thread

This is going to be a battle. After a rough start to B1G season Minny is surging. A win tonight puts them in the bubble conversation. Hope our guys come ready to play. This will be a great primer for this team heading into Purdue as Minny exhibits some size. Need Hanner to have a presence.
