Stevens, Oats, Beard, Matta or Muss. In order of reality: Oats, Muss, Matta, Beard, Stevens. Preferred Bearded Stevens.

Let me guess - Alford as head coach, DD as assistant coach. Gross.

Hippo, I'm going to need your support on this. Glass half full on the Sheehey milkshake please.

You know who I'd like to see on the bench as an assistant? Sheehey. That guy had grit and fire like few who have ever played at IU. We need both right now. I expect all members of this community to support this campaign. I'm IU-DL and I approve this message.

Agree. Fife will go HC next or stay at MSU. AJ would come to IU in any role based on how he speaks on social media. Cheaney, from what I hear/read is still pretty butt-hurt over whatever transpired during the Crean years. I don't know what all that was but it soured a relationship with a guy we should be celebrating/naming things after.

Can't say I like one thing about Gregg Doyle, but this is not an uplifting thing to read if you're CAM. I honestly feel bad for the guy. When it was "Crean's time", I didn't feel bad for him. He was a huge narcissist and had worn out his welcome. Our fan base booing players and turning aggressive in public is unattractive to students & parents.

I dream about comments like this. Archie has (had) his hands full with a couple of guys that did him no favors. Mr. walk it up the court is one of them.

I still like Matta as a quality option if healthy. His track record is very strong minus the very last year he was at OSU. Never even had a season under 20 wins.

My point is, they're likely already doing that. I say likely because I have no direct tie to the program other than season tickets. You don't vacate the head of any size program with no plan; I respectfully disagree that they'd fire then find a search committee. If CAM is done on our next loss and that decision has been made, all these things are already in motion and there's no way they're going to let the word get out on that. Including search committees, validating interest, etc. It's not a blind process.

There's no way CAM is getting canned with no solid replacement lined up. That would only be the case, in my opinion, if CAM had a violation and they had to get rid of him immediately. Succession planning probably started 4 weeks ago if Dolson is doing his job.

I find the same thing. Used to follow ITH religiously but it's extremely heavy on opinion. Once those guys pick a lane, they push it down your throat. I'm not of the opinion they have anyone "inside" the program, and it's nothing more than pure speculation. If 007 and Pap say there's a chance/we have the money, they're who you should listen to.
  13. Man, I just said the same thing. I think we had 4 3's miss rim in the half. And all of them were WIDE OPEN.

I log on a few times a day to gather a bold-take or something insane from 007 or Pap. This is a strong take. Most everyone thinking Stevens a pipe dream, but a few people seem to have mild-optimism. I know Stevens isn't just going to talk and head to Bloomington, but our expectations are to be in the tournament every year. The Celtics have higher expectations, and those end in getting a Championship.

@Chris007 Who do you consider to be at "Brad Stevens" level? Meaning - if a donor said "this is a grand slam, here's the 10M" - who are those candidates? Chris Beard, Brad Stevens...who else?
  16. MSU spanking IL of course. IU is great for getting programs back on track…other than their own.

Or - all this happens & Leal/Galloway/Lander become excellent guards and we compete. Some forget that Archie turned Dayton into a regular competitor - it's not like he took over a power house. Dragging IU out of the gutter is a far bigger problem than many of us may realize. I'm not saying Archie is the guy to do it, but when you have negative production at the guard position from upperclassmen, it's hard to win. And...Archie can't "make" some kids get better. Some of these young men have hit their ceilings quickly, and they're not very high. I realize I'll probably be lit up for this post as Archie-optimism isn't a popular topic, but he still has a couple of very clear inconsistencies resulting in problems (losses) on this roster. Race, TJD and AF have developed quite nicely. I think we'll see the same out of Leal and Galloway. And Geronimo. I love IU and I have to find some layer of optimism or just give up. I'm not willing to give up.

Not defending Archie here, but this is a classless publication by the Star and Doyle salivates and hating on IU and creating a Boiler love fest. It's his MO. All press is good press from the perspective of the Indy Star. They're the media version of Dan Dakich...who got LIT UP by TJD's brother on Twitter this morning for his childish jabbing at college kids.
  19. I'm not even sure what to say about that performance, but I can tell you I see a very alarming repeated trend. I also refuse to call out college age kids by name who undoubtedly read these threads. HOWEVA - Archie has saddled himself to one player in particular whose repeated dismal pefromance is killing this team. Slow play, no ability to create, meaningless passes, high turnovers, won't shoot even when wide open, and when he does, poor percentage. His very predictable performances, and Archie's nonsense strategy of playing him 35 minutes a game, are what is killing this team. We can't win them all, but that poisonous combination has lost us at least 5 games...maybe 6, this year. Take a look back at the box scores and you'll see what I'm talking about. It also makes IU VERY VERY boring to watch. Going to go beat the dog or scream at the kids now...bye.

    Hunter updates

What's the story with Hunter and his now-2-game removal from games? Grades, injury, other? I haven't been able to find much anywhere. If I missed it or it's in a different thread, please pass that along. Very curious.

@Chris007 As is with many of us, you're the source of truth! I'm a loyalist; a defender of Archie (previously). While I'd love to be Gonzaga, I realize you win some, lose some. Our trajectory, inability to win and overall player demeanor is as low as I've seen it, including CTC, Sampson and Davis. In my mind, Dolson comes from what many of us remember as the Golden Era of IUBB. That's in the rear view, and I was chatting with some other very loyal IUBB guys last night about the risk the program faces today. That risk is the turnover of those who remember the Golden Era not buying season tickets and the newest generation of Hoosier fans not knowing wins. Assembly Hall has been deflated since Archie came in and for the last few years of CTC. Logic, in my mind, says Dolson is well aware of this and next year does way more damage than prolonging the winning/coaching/funding problem. It likely takes us into 2024 *yikes before we can compete again if we ride this out. I tend to think a donor buyout isn't the only solution. My big question/thought/whatever - The loss of program revenue going forward by keeping CAM an additional year is going to be very significant; more significant than a buyout now. No recruits coming in, likely players transferring out who want to win and CAM becoming a lame duck will crush attendance next year. Then a 2023 reset....can you really see Dolson letting that happen in his first 2 years for what was, in his eyes and his experience, a Blue Blood program? Maybe, just maybe, IUBB will finally go big after swinging and missing on 4 coaches in a row. I value all of your posts Chris and would love to hear your opinion on this.

    IUBB vs Maryland - 01/04/21 @ 8:00 on BTN

I'm not a fan of NET. Respectfully (or disrespectfully), it's garbage. It's way too inconsistent and is only good when they TRY to justify their tournament selections. KenPom.com, for me at least, is the only true source of a team's success factors and rankings. This is proven by year after year after year of nailing the best tournament teams with his proprietary algorithms. There are some real outliers when you look at NET versus KenPom. Michigan State for example. KenPom has them at 50, NET at 119. I mean, come on. MSU, loaded with talent and Tom Izzo, is the 119th best team in the country? Please. All the following are KenPom first and NET second. UK, 49/144. If you think UK is the 144th best team int he country, think again. Memphis 61/96. Colgate 134/16!!!! Drake 60/20. Kansas 12/27. And so on, and so on. Extremely far off base versus a continuously trusted source like KenPom. That said, IU is 23/51 with the 9th rated defense in the country. Again, the NCAA using NET is the same thing as they super super super shady CFP using their "own process" to select who get's to play in the football playoffs. Cough, cough, Notre Dame, cough, cough.
  23. How about Mullen getting national attention....1st team all American!! First ever DB in IU history to get 1st team. Annnnnd - B1G all defense 2nd team as voted on by coaches. How the F does that make any sense at all. I'll tell you how - If I have beef with anything IU (Bball, Football, etc.), it's this. The CFP and B1G absolutely stepping on IU and twisting the foot. I hope Dolson receives this message: Defend the fort. Go to bat for IU in a way that hasn't been done in the past. Such blatant disrespect. It's both embarrassing and pi**es me off. Dolson - don't let them continue to step on IU to get to OSU/UM/Wisky/MSU/PSU.

What Can IUBB do to Revive Your Excitement/Confidence?

Josh, you should start your own glass half empty thread. We're nowhere near UK's level of disappointment.

What Can IUBB do to Revive Your Excitement/Confidence?

I'm just as excited to watch tonight as I was Texas, as I was NW, as I will be to watch Purdue. Some call loyalists "fanboys" and I think that's BS. The reason this program has such a devoted following after 20 years of poor administrative decisions is because of us "fanboys". Keyboard warriors calling for Archie's head don't have a solution to the problem - only a finger to point. Maybe unpopular opinion, but I find it somewhat hard to dislike Archie. I personally feel like we're 1-2 players away from being very, very good. And I don't think our record speaks for how well we have actually played. Anyway, just caught this video of AJ Guyton interviewing CAM. It's really good if you have 30 minutes. Particularly the 2nd half. Hope we light it up tonight and renew the confidence of those who are down on CAM and the program! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_taqBfMTJo&feature=youtu.be
