    IU vs. MSU Postgame

This is, by the way, a below average MSU team who played their best today. Take it for what it is (a tough road loss in the B1G) and move on, but man it hurts. I thought we should have handed it to them.

    IU vs. MSU Postgame

I know a coach can only do so much. Maybe tonight is just one of those games where it snow balled and there was nothing we could do to turn the tide. That happens. After all, a coach shouldn't be judged by one game. However, I'm waaaaaay over all of this "youth" and "he can't make the shots for them" stuff. Come on, folks. Of course there's elements that are out of his control. On the flip side, there's TONS of things that he can control. - He's hand picked his players. - He selected his staff. - He picks the style of play and the system. - He decides how to develop the players, etc. - He decides nearly every detail in the program...and yes...he is a micro manager. I'm not saying fire him midseason, but what happens on his watch is his responsibility...whether it's on or off the court. That's why being the coach here is a huge responsibility. IU is an elite program (well, I hope we still are), and settling for mediocrity will have long-term damaging effects on the program. I picked us to win this one by 10... Man was I wrong...but I think it's high time we start to expect some consistency in our program.

    IU vs Michigan State

Bardo agrees with many here..."They weren't ready to play." Cited not the missed shots, but poor decision making and defense as reason for the loss. Mercy...

Stanford Robinson cannot be in the game if we're in the bonus.

I once owned an '83 Cutlass. I drove it 25 miles to work everyday. It would run like a beauty on the way to work. On the way home it had the tendency to breakdown. When I could afford it you know what I did? Easy...I sold it...

We have no idea how to kill a decent team...Our leads disappear so stinkin quickly.
  10. If I'm Glass, you keep Crean until you hire Stevens.  If Stevens says, "no, I'm not interested and I want to stay in the NBA the rest of my life" then you move to Marshall, Bennett, Smart, etc.   Stevens, in my opinion is the only homerun.  Marshall could be really good, but in terms of nostalgia, uniting the fan base/state, no one would compare to Stevens...and the guy is a heck of a coach.   Do I think Crean is a good coach?  No.  I think he is an average coach who has a strong work ethic who does some things pretty well.  From a basketball perspective, I think there are quite a few coaches around the state of Indiana (including high school) who are better teachers and managers of the game.     For his sake, I hope he makes the tournament this year.  If not, we're going to be in a very difficult situation if he is retained even after not making the tournament.  Recruiting is already starting to dip some, his job status will only continue to become questionable (not just from the fan base but on a national perspective because of the tradition/history of IU) and it will become one of those "inevitable" situations that causes a drop in the overall quality of the program (players stop caring, etc.).     People, however, who accept the current quality of basketball need to realize how far the expectations have fallen.  It's about winning and winning the right way.  We haven't done that consistently for a long while.

    Watching Caleb Swanigan

There was a period of my life when I knew some of the things that went on behind the scenes and as a fan it made me a nervous wreck. The amount of secondary violations that happen in all programs but never make it to the public (mostly because people just don't look for them) would send nearly all fan bases crazy. For instance, the only reason the Gary Harris violation was made public isn't because IU announced it publicly, although they did report it, but because one of the other schools who was recruiting Gary leaked it to the public. I don't think it's any coincidence that Crean and Calipari's "friendship" went south from there. Crean personally called all the other coaches who were recruiting Gary to apologize because he didn't want an unfair advantage and it backfired on him. I think that's another reason we don't play Kentucky...Crean neither likes nor trusts Cal...and rightfully so.

    Watching Caleb Swanigan

And we hired Drew Adams for his expertise coaching skills...not because his father operates A-Hope. Come on. I think all this handler hoopla around Swanigan is a cover up for the fact that we don't have a shot with him and he's the best true big to come out of the state since Zeller. Crean was late into the game to begin with and wasn't close to being the first one to offer him. Maybe he's too big in Crean's mind? If he was THAT dirty then MSU, PU and Duke wouldn't still be involved.I'm not saying the handler is clean and I'm not saying IU should "give in" but to act like we didn't continue to recruit kids in the past even though they had "handlers" is naive of us.

    Coach Jackson to Kansas

One more thing on coach Jackson and then I'm done...I promise... The guy and his family were out in the community ALL the time. From the county fair to the College Mall he was a great representative for the program that the public actually rubbed shoulders with. I've talked with him more than once in the public and thanked him for the work he was doing and he was always more than cordial...ok...I'm done now...

Calbert was the biggest blow, IMO. Turning down the IU assistant job for St. Louis is laughable. I don't care who the head coach is at St. Louis.

    Anunoby and Morgan

Really, six scholarship players who are 6'7" aren't enough for you? ;) We need a big in the worst way...but then again, who wants to get all their points off of pick n'roll and put backs. It's not new news to anyone that Crean's system is less than ideal for bigs offensively...which in turn kills us defensively when we don't have at least one really good one.

    Coach Jackson to Kansas

http://www.newsobserver.com/2013/10/02/3248363/charlotte-bobcats-rookie-cody.html "How did Zeller get to this point? He credits his strength coach back at Indiana, Je’Ney Jackson, with pushing him and Hoosiers teammate Victor Oladipo hard the past two years." The thing about Coach Jackson leaving is he was something that set Indiana apart from other schools...Even if it was just a perception, it was becoming a reputation. From a recruiting standpoint Indiana, because of Coach Jackson, would develop you into a physically elite player. Is he replaceable?..probably. But we will either have to try to hire another strength and conditioning coach away from another program in the middle of the season, or look to other sports for a new coach. The position that was listed through the IU website stated that resumes were due by January 8, which suggests they're looking to hire right away.

    Coach Jackson to Kansas

Ask Cody, C-Wat and all the other players what they thought of Je'Ney. The guy is a great one. On top of that, he has been an important piece of the puzzle in the off season as he has had and still does (unless the rule changed) more access and contact with the players than the other coaches.

    Coach Jackson to Kansas

Having family and friends who work in the department the consensus among them is that Crean is very demanding from all staff workers while being quite unorganized and unclear with his expectations. That can make for a tough work environment. If JJ is leaving midseason, my hope is that it's to a big time FB program...which would make the timing make more sense. Leaving in the middle of the season for another BB program would be a punch in the gut. Here's to hoping the job posted is a new position to go along with CJJ!
  20. I certainly hope we do better than that. If we don't finish in the top half of the B1G then it's a huge disappointment to me.

Well, there's a difference between the btn2go and BTNplus (which is what our game is one). I would check it out before the game to make sure you have the right thing.

Thanks scohutch! I'll check out the eville link. Yeah, I checked the stations listed on IU's website for the Butler game, but they were either playing something else or had the game blacked out. I had to listen to Butler's broadcast on 1070 the fan.

I'm pretty sure that the $10 charge on btn2go excludes men's basketball and football. I found that out the hard way one time. Unless they've changed it?

Indiana vs New Orleans Game Thread

Yeah, I'm not paying $15 bucks to watch the game...not because of the amount but because I don't like to get hosed! At the same time, I couldn't listen to the game online last time either...all the stations that carried the game according to IU's website were blacked out. Any fool proof Fischer links out there?
