  I agreed until that statement. Rob may be more consistent but on a much lower level. Sheehey won us games. RoJo probably won't do that this year or even next year.

  IU does a good job at orientation to talk about drinking but really don't talk much about drinking and driving. Probably because 1) Everything is in walking distance or 2) They don't expect people to be that stupid. 

If I'm Crean, I play this for my guys. You can understand the history to an extent and understand the noise during home games, but you can't understand what it means to the fans until you hear it. I think it's important what Knight told his players: "You never know"

Right now if we had a 100% chance of signing Milton but only a 50% chance of Bryant, I'd still put all my resources in Bryant. We need a big man far more than another guard, no matter how good Milton is. 

  It seems to me that Chappell and that offense did plenty well and our defense is just as bad now as it was. 

I lived in the Villas and saw a kid get hit so hard his jaw was hanging off of his face. I was also there when an armed robbery happened at a party two rows down from me and a shot was fired through the ceiling. It's essentially Sophomore and Junior guys trying to throw parties for Freshman girls who don't know any better yet. 

  Let's say we finish with 5 wins and miss a bowl. Wilson has to make a bowl next season to salvage his job. Currently he is 12-28 and Lynch finished 19-30

  He once said the following "Jimmy Clausen will prove himself as the best QB to ever play at Notre Dame." This was after his first season at QB. 

I remember a few mentioning a Missouri Valley player signing at IU was disgraceful. That seemed to be a very small minority and seems to be the same crowd that stirs that pot in every thread and never comes back to respond. There are some people who are stuck in the 1980s where MAC, MVC, and CUSA schools didn't get good recruits and didn't do very well in the NCAA tourney. Times have changed exponentially.  Just look at Butler when they were in  the Horizon or Wichita State who's in the MVC. How about George Mason in the Patriot or FGCU in whatever league they're in just for fun as well. 

I'm not a person who thinks Vitale is annoying. On the contrary I really like him calling games. However, his top 40 list is about as meaningful as Lou Holtz's pre-season top 25. Everyone pats the old guys on the back and moves on with their day

Enough with the "crow eating" stuff. It doesn't do the discussion any justice. As was posted previously, the majority of the disappointment wasn't in Z specifically, but that we signed another guard when we needed a big man. We are all glad he's here but we would all probably trade him for Anthony Lee or Kasongo. 

If he was on crutches too, as reported earlier in the thread, that's a bad sign and I wouldn't hold my breath about the start of the season let alone HH

  I guess you just have to wonder how many times someone runs in to a wall before trying to find a door. We have had good seasons under Crean so he's not completely lost. I just think he needs to adjust 

After the Mizzou game I really wanted to believe Wilson was turning the corner. I wanted to believe IU would make a bowl. But the Maryland game solidified he needs to go

  I couldn't agree more. The sub patterns single-handedly lost us the game against Northwestern. I compare Crean to Jason Garrett with the Cowboys in the sense that he tries to be the smartest man in the room far too often. He over-analyzes a game situation and as a result ruins the flow of the game. There's two things Crean is absolutely awful at: substitution patterns and playing through bigs. He's also horrible with figuring out how to play against a zone. I think he needs to take a step back and evaluate those things and trust his assistants. I know this is hyperbole but I absolutely would rather McClain, Buckley, and Martin to teach our players how to execute against a zone over Crean. 

Before this spirals, let me clarify. My point is that if we are to do anything this year, Hanner has to have improved. DD was on the upswing and we will be a great shooting team. We have leadership in Yogi and Z and I think Troy will have a breakout season. The only player who has a legitimate chance to tip games in our favor is a consistent Hanner Perea. We cannot rely on Holt and DD in the BIG. We will get eaten alive. Take out the Crean comment, I was just pointing out that if we miss the tourney, most will call for his firing. Is it fair we have to put so much emphasis on Hanner? No. But that's the reality of the season.
