(2014) PF Anthony Lee to OSU
eddiejames replied to maxwell's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I think it's he felt we were slipping and wanted to make sure he didn't cancel the IU visit at the end of the year. It hurts us bad that we didn't make the tourney. If we did, I think he'd already be a Hoosier. There are some concerns if we are going to make the dance next year. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
If this is the case, might as well start accepting he's gone. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners -
Also sometimes people learn info secondhand and decide its upon them to release it unbeknownst to the original source. I think someone telling you something knowing you're the founder of a large message board is different then telling a friend and/or family member. They know you will be smart with any information.
#1 reason I finally dropped my peegs account. Why pay when you can have the same information for free. Thanks to all those who continue to make this a great place to talk iubb hoops. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners -

I've heard admin isn't happy with what has been happening, and this would certainly go along those lines of leaking pieces of info to let the fan base know that things may even be worse than they appear... Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners -

My favorite Jurkin joke came when he committed to IU. The tweet from an IU beat writer went something like this "It's been Peter Jurkin here all day, and despite what my mom said I haven't went blind!" Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners -

You can tweet a recruit as much as you want as a fan. Personally find it a bit creepy people do that, but he says he enjoys all the love he is getting. Lee actually retweeted that two guys were transferring from IU, not sure if that is a good thing, or bad yet.

Can we just shut down the rest of the Forum and have this reposted on every topic? I'm telling ya, the more I read it, the more I LIKE IT! :)

Just reposted on twitter. This post above all else has made me take a few steps off of the ledge. At least now I can't see the bottom of the canyon.

Agreed. Just disheartening to see this, I've always liked Austin. Saw him a ton of times in high school, kids has a great passion and spirit. Wish he wouldn't feel compelled to leave, but if he wants to go, he goes. Just not so sure that there isn't something bigger at play here. Crean has been known to blame his players for a number of mistakes this season, maybe that is finally catching up to him, and guys we thought would be 4 year guys are thinking about their time at IU. -

DustinDopirak Shelt said Hollowell does want to have a conversation with Tom Crean about his role and his future, but that his status hasn't changed yet.3/24/14, 12:15 PM -

Maybe "tossed to the side" was the wrong use of words. Should of read - "now he wants to leave" Just not sure how you go from - "IU's #1 Cheerleader" to "Get Me the Hell Outta Here" -

Hollowell & Etherington transferring..
eddiejames replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
My only beef with AE leaving is that he was one of IU's biggest recruiting cheerleader. He got guys to come to Indiana and be a part of something special, now that those guys are gone he gets tossed to the side. That is 3 guys this year that have left the program, one for obvious reasons, the other two we may never know why the change of heart... -

More transfers coming? Chatter is Hollowell and possibly a few walk-ons... -
Easy, win 2 of the next 3, and 2 tourney games, IU is in!

Thanks. Luckily I stopped by my house before leaving, and say it on SportsCenter. That could of been a disaster had I drove the two hours down there to find out that happened. Luckily no one was hurt, and they seemed to be trying to take care of it immediately.

If this was already discussed, I apologize. What happens to those of us who got tickets for tonights game? Do those tickets just carry over whenever the game takes place at assembly hall, do I need to contact the ticket office?
-
I'm a little worried some of us here aren't taking drinking and driving seriously. It's not like he got in a fight? He was endangering people by driving while impaired. Enough so that he ran up a curb. The law is the law, regardless if he is a basketball player or not. He broke the law and jail was the perfect place for him. What would Crean do? Sweep it under the rug, like Remy, or Hollowell? Coaches won't deal with a mess like this, and if that was my coach he would probably told the cops to take me to jail anyways.

& Tom Crean responds. Okay, well looks like we will have a few hours maybe days before we know for sure.. Almost 1500 people viewing this topic. WOW

No I completely get it. But breaking the law and not having to answer for it is one thing, doing it while playing for a nationally recognized team is another. You have to hold yourself to a higher standard if you are representing an entire athletic program with your actions. I get he made a mistake, but he also agreed to follow a set of conduct rules set forth by the coaching staff. I guess I'm in the minority when I say that this sort of thing shouldn't be tolerated, and he needs to be made an example out of.
