    Fred Glass interview

Of course he's gonna defend Crean. What choice does he have? I'm more annoyed about that sportsmanship email that he sent out shortly before the Penn State game last night. Seemed like a chance to get a dig in at Texas Tech more than anything else.

    Scouting a potential Crean replacement

Just because Tom Crean will almost certainly still be head coach next year doesn't mean the topic isn't worth discussing at least.   My vote is for Jim Crews. The guy inherited an incredibly tough situation at Saint Louis, stepping in after the death of a beloved coach (Rick Majerus) who turned the program around. He's an IU alum, his team is ranked 12th in the nation right now, and they were a 4-seed in the tourney last year. He's coaching in the A-10 which is consistently one of the best mid-major conferences. Plus Cheaney is his assistant so we could get him back as well. You have to think this thought has crossed Fred Glass's mind at least once.   I don't see Stevens pulling a Pitino and coming back to the state unless things really go downhill fast in Boston, especially because he has a 6 year deal and he had multiple chances to leave Butler for other college jobs and didn't. He wants to prove himself in the NBA. Similar deal with Hoiberg... I don't see the Mayor leaving Ames unless he gets an NBA job.   Steve Alford? No thanks. I know he's a hero in the Hoosier State and played on the last IU title team, but as a coach, he's Tom Crean with slicker hair. Alford's teams' tourney performances have been brutal; he lost two 3-14 first-round games with two different teams. And lest we forget, his handling of a sexual assault situation while at Iowa was deplorable. And Dakich? Just no.
