Vonleh Leaning Towards NBA Draft
HoosierSadaseci replied to HoosierRob's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Watching all these conference tournaments this past week I've seen many teams in smaller conferences with big men that are actually pretty good, and I would say probably weren't highly rated out of high school, hence the reason they're at these smaller schools. Crean could get other big men, he just isn't good at it...and the fact that Cody and Noah never really developed under Crean is going to hurt, too. -
Vonleh Leaning Towards NBA Draft

Well when you're 17-14 with many bad losses, your team is turnover prone, and the head coach often times appears to be clueless, and your best player and only quality big man is leaving early for the NBA, and there's rumblings of other defections yet to come, and next season leaves little hope of being better than this past season, well it's kind of hard to be cheery. -

Uh, he put the team together, he doesn't have a plan B or C for Vonleh leaving early...it's his fault. -

Another scholarship is open, time for Crean to recruit another wing. -
Well what did you expect Glass to say?

I love Indiana Basketball
HoosierSadaseci replied to CampHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I found this to be one of the most uninteresting season's ever, it was at many times dreadful and unenjoyable to watch. I usually look forward to every IU game, but the passion wasn't there this year. Even after the sanctions and we were basically a team of walk-ons Crean's first year I looked forward to each game because even though I knew we were going to lose, there was still hope, and signs that we were going to be back. This year we regressed, and now that the season is for all intents and purposes is over we didn't show much to give me hope for next season, especially without Vonleh. I liked the athleticsm the young guys bring, but the play was too sloppy, no fluidity to the offense, sometimes I wondered if we even ran an offense. Many of Coach Crean's flaws showed through as well, questionable substitutions and sub patterns, a lack in making adjustments or countering opponent adjustments. And why doesn't Crean try to run the offense through his best player in Noah Vonleh? Same issue as when we had Zeller. Sorry, but I'm more than disappointed in this season, and not looking forward to how we may look next year. -
My sources confirm this.

Does not compute.

Tonight gives me some hope for next season...many of the frosh looked like they were starting to get it...just hope they all return next season. Add them with JBj and RJ, and we can be a decent team next year, but we've got to learn to hold on to leads, especially halftime leads.

We used to never lose senior night games...now we've lost back to back senior nights. Not acceptable. -

OT: How did you find us?

Saw on 247 that Jaybob, the General, and others from HSN were here, and so I jumped on over here. -
24/7 is what happened to HSN, though I haven't been here long, I can tell this site is more like the original HSN, and that's the way I prefer it.

A first-round bye...not impossible
HoosierSadaseci replied to incrediboy's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'm not sure it'll be a heartbreak if we don't make the tourney, especially since we were playing so poorly just a couple weeks ago that it was assumed we weren't going to be in, however the last couple wins has livened the mood a bit, but no one should have their hopes, too high...yet. However, if we beat Nebraska and win at Michigan, and then start the BTT with a win, then I think we will be putting ourselves in the bubble talk, and if we get a second win in the BTT things may get interesting. -
Not afraid to admit I'm not totally sold on Coach Crean, even last year with the season we were having I did not think Coach Crean's in-game coaching, and adjustment skills were carrying the team, but rather a senior laden team, and Victor Oladipo's self-motivation. I expected some struggles this season with what we lost from last year, and so many newcomers, but for most of this season it appeared we weren't improving, in fact for a stretch we seemed to be regressing which was very frustrating. This past week though appears to be a step in the right direction. I don't expect Coach Crean to get fired anytime soon, but if we continue with struggling seasons, and his offensive system doesn't begin to show through as being more than just dribbling around the perimeter, and we miss consecutive NCAAT's, then yeah his seat better begin to get hot.

This Week's Key Bubble Games
HoosierSadaseci replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Who would have thought last week that this week we'd be worried about the bubble, and other bubble teams? My what a couple wins over Top 25 teams in the same week will do for a struggling team whose season was swooning. Need a couple more wins though to be seriously considered as a bubble team. IMO. -

I don't know, I'd consider Oklahoma and South Carolina's majors seeing the conferences they come from, and Creighton seems to be doing pretty good right now. IMO. -

What an odd thing to say...or at least odd in how he says it. Seems he may favor MSU, but he's at least giving IU a chance with their persistence. -
