Was hoping for a traditional BIG vs PAC for the championship, but it is not looking good. Alabama showing OSU how to play football.

B10 Bowl Lineup. Predictions/Results
jmsgws replied to Naturalhoosier's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Well the B1G has done better than I thought they would. Would love it if they could go at least .500. -
The MSU game has kind of turned around to be interesting.

I hope that Alvarez doesn't let Stave throw the ball farther than 10 yards this quarter. If so UW might pull it out!
-
That is great news!!

Natural: only as a fan, but considering a big chunk of my income will be going to support the University, I feel compelled to want them to do well!. I've told my son, I will wear red everytime I come to campus, only he and I will know it will be for IU, not UW! Plus as an older guy I like watching UW in both football and basketball. They play more "traditional" B1G style games. I like that.

Since I was the one who used the term. I'll reply. I grew up a Hoosier, graduated from IU, and even though I no longer live in Indiana, have raised my kids to be Hoosier fans. I agree that people wanting IU to lose should go elsewhere. I don't think supporting this team is supportive of mediocrity, supporting mediocrity is shown by saying IU's past is the past, just be happy with the present... The present hasn't been that good. I want Crean to be here for 40 years, because that means he has won and won consistently. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening; so I believe it is time to make a change.

IU has never gotten all the Indiana kids. Never have, and never will, there are to many good Indiana kids. I wasn't in the room when any of the coaches were hired, but I do know that Sampson was not the AD's first choice, but he was the President's first choice, that is why he was there. I do know that Pitino was interested in coming to IU, but again the administration wanted to go a different route. I don't want the old days to come back, but I don't want the current mediocrity to continue either. I disagree completely that comparing to our past isn't fair. We were at the top. That is the benchmark that we should strive for.

Well, considering I'll be the parent of a Badger next year. I'll be rooting hard for UW
-
I have never said it was Crean's fault, IU's administration has made mistake after mistake for years. IU is still very much a destination spot, but every year we start the season with expectations of 9th in the B1G that destination gets less and less desirable. I would agree that IU needs to rebuild. The difference comes in as to who people think can do the rebuilding. Our current coach, even though he has done a lot of good things at IU, IMO has shown that he does not have those abilities. I don't fault him, though, I fault our AD for giving him an absolutely silly long term/expensive contract.

I miss the fact contending for a B1G title was considered par for the course, and that every year making the NCAA tournament was just assumed, never any talk that IU "has to do "x" to get into the tournament". We knew we were going to be good, and we expected to win every game. I miss that every loss was considered a bad loss.
-
That may be the way it is, but it is not the way it should be. There is nothing wrong with wanting IU to be the national player again. That is the most frustrating thing to many of us "old timers" we don't like the fact that mediocrity is now acceptable.

Hornets assign Noah Vonleh to NBA D-League
jmsgws replied to Hutch89's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I would have liked Vonleh to come back, but I certainly can't fault the young man for taking the money when he could. There was no guarantee that his draft stock would have improved. -
Is IU currently reaching out to Brad Stevens through back channels?
jmsgws replied to southernindianahoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Hell. any back to back championship run would be great. -

and if Stevens were the coach then, we wouldn't have had a Cody and Vic team. May have had a Cody team, but certainly no Vic on there. Hiring any coach is going to be a crap shoot. The way many are salivating over Stevens is the same way Texas Tech fans were probably salivating over Knight being hired, Sure they got a little bit better, that that really didn't work out for them either. -
Sorry I guess my brain can only think about one project player at a time. :)
-
I didn't think he got in until the game was already decided, but I will admit I could be wrong. Even with that that doesn't make Crean wrong for not playing Priller.
-
Another example of how many have given up on the season. I can find a lot of fault in the Coach, but not playing guys who are not ready is not one of them. If there were a 20 point differential, and he put him for the closing minute, that is one thing. Putting him in a close game, where his inexperience will almost certainly doom the team to failure is something else entirely.
-
There were three glaring problems with this team at the beginning of the year, and the same three problems are still there. 1) We don't take care of the ball. 2) We don't play consistent defense. 3) We have no one to contest the interior. I have seen glimpses that the team is working on 1 and 2, but when things get close, they revert back to form.

I feel like Tom's daughter.
-
We would not have been that situation, if the team would learn how to play with a lead, and how to come out of half time, like they gave a $**$*
-
Yogi being in the middle of the zone, was one of the silliest things I've seen in a while. Almost as silly as waiting until your lead is erased before calling a time out.

Whats the buyout on Wilsons contract?
jmsgws replied to FKfootball's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
That is highly debatable. Considering Indiana has the record with the most losses in college football. It is really hard to claim that any program is worse than Indiana. Cutliff is probably a better coach, but we don't have him. WIlson gets next year, and it will either be a bowl game or the unemployment line. -
The joke that will never die.

That could be, but I don't think it is going to be this year. :(
