Outside of that play where he got blocked Troy was pretty outstanding for IU last night. He deserves criticism for that play but not much else. -
Holt also missed the 10 practices and ensuing trip to Montreal plus came late in August. I just don't have much faith that you play him for 10 minutes in a game at this point and he will result in +4 points for us over anyone else.

IUBB vs. Eastern Washington Post Game Thread
TheStillman replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
With a small lineup our only hope is to value every possession as an essential commodity, stop penetration off dribble and defend the 3. We failed at all three of those aspects of the game last night. The effort on defense was alarming as was the effort on offense in the 2nd half outside of Yogi and Troy. Yes Troy got blocked because he was showboating which was killer but his effort kept us in that game. Crean needs to get these guys to perfect those three aspects of the game or he will no longer be the coach here. Simple as that. -
Didn't we just play 3 games in 5 days?
-
That's fair but I still don't think he is the difference maker in that game when our guards play matador defense.
-
So you think if we play Holt we win last night? I really don't think it would've made a difference.
-
I think the lineups we saw last night are indicative of the way this team will play and how Crean will sub. Especially in a game like this where SMU was slowing things down and forcing us to effectively play a half court game the most important aspect of winnning will be limiting mistakes. This was a really important game for the Hoosiers. To risk putting in a freshman who had never played in a D1 game would not have been smart. I thought the 10 minutes where we played lineups that included 4 guards plus Troy or Hartman were effective and gave us some mismatches. Those lineups can be important to this team as it allows us to force bigger teams to play how we want to play. The misconception is that a bigger team will always have the mismatch but I really think the 4 guard with a wing at center give us a big advantage depending on the team. The only reason this is being discussed is because this was Holt's first game back from suspension. I don't see any "No Priller?" threads or "No April?" threads. Crean went with the guys he felt could win this game for the Hoosiers and that is something many criticized him for last year. I welcome a more tight lineup. Excited to see what Holt can bring to the table but I do not expect him to contribute more than 10 mins a game. I am fine with Hanner giving empty minutes from a box score perspective so long as he is eating minutes, staying on the floor and limiting mistakes, which he did last night. I view the center position for IU this year the way I view the starting rotation of my Baltimore Orioles. We need guys who will eat minutes the same way an average starting pitcher will eat innings. Win the game by exploiting your other advantages.

Stan and Troy suspended for failed drug tests..

160 pages for Moses Malone? I remember that thread from 1973. Was a shame when he decided to just go pro in the ABA. If you're talking about Moses Abraham (Ayegba), which I am sure you are, I also remember that night. We'll see him in action this year at Nebraska -
Can Crean stay in Bloomington?

Get to the tournament, lose no major pieces to NBA and have the outlook going into next season of a top 15 team. -
Former Hoosiers Weigh In on IU's Issues
TheStillman replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think the point is correct though. As a locker room these kids need to stop focusing on what has already happened. There decisions alone have put them in this position. As Jordy says go attack it and reverse this trend. Prove us all wrong. -
If Crean would've given one or two sentence answers everyone would say it wasn't sufficient. Instead he went in depth and talked for 45 minutes on all the topics we all want to hear from him on and the story on here is that he's too long winded, going on tangents. What the hell do people want? If this press conference wasn't good enough what should he have done differently? I don't mean to attack anyone, I am honestly curious.

Former Hoosiers Weigh In on IU's Issues

http://www.insidethehall.com/2014/11/05/hulls-iu-players-must-hold-accountable/ Hulls calls notion that Crean should be fired for recent events "ridiculous" -
Greenberg got fired from Virginia Tech. He'd be a terrible hire for IU

Guys no worries there either will or will not be news at 6:30. Repeat there may be news, also there may not be

In that season it was not the failed drug tests that took Sampson down, it was NCAA violations. Armon sat multiple games due to failed drug tests early in season (missed the Kentucky game) and it was not a big deal. The season went on and everyone was excited up until the NCAA violations came out.

I question the judgment of someone who is openly bad-mouthing a former boss in today's day and age. Good luck passing the Google test for the next job interview Tyler.

http://www.wdrb.com/story/27268917/bozich-the-angry-basketball-discussion-at-indiana-begins-with-syracuse Not sure if this was posted elsewhere but worth a read. It all comes back to the Syracuse loss and winning as a whole. Look at the two different programs and actions related to player incidents. Crean has done way more than Boeheim with discipline and yet here we stand. The reason the pitchforks are out is truly because of Syracuse-61 IU-50 followed by a 17-15 year. If it was IU-61 Syracuse-50 followed by a 23 win season none of this would even register as events that would put Crean's job in trouble. I am not saying anyone's opinion should be different based on hypotheticals. But it is worth discussing what truly matters to those of you who want Crean gone after the events of this week. Are the off the court incidents really why you want Crean gone? Or is it the product on the court? If I had to guess it is the latter.

I don't think you'd have to trade any girls if you were an IU basketball player

Tom Crean Radio Show - 11/3/14 Live Updates

He didn't say he was unaware of failed drug tests. He talked about them in first segment. He did say he was unaware of an espn report which was released moments before the show. -

Correct, he said he had not read any espn report. But before that question he said they decided to announce the suspensions tonight. -

I get that but I thought it was well known that a suspension occurred only after multiple failed tests, which people can debate me on but I think that is the right approach with college students. -
