Tom Crean to Alabama Rumor Thread
PointBlank replied to birdy_19's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I just read the other board, and Gocolts adds a lot of knowledge to the limited discussions on that board. No disrespect to Coach Knight, GoColts posts like Coach Knight coached at times. He can make things interesting. -
Tom Crean to Alabama Rumor Thread

You would think he would give the standard: I am only thinking of WSU and we have a lot to accomplish here in the tournament, while having his agent burning up the telephone lines. I think Bama will bring major money to the table and a truckload of amenities. TC might consider the Arizona State job, wouldn't have to spray tan. At some point ASU has to step up and narrow the gap on Zona. -
The Cats will face a second consecutive very physical game. WVa doesn't particularly rebound well defensively, but they force turnovers and steals. Cats better continue to hit the FTs because they should be at the line a lot against WVa. WVa actually has some guys who can score as compared to Cincy.

The committee will deny they look at the seedings in this way, but how else do you have the Matta coaching tree with the possibility of playing each other? Matta & OSU versus Miller & Zona, winner takes on Mack & XU. The teams have to win to make it happen but it is more than a coincidence.

Is IU Content to be Little Engine that Could?
PointBlank replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Glass gives too many coach speak answers. He should stand behind his coaches but he goes beyond the normal stance. At times one would swear he is the actual coach of the football or basketball programs. I tire of the excuses from Glass, but in a way I admire him for supporting his under performing coaches. In public it appears he always has the backs of these guys no matter how they perform which is understandable. -
Tom Crean to Alabama Rumor Thread

This IU team has several players who like to party as does most teams. Abell is now a key part of Xavier's sweet sixteen team. Xavier has had an easy route to the sweet 16. Not sure if Remy would have received the same amount of playing time this year at IU as he has at XU. -
D+ This season reminded me of the freshman who is all fired up to write his first major paper and pens four great pages worthy of an A or B. Then he is introduced to beer and puts off completing the paper until right before the deadline. He fills the rest of the paper with mere filler and drivel before turning the paper in. The prof reads the paper very impressed with the first few pages and has the WTF moment while reading the last pages - as if the paper was written by two different people. It is one of those papers which has the great remarks on the first few pages and the dreaded huge red question marks on the back pages. No matter how good the first part of the season went for IU, the last half was a huge failure. It is that last impression which most people will remember. D+ and a huge WTF for the last of the season.

Hammons had a nice game but what was he thinking on the drive to the basket which tied the game at the end of regulation? I know he has to be concerned about the kickout, but he moved to his left on the drive opening up a path to the basket. The guy was driving right to the area where he was standing and he moves to the left.

Keep an eye on the dreadful AAC, IF Temple and UConn win today, and UConn wins tomorrow this will throw a wrench in the works for a couple of more deserving teams. Why does UConn get to play at home? They have been an under performing team for much of the season. -
ADs in the power conferences are mostly judged on the performances of the two major revenue generating sports of football and basketball. Having successful baseball, soccer and other programs is a positive, but those sports do not pay the bills for the entire athletic department and don't carry the weight of the two major sports. I do not believe Crean or Glass are going anywhere this year unless they decide to leave on their own terms. Having said this and if IU does not make the NCAA tournament, Glass didn't do himself or Crean any favors last year when he made the statement in regards to turning down the GBI tournament. I believe IU makes the dance if they can either split the last two games or win one in the league tournament.

He has played against LSU and Miss. State but not on a weekly basis. How did he perform against those schools as compared to the C-USA schools? The bottom of the B1G is terrible, but the top of the B1G is so much better than anything C-USA has to offer, including Marshall. While IU's line will be better than anything he has run behind previously, he is going to see bigger, faster and stronger players on the other side of the ball in the B1G with the exception being Purdue.

It looks like he is staying and former ND running back Denson is going to take the job at ND. This is beyond great news for IU. Another IU site guru just about had McCullough signed ,sealed and delivered to ND. Had McCullough been offered and had accepted the RB coaching position at ND, it would have been a good move. This staff knows they have to deliver this year and continually looking over your shoulder is never fun. Of course, working for Brian Kelly is no walk in the park and the pressure up there is immense.

Big expectations for Jordan Howard, it will be interesting to see how he performs once IU hits the Big Ten portion of the schedule. He will be facing bigger and faster players he was accustomed to facing during Conference USA games. On the other hand, he will have bigger and faster guys blocking for him.

None, I wait until I see the what they bring to the team by producing on the field. Too many disappointments in the past, and I don't get all hyped up over the star ratings and the newspaper clippings. I do think this class has several potential contributors. Potential is just that, potential.

At least 6 and 7 wouldn't surprise me. The first four games are not the toughest of competition and at least three wins should be expected if not four. Wake has been headed in the wrong direction over the past couple of years. Iowa has been on the decline and IU is fortunate to have that game at home. IU should get a home win against Rutgers and a win at Purdue shouldn't be unexpected. Need to pull off an upset against one of the others.

With the addition of Howard many expected a transfer or two from the RBs who were on the roster. If it is about a perception of lack of playing time due to Howard's arrival I can see where he is coming from. While playing time is not guaranteed, these guys bide their time behind Coleman, spend a year redshirting, and out of the blue another very good upper classman running back arrives on the scene. Wish he would have stuck it out if it was about playing time.

IU Football 2015 Recruiting Class
PointBlank replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
I am leery of Harbaugh trying to lure a commit or two up his way. He got a late jump on recruiting and is scrambling. -
Great win for the conference and OSU. An excellent coaching job by Urban and his staff. How many programs can win three straight against very good competition as OSU did with a third string QB? Shows how a very competent staff can overcome adversity.

Paterno to have 111 win's restored

Kelvin lost today at home to Tulane in front of 8,000 empty seats. They could not have had more than 500 in attendance. i wonder if Houston has the basketball department's telephone bills remitted directly to the Accounts Payable department in lieu of the basketball offices as was the case at IU and OU? -
Congratulations to Iowa for making a bowl game, but they played brutally. Ferentz has to be on a very short leash. Glad to see the three big boys in the B1G carry the banner well.

UAB RB Jordan Howard to IU
PointBlank replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
This is a very good pickup, I don't believe he has the overall talent of Tevin but few do. I wonder if any of the first or second year RBs are now pondering a transfer? -
Congrats to Tevin, maybe this is the start of turning IU into running back U. Surprised to see him listed on one site as the number 5 back if he enters the draft. I believe he is more likely the number 2 back. If he isn't projected in the first round, does he return to IU? My guess is he needs a solid projection of 1st or 2nd round to enter the draft. Some mocks have the RBs not going very high in the first, saw one with no RBs in the first round. Want the very best for Tevin, selfishly it would be great to have him back.
