    my stepmoms uncle passed away on Tuesday, my grandpa passed away this morning, and then my stepmoms grandma passed away this afternoon. Been a rough week and anything helps.

    Nothing against CMW, but after Brad, Matta was my choice for IU’s Head Coach. Wonder why he didn’t take the IU job when it was available? Is his health that much better now?

    Quick thoughts after sleeping this loss off.
    1st half of basketball was maybe the most enjoyable half of basketball I have watched IU play in the last 8-10 years. 
    2nd half of basketball was something we have seen too many times over the last 8-10 years.
    X is like a box of chocolates you never know what you're going to get. 
    TJD and Race both need to step up in their leadership. Demand the ball. Your all-American can't finish the game with 9 points and 6 rebounds. 
    We have too many guys who you don't know what you're going to get each night. So up and down. Like Leal great against Nebraska, nothing last night. Bates, Durr, Kopp, are all others that are up and down.
    We don't have anyone who can beat you off the dribble consistently. Wisconsin took away our shooters in the 2nd half and we didn't have anyone who could create. Bates can be that guy I believe. 
    Coach Woodson has to get better with rotations and some other in-game coaching things but I'm not worried there, he has good assistants to help with that. 
    I think some people are overestimating what Matta does. He just oversees the basketball program. He's training to be an AD somewhere. Yes he sits in on meetings but I don't think he adds that much, not near as much as Hunger, Yasir, Fife, Walsh, and Hill. 
    Learn from it and move on, it's all we can do.

    My buddy and I discussed some of this. In particular, if the WI players are going to come out on the three point shooters in the 2nd half what adjustments is the IU coaching staff going to make? Shouldn’t that open of some room for TJD? For me, I was very disappointed in the coaching from IU in the 2nd half. Although I believe the players need to take responsibility for poor free throw shooting among other things.

    I think one of fans’ biggest misnomers is that playing time somehow equals development. Players develop in the off season and in practice. Playing guys at the end of the beach minutes they don’t deserve won’t develop them any faster. 

    It takes all three. Players get better from practice, individual and with the team, and in games.

    In my day most freshman was brought along slowly but now of they don't get playing time right away people complain about.  Let the kid develop and let him earn the playing time instead of just giving minutes to him.

    KL won’t develop on the bench. RP and KL both have pros and cons, I’ve seen enough of both that IMHO neither should be a DNP.

    The reality is that last year was a waste year and he shouldn’t have reclassified.  This is really his freshman year and if he looks at it, he’s the future.  Phin going to graduate.  Don’t know about Johnson, only one year here?   And I’ll bet he sees his time going forward as phin is usually dinged up during the year.  

    I hope KL gets more playing time. I don’t like him receiving a DNP today. I hope he sticks with the team long term.

    Anything you noticed in particular about Gibbs-Lawhorn on the RSL team?

    OF, IMHO, Lawhorn showed good quickness and a nice outside shot and a good ability to penetrate. Montverde was so talented, GL didn’t have many opportunities to finish inside. Decent defender. I believe he is better than what he showed last night.

    For those of you who are able to watch, Jalen is #24.  '23 Kwame Evans is #13 and '24 Derik Queen is #22.   If this game follows the game I watched the other night, you won't see all 3 on the court at the same time.   

    Montverde won 84-39 over Real Salt Lake. Big mismatch. Hard to tell a lot from this game. JHS had easy assists throughout the game. Handles the ball well. Pushes off with left hand often. Plays good on-the-ball defense.

    That illini account that reposted it likes to start stuff with everyone. They have with a UK player and dickinson from michigan as well. You can tell the jokes was in good fun but i agree it shouldnt of happened in the first place. If theres going to be fan - recruit interaction it should be like how we did for clowney. 

    That’s terrible.
