Daily MLB Banter

The game will more than likely be rained out but Manny Machado is being activated from the DL today.  The defensive maestro is back!   Let's Go O's!

Who would you hire to replace CTC?
The way he was playing even early in the year the staff should've known it was a very real possibility. To say know one saw it coming means even during the year no one knew, and that is either a complete lie or they were blind.
But the point remains in order to plan for it recruiting wise they would've needed to anticipate this in April 2012. There was just no indication that Oladipo was not going to be a 4 year player at that point. Look back at previews in fall 2012 of that team. It's almost comical because Oladipo isn't even mentioned, it's all Zeller, Watford and Hulls. Of course we all knew what we had in Oladipo but I think if you polled most of IU fans and writers who follow the team a high majority (>90%) would have said that Oladipo would be here in 2013-14. You live in this world where hindsight is 20-20 and it makes you seem smart but your gripe with Crean on this is a bit ridiculous. No one in spring 2012, when it would have mattered for planning future year rosters, thought Oladipo was gone. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

Who would you hire to replace CTC?
"No one foresaw Cody or Vic leaving early"- Crean I still say that line is pure BS.
Honest question almighty JS did you know Vic would leave early? Look back to November 2012, show me where anyone was predicting Victor leaving for NBA early. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

Who would you hire to replace CTC?
..... So we can only hire mediocre coaches now? The argument that we should just ride it out with Crean just seems completely insane to me. If he continues to be mediocre as a coach how can that be seen as acceptable.
What's insane is firing a coach at the cost of $14 million dollars a year after winning the conference and being #1 most of year. "Riding it out" is not the same as giving coach the benefit of one down year before running him out of town. Let's see what happens next year Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

It's 2008, a look into the Crystal Ball

For a first head coaching stop winning 66% of games over 9 years, bringing a program to its first final 4 in almost 30 years and leading a program from being a mid major to being in arguably the best conference at that time with little drop off in record is pretty impressive. Not sure your definition of great but Crean's resume at Marquette isn't mediocre and it is pretty close to what a resume would look like for most candidates that would replace him.       What are you even talking about?
  10. TheStillman

    A program of excuses

BINGO.  Really do not understand what people want from Crean and Glass.  You ask them to give some answers as to why all this is happening and in the same breath you say no more excuses.  If they would have a big press conference with answers on why all this is happening you'd say they're just making excuses.

    A program of excuses

When a player is put in a game and the fans boo it does not matter if it was directed at coach.  The player knows they are booing because the he is in the game, which I'm sure is very encouraging and makes the player want to stick around to play for these fans.

    Kj's replacement

Please source this or don't post it.  As far as I know he himself has not let it be known.  "Insiders" with clear agendas have claimed that Calbert was "not impressed" with the program but never sourced it.

    Kenny Johnson to Louisville

    Kenny Johnson to Louisville

My point is he shouldn't act like he's not speaking for KJ and Calbert by making these claims because to some he has "credibility" on here.  By acting like an insider he is speaking for them.
  15. TheStillman

    A program of excuses

IU won that game where the fans booed Crean.  In addition the opposing coach lauded Crean after because he came up with such a creative defensive gameplan.  Booing the coach and team is not something to be proud of.  In fact a lot of people are mad about Marlin leaving and blame Crean, any chance that he is leaving because every time he was brought in the game he was booed by his own fans?
  16. TheStillman

    Kenny Johnson to Louisville

By acting as an insider on a free message board and posting this kind of thing you speak for KJ just like you speak for Calbert.  Now everyone will just say "bball4u said KJ wasn't happy with Crean!  He said it and he's in the know!"

He didn't really experience much success It always rubs me the wrong way that the guy openly promotes himself for the job on twitter while also tweeting multiple times with anti-Crean posts. Trey Lyles

If Lee goes anywhere it is to the NBA.  No doubt he would be selected in the 1st round.
  25.   We win our first outright B1G title in 20 years and people call it mediocre.  You guys are delusional.
