    Allen was the correct choice

I just saw this thread, and found it incredibly interesting, but the post that concerned me is IUHossier5's post about the players not wanting to continue with the season. If true, Coach Allen has much bigger problems than recruiting right now.

    2017-18 Season Expectations

I would be ecstatic with a one year turn around. But with my glass is empty view in regards to IUBB the last couple of years. What happens in year 3 or 4?

I don't think Dakich is mad we fired Crean. I think he is mad that he was fired, and replaced with a mid major coach, with no big time experience. Dakich, like many, places no faith in Fred Glass, and I think that is what has him more riled up than anything.

I wasn't talking about the patience over the last two decades. I agree whole heartedly with you there. I am talking about the lack of excitement now. Most of us were not expecting great things this year, but we were thinking that IU would not stink. We were thinking that Miller would be able to come in and immediately have the team playing hard on every play, and actually playing defense. Sure there are examples of coaches coming in and having an immediate impact, but the norm is for at least one season before you start seeing results. I am putting myself in the group that has no patience right now. The last two years I found myself doing something I never would have thought possible. Actually turning off IU games before they were over. I would have turned off the Wisconsin game, but I couldn't because I was in the stands. :)

I am beginning to understand the lack of excitement from the fans. For years, now, the traditional IU fan has been frustrated. 15 years since our last Final Four appearances, the end of Davis, then the Sampson debacle. Fans got their spirits lifted with Tom Crean, then it became obvious that Crean would not lead us to the promised land, but it took a while for the Athletic Department to catch on. Now most fans thought Miller was going to come in and have an immediate impact on what we saw as flaws in the program. It seems that immediate is going to take a while... In this day and age, we all want instant gratification. If we have to wait 5 seconds vs two for the webpage to display, we immediately think something is wrong with the computer, or the internet. Most of us have lost the ability for patience. I think Archie can get the excitement back, but he has to do something to show the fans that he is doing something (anything) to fix what we perceive as the problems.

I agree with part of your talent evaluations, but I disagree that you about holding the coach responsible. If he is that great of a coach, he would have gotten through to at least some of the players already, and we wouldn't be talking about lack of heart, etc.... All of these guys should be able to play to B1G Ten basketball. There is no excuse for half A$$ed play, and Miller owns that. If these guys don't want to play the way Archie wants, then sit em on the bench, and let em get bed sores. I would rather go back and watch replays of Crean's first two seasons, because those guys played their best. They were pretty bad, but they gave effort. I didn't see a whole lot of effort the 2nd half. Sure that is on the players, but it is also on the coach.

I don't think it is so much that Crean should not have been fired, it is that we fired him, and now he is not impressed with the replacement. Kind of the same way I was feeling last year. If you are going to fire Crean, you had better have an obvious upgrade. Listening to him, he makes a lot of really good points.

  9. Record wise, I agree with you 100%. Part of what has me so down, though is the way we lose. it always seems like it is one or two really dumb plays that lose the game. That just completely deflates everyone. Today, the play that really ticked me off was the 4th and 8 or 9 in the 4th quarter. If you are on their end of the field, maybe. You are the under dog and getting beat, so what do you have to lose, but that close to your own endzone you are just asking for the blowout.
  10. Glad to see the offense decide to wake up.
  11. Rushing Totals: OSU 201 . IU 3 . Wow, I would never have thought our running game would be that bad.
  12. Offense better wake up, because the defense is getting worn down.
  13. Hopefully the bucknuts will be saying the same thing in a little while!
  14. OSU's WRs are our best defensive players right now.
  15. We must not have a kicker on the team, this year.
  16. Another year, same problem. :( . We get in the red zone, but can't convert.
  17. Wow a QB looks to be our top running back! :)
  18. Dixon couldn't believe he was so wide open!
