    IU Softball

Anyone ragging on him for making a bad softball hire two weeks into the coach’s first season is most likely a blowhard who doesn’t actually follow softball.

    IU Volleyball

    Really appreciate these pics.
  3. I’m a huge fan of the IU logo on the back of the new video board. Also, very happy to see marching hundred hall up and running…
  4. Correct, but I’m pretty sure it will look mostly like that. They already have an architect:
  5. That’s the total goal for the University bicentennial campaign over the course of like 10 years. The athletic portion was $170 million.
  6. Football as well: Located on the top level of the Excellence Academy, Sample Terrace will help radically enhance the game day experience in Memorial Stadium this fall. As the new home to Knothole Park, the space will feature family-friendly activities, local food vendors, and a membership program for children.
  7. Agree. All we have are these, for those who missed it earlier:

  9. You have to upload them to an image hosting site, and then click on the little photo icon in the toolbar when you’re creating a post. Copy the URL into that and then it will show up in your post. It’s kind of a pain in the butt to be honest ha ha.
  10. Thanks! Yep. Just adding more steel rising over those towers for the glass makes a bit of a difference:
  11. No not an employee, I just tend to have a lot of free time to look for this stuff. I love history, I love architecture, and I love sports, and I have a significant neurological disorder that brings a lot of downtime, so I’m just good at finding all that stuff because I’m often in bed recovering. iuplanroom.com is good for keeping up with upcoming projects up for bid. construction.iu.edu has a list of all university projects and pics, but the pics are updated at random. reprographix.com has the entire architectural/construction plans for the south end zone project. Just go there and search for memorial stadium in the plan room. Every time I try to link to it, it freaks out, but you’re free to search for it and view it.

    Tracy Smith struggling at ASU

We simply cannot pay what Florida or LSU pays for baseball. Football money goes a long way. With that said, we have nearly doubled our baseball budget within the past five years: “When Smith was hired, IU had one full-time assistant and one volunteer assistant. Today, the Hoosiers have two full-time assistants, a volunteer position and a full-time director of operations. Bart Kaufman Field got a video scoreboard this year. Lemonis brags about the state-of-the-art Trackman system that allows his staff to analyze players and opponents pitch by pitch. In 2012, the department reported baseball operating expenses totaling $1,263,199. By 2017, that number had risen to $2,215,515.” https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/2018/04/08/after-years-struggle-iu-transforms-itself-into-baseball-powerhouse/494909002/
  13. Beating Kentucky and Louisville will help.
  14. Yeah they’re definitely planting a lot of trees, but I don’t think they’ll be red...
  15. It will look 100% different when all the glass is installed. None of the exterior glass is up yet, half of the concrete is still bare concrete while the other half is being stained/painted tan to match the rest of the stadium, there is still dirt everywhere, the Indiana University precast sign isn't up over the main entrance yet, they don’t have any of the red banners up on the concourse yet, and there’s no trees/landscaping (giant plaza) or lighting. Plus, they are going to connect the wrought iron fencing on the east side all the way around to the west side. Right now it looks pretty utilitarian. Trust me, it will look completely different. Even little touches like the glass on the two towers rising up above the top of the concrete will make a huge aesthetic difference. The NEZ looked boring as hell for 90% of its construction, and now it looks freaking awesome.
  16. Correct. The university architect actually said they could add seats to the north end zone as well, but most likely they would just add a second deck on to the east side. That was originally supposed to be the same height as the west stands, but they ran out of money. I suspect the next major project will be more suites/a new press box, and they will happily deal with fewer available tickets/more demand if that occurs.
  17. Thank you! That’s an angle that hasn’t been seen much!

    IUFB Offseason Updates

It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if in a few years most schools don’t even have a spring game.
