The main reason Crean will get fired.
hoosierinIll replied to FKfootball's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Because our current players apparently ran off our "average big man" Luke Fisher. -
Bummer...I thought "we" had turned that corner.

Whenever Crean was hired here a friend of mine who was recruited by Crean when he was at Marquette told me, "IU is going to turn into Marquette. Good guards with a bunch of athletic wings." And he was right. I guess the thing that has bothered more over the last 7 than anything else, is Crean still acts like he's at Marquette. We need bigs in the B1G. But Crean's system isn't attractive to bigs. Plenty of big recruits got to watch CZ and NV play in this system and they haven't been sold. And stop the stupid oversign. We're signing multiple spring players, anyways. Our classes are terribly out of balance, and now with the DD injury we will potentially have 6 sophomores on scholly next year.

Our guys will get there with Coach Jackson...we're younger and haven't been on the weight program as long as some of their guys. On another note, I really don't like U of L. I wanna play them again. Crean better commit to a series with them. And why KJ would want to associate with those slimy tools is beyond me. Ugh. I hate losing. -

It looked a little chippy during a early timeout with Stan and the teammates... -

Hanner was better...way better...tonight than he's been all year offensively, but his rebounding and positioning is soooooooo far behind. For some reason, he hasn't bought into the fact that it's necessary he blocks out. I'm over Troy and Stan. I'm sorry, but if you take bad shots, turn the ball over, and play terrible help side defense (that's Troy) then it's not worth having you in the game. What was the deal with Hoetzel over Hartman in the 2nd half? Where was NZ the 2nd half? Why did RoJo get pulled and lectured over a TO with 4 minutes left when Stan and Troy did it the whole game and continued to play? I'm all for supporting our team, and I want Crean to succeed, but the subbing patterns nearly send me to the grave. I know, broken record... -

Lung burst, indeed. Then I got the look from momma bear who would burst my other lung if I woke up the three munchkins. -

What I find baffling is that Crean has him take the ball out of bounds. That accounts for half of his TOs in this game. You have to put your players in a position to succeed. -

Exactly. I would rather lose watching our top 8 run out of gas than watch Stan turn it over one more time. I wouldn't mind playing 7 the rest of the way and leave Troy on the pine. Bad shots are the same as turnovers against this team. -

Whatever Stan brings on the defensive end is more than negated by his five turnovers. I don't get it... -

Max Hoetzel....seriously.,. -
Wasn't able to watch the game. I did check out the box score. Looks like everybody (14 guys) was able to get in...which is good cause those opportunities won't be there in the near future. A couple questions: 1. How did Max look? His stat line doesn't look that great, but I notice he logged more time than Emmitt and the same amount as Hartman. 2. How did Stan look? Looks like he was able to find the open guy tonight with 5 assists.

It's hard not see some Oladipo in OG. Especially the highlight dunk above from last nights game. If he has half the competitive edge dipo has to go along with that skill set then we have a good one. In regards to both OG and Morgan, at first glance it's glaringly obvious that they don't have the strength to compete in the B1G...yet. Coach Jackson is a great one, folks. The phsyical transformation these two will go through in their years at IU will be tremendous.

Emitt Holt...Better than advertised, or an aberration?

And by the way, he has great energy and passion when he plays...which is hard not to like! -

This. I think we all liked what we saw out of him the previous games where he didn't get much PT but his strengths all came together Tuesday night for him to have a really good night. He doesn't need to be all B1G, but he does bring some intangibles to the game. He has soft hands, has good timing on rebounds and blocks, finishes pretty well around the basket and has a killer wingspan that allows him to player longer than what he really is. When coach Jackson puts some muscle on that frame look out! -

You're right, it will be intense. I know OSU is supposed to be pretty good, but I would venture to say we have more offensive potency than they do. I don't think we're better than OSU...especially defensively, but I'm guessing we put up more than 55 on UL. I also think we break that 1 ppp barrier. But I still think we probably lose. -

Louisville be like: "Oh, you beat Savannah by 40? We smashed em by 60!" Well, 61 to be exact. To beat a team by 61 and hold them to 26 points will likely be the most crushing victory of the year. -
GREAT game plan by Coach Crean
hoosierinIll replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think this is well deserved for coach. I don't know what has changed, if anything, but I thought on Monday during his preview for Pitt, "what's going on with Crean? Everything he said made sense." Crean pressers typically wear me out. Following his line of thought is like trying to keep track of a squirrel in a hickory tree. Then last night he had the guys ready to go and they played pretty well and it's hard not to be moved by the emotion he has for the team and players in the post game presser. Maybe, he's just being real? Here's to hoping he has this team playing their best ball in March. -

Define "settle" how you want, but I've never considered Pitino's teams to have great shot selection. They will try to carve the lane, but they will take their share of bad shots, too. Last night they chucked 30 3's. They average over 22 attempts a game and are shooting it at a 26% clip. -

With Sheehey, I don't know if his issues were so much that he started, but it was the changes in the roster. Sheehey played off of the skill and talent around him. With that skill and talent around him decreased, it put him in a spot to be someone he wasn't...and that's the main guy on the offensive end. Sheehey was at his best when the ball wasn't in his hands. Troy is similar, imo. -

Yeah, if they shoot us out of our zone then we're in trouble. Going back and looking at last night, Pitt missed how many WIDE open threes? A bunch. It was a risk that the coaching staff took last night because of Pitt's shooting %s and it paid off. Hopefully UL stays cold...ice cold...so we can stay in the zone. If not, we're going to have a really tough time guarding their behemoths. They have some serious size (height & weight). -

Holy smokes can Louisville guard! I think our quickness can be a definite threat, but it's going to be tough. Outside of Russell, OSU's guards were too slow with the ball last night against UL. Slow ball reversal, bad shots. Hopefully we can do better. We'll see. -

I like him too, but I'm not sure if the sum of what he brings would warrant him being in instead of Hartman. Hartman is a man out there. He reminds me, to a lesser degree, of Robbie Hummel.
