Vonleh Talks About NBA Choice
No, the insight is he would walk out without getting anything to eat and his naivety that there wouldn't be anything but mushroom pizza left when there are 15 full pizzas left. They all get a a full size pizza and/or a sandwich. Everyone else feels so entitled to what they want. He was always polite and had no expectations. I am a big fan! Sent from the gym using BtownBanners
His only expectation was playing on the wing more! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

    Basketball4u? Are u safe?

Haha not a matter of being pleased or not. We all come here to discuss IU Hoops. If you need to act like an insider to make that more fun for you thats fine. If you convince people you actually are an insider more power to you. If you come on any of these sites thinking that someone who has minimal posts and no track record is gonna spill the beans on all the program's secrets you are nearly as foolish as Manti Teo Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

    Basketball4u? Are u safe?
He had it right down to the day it would happen. I'm not saying follow his every word but dang it seems like you're nit-picking just to complain about him. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
The day after spring break ends is like the black Monday of NFL coaches for college bball transfers. Happens every year on that day. Just look at all the other non IU announcements that day. Just think it's funny for a guy to come on a message board, make a couple obvious guesses, be right then post multiple times that "I've been right" "here's a random general story" and everyone just eats it up.
Yes because the walk-ons were so obvious right? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
My understanding is he said Marlin would transfer correct? Certainly something that could have been guessed. I am unconvinced he's such an insider as people on here act like. Look at their twitter feed etc. Interesting to come about end of season with a couple tidbits that were obvious to build some cred. Just because you knew Marlin would transfer means nothing. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

    Vonleh Talks About NBA Choice
Well why not, Crean kept telling everyone he was the most athletic guy on the team right??? and everybody was made to believe that he was gonna be a stud...he's obviously improved some(keyword some) this year, so why not with Noah? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
The hype of Hanner had much less to do with Crean and much more to do with fans salivating over highlight videos. The revisionist history that Crean hyped Hanner is comical. It was all fans on message boards like this one! Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

    Coach Crean's Subtweets

I would guess its Vonleh.  Given the quote and that entire article.  The writer has a prior relationship with Noah and they quote his AAU coach.  Just my guess but it seems to align with what Crean says.

    Vonleh Talks About NBA Choice

Correct, here are the first three paragraphs of the article:   "It’s easy for Dick Vitale and the rest of the folks profiting off the Billion Dollar Baby — aka the NCAA Basketball Tournament — to lament the losses of the Jabari Parkers and Noah Vonlehs to the NBA.   They stand, high and mighty, and talk about young players that remain underdeveloped and in “need” of coaching from the likes of Tom Crean, Rick Pitino and the immortal Mike Krzyzewski. Well, folks, like it or not, Haverhill’s Noah Vonleh is leaving your imperfect little NCAA world where the athletes are exploited and the coaches/colleges cash in."

Pretty sure the current mock drafts all already had Embiid declaring

    Vonleh Talks About NBA Choice

From the tone of the article its pretty clear the agenda of the writer.  He asked leading questions to get the quote he wanted from Noah.  The fact is Noah came to IU and after a year will go very high in the draft.  He was able to display skills on the wing as well as down low.  I think the argument that he would not have played a lot of minutes at center at another school doesn't hold much merit considering other experiences of NBA power forwards in college.

    Vonleh Talks About NBA Choice

Keep in mind jsut two paragraphs later the writer says:   "Is Vonleh’s baseline say two-time NBA All-Star Joakim Noah of the Chicago Bulls? Potentially."   So was he out of position or not?  Guys on the wing in the NBA are typically the size of college centers.   Noah is going top 10, maybe top 5, in what is considered one of the more loaded drafts in recent memory. The reason for this is he solidified himself as best rebounder in the class by playing at center and leading the B1G in rebounding.

    Coach Johnson takes to Twitter

Highlighting one portion of your post, "typical coach speak" it is called that for a reason.  Find me a coach who doesn't do this in a post game press conference.  I am sure Crean knows why we lost just as much as any fan.  I am cool with people criticizing Crean for all of the other points you made on subs, adjustments, etc. but I just think the "he doesn't say much in press conferences" "talks in coach speak" criticisms are weak.

    Coach Johnson takes to Twitter

Pretty sure this coaching staff is evaluated on a very obvious scale of wins and loses over 30 times a year.  Every recruit they talk to is analyzed.  They also do pre and post game press conferences and are available to the media a lot.  They are as straightforward with assessment of the games as any staff in the country.   If you think Crean and his staff have less evaluation and are held less accountable at their job than the average joe you're crazy.

    Coach Johnson takes to Twitter

I would argue a public message board is a form on new media.  Things written on twitter and facebook both fall in the social media category.  It's a new age and the media is much more broad then the sources you just named.

    Hollowell & Etherington transferring..

Also sometimes people learn info secondhand and decide its upon them to release it unbeknownst to the original source.     I think someone telling you something knowing you're the founder of a large message board is different then telling a friend and/or family member.  They know you will be smart with any information.
  17. TheStillman

    Hollowell & Etherington transferring..

Yeah I would certainly be careful if I were you.  Whether yourself or a family member works for the university or athletic department, if they figure out the information you've been disclosing and can tie it back to you and/or said family member I think someone would probably lose their job.  This message board is extremely public.
  18. TheStillman

    Hollowell & Etherington transferring..

yes but larger national publications would be all over this if one of the "sources" approached them.  ESPN, SI, Yahoo, I am sure they would love to have a story that encompassed on all of the stories that are being reported as fact here.
  19. TheStillman

    Hollowell & Etherington transferring..

Don't you think if this occurred and players are angry about it we will likely see this in an actual media source soon?
  20. TheStillman

    Hollowell & Etherington transferring..

It is hard for me to believe that Crean would pile on seniors like that, specifically the walk ons.  You can believe your sources and I appreciate sharing the information you've heard but unless this comes from a trusted media source or I hear it directly from someone within the program it seems far too outlandish for me to believe.  Calling out that everyone will be broke and divorced?  C'mon now.

    Hollowell & Etherington transferring..

I was tough in my posts, but thanks think it is worth the discourse.

    Hollowell & Etherington transferring..

But don't worry if a guy who may or may not be in the know says players fail drug tests thats totally fair game here.     As far as why three kids decided not to pursue spending hours upon hours of work while not receiving a scholarship or academic help there's a story that we are not privy to.
  23. TheStillman

    Hollowell & Etherington transferring..

We're not allowed to know, but just know that there is a story and it's not good.  Don't  worry about specifics just know that there's a not good story surrounding this.

    Hollowell & Etherington transferring..
It's not unfair, but it's just not going to happen. Let's say someone reveals his source -- "Well, I play golf with Player X's dad and he was the one who told me those things." Guess what happens next? Player X's dad finds out that his golfing buddies are spreading the info around on the internet and golf conversations suddenly get a lot less interesting. No more info for anyone. It's up to you whether or not you trust unsourced info, and no one blames people who don't, but just because a source isn't revealed doesn't automatically mean the info is wrong.
Agreed about not revealing sources but it would seem to me that even without naming sources if that sensitive info was released on a free message board and the source saw it they would know who it came from. Don't know why the poster has any incentive to share. Anyone who has followed IU Message boards for years knows that every couple years a guy builds up cred, states a rumor as fact and then is never heard from again when the rumor is found to not be true. It's a cycle and it happens all the time. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners
