Indiana vs. Iowa Official Game Thread (7pm ET, ESPN)

I think a lot of IU fans are conflicted on what to do right now. You wish the kids the best and hope they do well, but it is getting really difficult to pump sunshine about the direction of the program...

    Potential coaching change suggestions

Shoot, I would even look at a guy like LA Tech's Michael White. He's young, won his conference three years in a row (and only been a HC for 4) and has a solid pedigree and comes from a family that understands college athletics (father is the AD at Duke). We will probably go out and hire like Steve Lavin or Jamie Dixon. Let's hope we have somebody that understands Indiana basketball on the search committee when that time comes...if it comes...
  3. How many 6'7-6'8 guys does a team need? If we whiff again on bigs in '15 then we would be looking to fill it in '16, right? I think my life would be more healthy if I didn't follow Tom Crean's recruiting habits...I probably should just look to see who signs.

    Post Game IU vs. Northwestern

SSQ... Had an interesting conversation tonight with a friend of mine who is an assistant at the D2 level. I brought up Marshall and his words were "stay the heck away from him." He didn't have anything personal against the guy, but he said he has some slime balls who work for him. The last thing this program needs is Scumson Jr. Take it with a grain of salt...

No way Crean gets a Sweet Sixteen next year. Unless something drastic happens size situation will be the same next year and we could possibly be without Yogi. Hard to see the glimmer of hope.

You don't count the three years prior to Zeller? That stat was Crean's total...not since Zeller...

    Post Game IU vs. Northwestern

A buddy of mine just sent me this. I didn't check his stats for accuracy so forgive me for any errors...but it sounds right. "Without Cody Zeller, Tom Crean's Indiana teams are 3-5 vs. Penn State, 2-8 vs. Northwestern, and 0-8 vs. Purdue."

    Northwestern pre-game 2/25 7pm

I know that's what was said. My feelings have always been that a new guy is a new guy. Leadership takes time. It seems Bryant is carrying a good portion of the leadership load at NW as a newbie.

    AREAS OF COACHING

College bball is unlike pro and HS bball, SSQ, you know that. The man literally has control (and he is very much a micro manager) over everything except making the shots, etc. Despite what others might say here, I don't think he's that bad of an in game coach, but it's the other aspects of the job (like roster management & class balance) that he has underperformed in. I'm ticked that we're essentially wasting this year with an awesome backcourt because we don't have capable size. Yes, there's a lot of variables and a college bball program is fluid, but if Crean doesn't have control over the element, he has key influence over nearly every other element in the program.

    IU vs. Purdue Postgame Thread

@akmccarthy: James Blackmon: "We felt like we defended the three real well, which was our gameplan." #iubb Purdue has shot the three 31% for the season. Why is this our game plan? In the words of Shooter, "make 'em chuck it from the cheap seats!"

    NIT

You're asking him to admit to a mistake (the extension) that would cost the university 12 million this year...beyond the money, there's a whole lotta pride attached to that. Self preservation, my friend.

    NIT

Guys (& gals), the only way Crean's job is in jeopardy is if Glass isn't the one making the decision.  They could lose every game the rest of the way (and they could) or they could win every game the rest of the regular season (and the could) and Glass' opinion of coach probably won't change.  Now, if he hadn't tied himself to Crean with that nifty extension, then I think we're looking at a totally different situation.    Fact of the matter is, even though the last five B10 seasons (I give a pass for first two) Crean is a .500 big ten coach, we're stuck...

    IU vs Purdouche Game Thread

I know we're getting beat so that might have something to do with their body language, but if you couldn't see the other team's jersey you'd think we're playing Eastern Washington. Where's the passion? We're playing Purdue!!!

I like the way we're playing. Just needed a couple more shots to fall. Defense looked better! Go Hoosiers!

    Hanner Perea's Defensive Impact

I think there's definitely something to what you're saying. With Hanner we're still bad defensively...but without him we're terrible. Here's to an improved defense with his return, and may the three continue to fall! By the way, how in the heck do we get blown out at Wisky even after making 13 threes?!? Crazy!

Unfortunately, the situation there is still critical. 1.3 million people still displaced from their homes, war, violence, etc. http://www.enoughproject.org/conflicts/sudans/conflicts-south-sudan
