Prediction League (Game 7 - Syracuse 11/30/21)
darB s'tI replied to Str8Hoosiers's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I don't participate in the prediction league...not sure why, but I don't think Syracuse is going to give us the problems they traditionally have. We've all read the anti-preparation stories from when Crean faced them in the sweet 16. Woody put it on Fife and the coaches to prepare. And as I'm reading, X and PS have both played against that zone & are helping coach us in practice. I believe the key to win will be in our D, not our O. More scattered thoughts here, but Syracuse is also not as "long and athletic" like they have been in the past, which makes that zone very tough. I think we hit our 3s, break up their zone, play tough D and surprise some folks. Adjusted Defense #156!!! https://kenpom.com And Sagarin is lower on them than KenPom... https://sagarin.usatoday.com/2022-2/college-basketball-team-ratings-2021-22/ VCUs 258th rated offense put up 68 on them and won by double digits... We have something to prove and are playing with purpose. IU 77, Cuse 62. -

It's like you want him to fail so you can say "told ya so"...and I don't get it. I'm enjoying this team and CMW. The players love him, they're having fun and we're playing with purpose again. Fill your cup! -

Josh, I don't always agree with you, but I love your point here. I like this team. They care, they hustle, they play tough defense. We lose that game 9 times out of 10 with our last 2 coaches. Personally, if we could see the constant rotations slow down a bit, that would be good. Also, a couple of guys are showing they don't have much business being on the floor. I like a 7 man rotation with the rest providing breathers; not even playing time for the bench. It appears I also need to go back and read 780 posts to see what everyone else has been griping about. I have no complaints. They had a guy go off, and boy was he good & fun to watch. We played tougher. We won. That's that. Cheers. -

OMG @Hardwood83 you win the comment of the year for me. MSU should be under a decade ban for their actions and the non-consequential chess moves they made to cover up rapes, amongst other less serious but punishable acts. Izzo is a bad person. As is/was Dantonio. -

I don't see anything all that alarming. CMW was trying out different lineups all night. Most of our guys played well. Do we have a few guys chucking up 3s that shouldn't be? Yes. Will we use crazy rotations like this all season? No. I'll tell you all one thing I did notice: With around 2 minutes left, we had given up a 20 point lead and EMU was running. At that time, CMW coached this team to a win. CAM and CTC would have lost that game, and you all know it. CMW deserves credit, and he also totally owned that we were a "C" last night. Until we see that he's not willing to make adjustments the way our previous coaches handled things, we have little to worry about. I'm not always glass half full, but the guy deserves a bit more leash than he's being given by some. -

That game still gives me nightmares. How about under 5 minutes left, down by 5, Oladiop with 3 fouls....sits on the bench until under the 2 minute mark. Oladipo, mind you, was in the running for DPOY --AND-- OPOY. Crean always thought the guys needed rest. Riiiiight; rest'em as the overall #1 seed when you're losing. Smurt. -

That wings picture where he's full-wingspan palming 2 balls is money. He needs to commit based on that alone. @Chris007 get to it! -
It said IUBB and IUWBB. Has to be some sort of endorsement or fan experience announcement, right?
-
Have you all received your tickets yet? I have not; just curious if anyone knows timing-wise when they'll arrive.

2021 kid huh....We don't have an open scholarship, do we? Someone explain to me how he could end up at IU this year other than a redshirt or backing out of a full-ride scholarship to play at IU and pay. -
Favorite All-Time Hoosier Basketball Player

A little bit of a dark horse here considering the guys he played with, but man I LOVED watching Greg Graham play. He was on a spectacular roster. The 91-92 team is still my all time favorite. I'm 43 so '87 was a bit too early for me. I remember watching it, but I was 9. https://iuhoosiers.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/1991-92 -

Is his visit still on? Seems very strange to announce a top 4 after scheduling a visit and not include IU. His interest is there; maybe another coach is in his ear about IU? Doesn't make sense to me. -
My wife, who loves college football in general and puts up with my fandom for IUFB, just asked me to send her "that LEO video" so she could share it with a group of women in her MOPS group. Just watched it again...performance aside, how we ever lose a recruiting battle is beyond me. Too bad we couldn't get a guy as accomplished as Jeff Brohm.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJgut10EwOw

How about that stat line and the smoothness (if you watched the videos) of Bates? Calm, cool, collected and so so smooth. -
I have 2 season tix in D, lower level, row 30 on the aisle (as long as they come back in the same spot). I make it to early games with my kids and/or wife, but often can't make it down. Also, have a parking pass. If anyone is interested, I would sell games I can't make.

Reading big things on Spiegal....and very very hopeful for Carr.
-
Wish this young man well! He was a major get when we landed him, yet his production on the field was never at the level we all dreamed of. I'm also reading 2 other guys in the same position are playing very, very well. No one wants to be a 3rd string 4 star.

This kid is absolutely first-class. He took my son (going into 8th grade) under his wing at Brebeuf football camp and has been overly kind to him. Preaching academics, hence his interest in Stanford. I thanked him for how he treated my son and he responded with gratitude, sincerity and kindness. One of the good ones; trust me. I hope he ends up in Bloomington...and I might have told him that. -

Not a single vote yet on 247. Normally someone on there has early insight. Lord knows my optimism sets me up for heartbreak, but as Lloyd Christmas would say, "you're tellin' me there's a chance". -

Or maybe it was a REALLY great visit, he's leaning IU and doesn't want a bunch of rabid fans attacking him. This, my friends, is how I see things through my crimson goggles. -
Izzo will help cover this up just like he did all the multiple rapes and multiple rapists on his teams. Just take these good-hearted boys to a children's hospital in East Lansing and it will all go away. MSU is as shady as it gets.
