  1. Sorry gang, not sure where to put this. So soon after losing CC, we have lost mile. I know he had many friends here.

Very sorry to hear this. He was the person that told me about BTown Banners. I first began to communicate with him on the old Scout forum. Sad news.

  2. Yep. We were the ABC game of the week, which was a big deal back then, and a popular media pick to win. We managed to hold Nebraska to 69...LOL... Even after all those years, and all the beers I drank that day, I still remember seeing our entire OL and DL getting moved 5-10 feet every play.

Yep. I believe Hipp began his career as a walk-on. Not a good day for IU football! IU Football coaches seem to be on the move.

  3. Saw this posted during an NBA Finals game in October. I'm not skilled enough to change the graphic, but just pretend it's the score of our game tonight and the title is "Boomers watching IU win a low-scoring game at Wisconsin."
I don't think BADGERVOL is a Boomer, but I could still see this being his reaction. lol

Excellent win for IU. I hope this successful season leads to sustained strong recruiting classes going forward.

  4. Lots to like here, but this might be my favorite!

I still remember when his dad was the backup to Pete Stoyanovich. When I was a freshman, in a really bizarre, tragic story, Pete's father, who had mental issues, killed his wife (Pete's mother). Pete had to leave to go back home and missed the Ohio State game. Jay played and missed two FGs -- we lost 24-22. If not for those misses, we could've beaten OSU three years in a row. I think that was the only game Jay played at IU.

I remember Stoyanovich. Excellent kicker at IU and in the NFL IIRC. Didn’t know the sad story about his parents.

  5. Sometimes you gather all of the information and make an educated decision. But if the information you are collecting is false info then it's tough to tell the whole story. If Indiana has been out for the last year then that is some shady stuff there. But I will admit I missed this one big time.  But I will say the staff still thought they had him as of earlier this week. Move on to the next one. But I really don't like how Indiana was treated in this recruitment. Just morning ramblings.

Doesn’t TK know Steve Green picked IU! Lol! Bummer.

  6. Wow.

His offers were off the charts good.

    When is signing day?

With football recruits I’m always nervous until they are signed (even though guys flipping hasn’t been an issue for IU for a while).

I believe Westlake is AJ Moye’s High School. They should share Moye’s success at IU if they haven’t done so even though we’re talking IU Football vs IU Basketball.

  7. Corey Evans -
Yes, Indiana is still the team to beat for Trey Kaufman, but that doesn’t mean that a commitment is right around the corner. While some of his peers in the 2021 Rivals150 have come to a quick college decision, Kaufman doesn’t seem to be in a rush.
Kaufman has only taken official visits thus far to Indiana and Purdue. While the ability to connect with various coaching staffs via Zoom calls and virtual visits has helped, those solutions don't replace in-person, on-campus visits.
Louisville, Virginia and Xavier have done their best to hold him off from committing, and Kentucky and North Carolina have also shown interest, but I expect Kaufman to ultimately choose the Hoosiers.

I hope Kaufman is aware of Steve Green.

  8. Wonder if the Prez of U. of Michigan consulted with Jim Harbaugh about this.

    https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/05/24/michigan-wont-have-football-unless-all-students-are-back-on-campus/

There’s been a sense in recent weeks that some college football programs will find a way around the “no college football without college” principle by having a flexible definition of what constitutes “college.”

At the University of Michigan, there apparently will be no such flexibility.  Michigan president Mark Schlissel tells the Wall Street Journal that the Wolverines won’t play this fall unless all students are back on campus for classes. Schlissel added that he has “some degree of doubt as to whether there will be college athletics [anywhere], at least in the fall.”  Full story at the link above.

I wonder how all of the football players would vote? Do they want to play with all students taking online classes only?

  9. I’m biased.

My first basketball heroes were Norm Van Lier, Bob Love, Chet Walker, Tom Boerwinkle, and Jerry Sloan.

You got to be kidding Stuhoo. I loved that team! Including Jerry Sloan. He took E’ville College, to Division 2 National Championships. Sloan and Norm Van Lier would not give up easy buckets. IMHO, Sloan was a great defensive player and rebounder! Good discussion, btw. I’m bummed to hear of his passing.

  10. As a two guard, in his senior year of college Jerry Sloan averaged 17.6 points per game, and 14.7 rebounds per game, (as a guard!) which led him to being the #4 overall pick in the NBA draft. To put that in perspective, no player in 26 years at any position has averaged more rebounds than Sloan did that year as a guard.
In his ten year NBA career as a two guard he averaged 14.0 points per game and 7.4 rebounds per game. To put that in perspective, he is the second highest rebounds per game average for a guard in the history of the whole freaking NBA! Oscar Robertson is barely higher at 7.50 rebounds per game. Also, in a 10 year career he was 1st team all-NBA defensive player four times, and 2nd team all-NBA twice. NBA Hall of Famer. Jersey retired at Evansville.
That’s pretty great is you ask me.

Again, I saw him play many years in college and I would take him on my team any day. IMHO he was not great. I guess it depends on what you call great. Do you know who Evansville College played in those days? I saw who they played. Stat’s don’t tell everything Stu. I know you know that. He averaged 15 pts. per game at EC, but like I said, stats., aren’t everything. I saw the teams they were playing. You should be ashamed comparing him to Oscar Robertson. Ha! Are you going to say he was comparable to Jerry West next? Lol! You said he was pretty great. Additionally, as I mentioned previously, I’ve been referring to college participation only. I’d give him an A defensively, an A in rebounding and a C in shooting, especially from the outside. He was tough as nails and Larry Humes was a good friend of his and I would take Jerry Sloan on my team in a heartbeat. I loved his play. I rooted for him throughout his career. I only put a very few in the “great” category.

  11. I'm not going bother discussing this with someone who obviously is unfamiliar with the subject and is just trying to be annoying.

Seems to me you’re annoying. I already told you we can have a difference of opinion, but apparently you’d rather resort to name calling. I saw him many times. I would take him on my team any day, however, once again, you describe him as a great player. I only reserve that description for a very small percentage of players.
