IMHO he was a good player
    ________
Jerry Sloan was a good enough college basketball player to be selected 4th in the 1965 NBA draft. So I suppose in your opinion you have to be selected in the top 3 in the draft to be better than just a "good" college  player.

No need to get upset because we have a difference of opinion. Did you see him play at U of E?

  2. Jerry Sloane, father of IU BB player alum, Brian Sloane, and Basketball Hall of Fame coach passed away.

This past February our girls played in the Supersectional in his hometown. I met his cousin at the game. The gym is named after him.

Mo Creek   @Mo_Creek · 9h   It’s crazy how loved I am from @IndianaMBB fans..to be honest I never really felt apart of the process after my freshman year....maybe I was more apart of the process than I know #ThankYou   Thankful_Grateful_2020.png&key=b4192e58b5e23ec9240716c0dcd46ebd5308d7827916eb0b313e39eb59ba8de6 #MuchLoveIU

Excellent player for IU until his devastating injury. He committed to IU without visiting the campus.

  4. This isn’t something Dook just started doing recently. They’ve played the game for at least 20 years. Are people still this naive to believe Dook can land top players just because of their name? Kids (see: handlers) would rather play at an LSU and get paid than going to Dook to play for free.

Scouts will find talent whether their at Dook or a DePaul/Creighton.

I believe Duke has been cheating for years, just as some other schools have.

  5. Yeah, not to turn this thread sideways, but Calipari has been extremely successful at UK. I know National Titles are the goal and he's had a ton of talent, but National Titles are hard and also take a great deal of luck.
Cal has been to 7 Elite Eights and 4 Final Fours in 10 years at UK (not counting this season since there was no tournament). Indiana has been to 8 Elite Eights and 6 Final Fours in the last 47 years. So yes, while 1 National Title has been a little disappointing for him, Cal has been wildly successful at UK.

    Indeed!

  6. As I'm sure everyone knows by now, we lost Gary Overley Jr better known here and around the IUBB message board community as CCGeneral. Everyone knows the countless hours he put in over the years to the message board, but we all know his true pride and joy was the recruiting section, they truly were his baby.

With that being said, the idea was presented to the mod team and they jumped all over the idea. So from this point forward, the recruiting sections on BTB will now be known as the "CCGeneral" Gary Overley Jr Recruiting Section.

RIP Buddy, we all miss you around here!

    Excellent!

  7. From Stock Risers, more background on Gabe Wiznitzer, a name that just surfaced last month.
Hargrave’s Gabe Wiznitzer had himself quite the high school season and it led to a breakout in his recruitment. Named one of the top players at this year’s HoopHall, he landed himself plenty of offers and has absolutely no shortage of suitors.
“Xavier, Providence, Cincinnati, Clemson, and DePaul are on me pretty hard,” Wiznitzer told Stockrisers.com. In addition, he said that Kansas State, Ohio State and Indiana are some of the newer schools to reach out and show interest in the 6-foot-11 big.
As far as visits go, he had scheduled an official visit to Providence scheduled for March. Due to the Corona Virus, that was forced to get cancelled but it hasn’t stopped Ed Cooley’s hard pursuit of one of his top targets. “Coach Cooley and I have been talking on the phone,” he said. Plus, he has a scheduled virtual call next week with Cooley and some members of his staff.
In addition, Xavier, one of the newest programs to offer will conduct their virtual visit with Wiznitzer soon as will DePaul’s staff.
A newer development for Wiznitzer is the potential option to reclassify to 2020. “I could potentially go 2020 if I find the right situation and spot where I’m gonna be used right away and developed,” he said. He’s still open to it but clearly is focused on 2021 as more schools are still getting involved. There are some schools that would take him for either class.
As far as his decision timetable: “As far as cutting things I’m not sure yet, gonna see if AAU happens and if there are any live periods. I also can’t take official visits right now due to the virus so I’m not sure about when I will decide.”

    Duncomb to IU.
