Respectfully, come on. No coach in the country is going to say another school is his dream job unless it's someone coaching Coppin State looking to get the job at Kansas. -

I just don't see it, like, at all. He doesn't need leverage at Auburn. He doesn't need a raise. He has everything he wants, other than they're a football school and IU is not. Or at least we didn't used to be!!!! -

I can see it now. Woodson, Payne, Wittman and Pat Knight. "We ain't gonna lose at home, man. Mike Woodson don't lose at home. We just gotta get over this hump and play inside out basketball like the game is played nowadays". -

I keep reading the problem(s) with Buckner, and I'm curious: Has QB actually made any statements, or is it all an assumption that he's protecting Woody? That said, I think they're bros for life & he is most definitley protecting him; I just don't recall seeing it in writing. Could be wrong. -

We notice you were gone. If you could please ask next time you plan to take 2 hours off of this board, it would be greatly appreciated. -

Respectfully, I would not score Woody well on any of these. Maybe #6. Everything else is a fail. -

I used to feel this way as well, but then Cignetti happened. That was an absolute power move. We didn't just swap coaches. We told ol'LEO to take a hike and brought in a proven winner. Scott was a part of that. Let's all hope and pray we see the same thing on our beloved IUBB front. -

To add to this - if it's Pearl, and there's real smoke associated with him coming to IU, this thread is going to hit 1,000 pages. No way he would announce something like that before Auburn is done with their NCAA run. We have a lot of time to speculate, agree, disagree, and spin the Brad Stevens Wheel of Fortune, folks! -

I joined BTBanners & left ITH completely because of situations like this. There are tons of chippy people on there, including the owners/mods. -

I'd be all in on Oats. Big fan. I have no interest in rolling the dice, including on Dusty May. He's 3-5 years away from an IU gig in my opinion. He's still winning some games he shouldn't because they're an underdog; it is a thing. Pearl or Oats seems most realistic. Or...gimme Stevens whose personal helicopter was rumored to be circling Assembly Hall last night according to flight records. Or bring my personal pipe dream of a coach out of retirement, Jay Wright. -

I know Pearl has a crush on IU. Dusty May is obvious. Would Oats even consider it? Why step into a Bloomington hornet's nest with an expectation to take a program back into the blue-blood discussion? There are only 1-2 guys in the entire country that could accomplish that, and I'm not sure either of them would come to Bloomington. Summary: Who is realistic, who is not, who is the dream? -

Great point. Are you ok winning the right way if it's the way Duke does it? Break all the rules with a 4.0 GPA while the NCAA looks teh other way? -

Sampson is one of the best basketball coaches in the entire country. I'm guessing you & others just don't like how he wins. I wish he would have stayed at IU, kicked a few guys off the team, and hung a few more banners. He probably would have by now, truth be told, but not at our prideful school! Serious question - What exactly do you and half of the IU fanbase want? You want to win with no risk and no sacrifice. Good luck with that. It's like this vision of an acolyte on the sidelines of Assembly Hall, petting puppies and winning basketball championships all while wearing candy stripes. I think we have this vision of our "squeaky clean" program, and it's actually a huge detriment to our success. The NCAA does NOT care about our pride. They don't give a flying ***k. There's a path to winning, and we're not on it. It doesn't mean IU has to be dirty, but good lord we all need to get over this concept. The NCAA knows: Bill Self breaks all the rules. Tom Izzo...don't even get me started. John Calipari...gross. Kelvin Samson, you over-texting jerk! Mike Schzzlakizkzizaouinveoinveski - super dirty. UNC, super dirty and cheaters on record. Sean Miller, dirty. The list goes on and on and on. All of them got away with it and still get away with it. They know the system. I am not saying I agree with it, but the NCAA makes money on high-profile, winning teams. And with that, they allow certain things. Guess who is the envy of IU basketball? All of those programs and their continued success. They have what we want. When Knight was here, we all overlooked many of his glaring flaws because we won. We were winners. We hung banners. We need to look in the mirror and leave the self-righteous stuff behind. We need to get out of our own way. -

I get why Pearl would make you pause due to his age, but that's the only drawback I see. Pearl is hands down everything Woody is not. He's a recruiter, a winner and has a long-standing track record of success...plus he wants to be here. Aside from age, he's 10x what we have now. Plus he's willing to toe the line, something I think IU needs. Is he Brad Stevens or a young star in the making, no, but he's not asleep on the sidelines and refusing to recruit. But hey, maybe he can get us over the hump. -

I, personally, do not miss our senior point guard. He's a bad look for IU, in general. More harm than good. -

I'd agree with you if NIL and immediate transfers didn't exist. You get the right guy in here, and he can make a very quick impact through the portal and with the support of NIL. If you're questioning that, look at what Cignetti did to the IUFB roster in just 2 months. It's insane. A few years ago, it would have never been possible.
